With Carl and Jim I wouldn't be surprised to see a secret MMJ mini-set like before Roger Waters (or backing some other act). Still holding out hopes for Monsters of Folk but since I'm not currently sure I'm going I selfishly want them to hold off another year lol

That would be one heck of a Museum set. "Your Evening Pants".
Hasn't been mentioned but Alabama Shakes announced a handful of Northeast tour dates starting in Albany on August 1. Definitely wouldn't be surprised to see Brittany pop up at a set or two at some point in the weekend. If she wants to show up on Friday and maybe sing a Chuck Berry song I doubt there'd be any complaints

Was just about to post about Shakey Graves. I wouldn't call it "suspicious." He has no dates east of Georgia.
Quote from his email: "Secondly, me and the boys are headed back on the road this August for a quick mission as we continue to write and record new music in between."
So there likely wouldn't be much, if any, new stuff by Newport. Maybe he'll show up but a full set seems unlikely. I would fully support another full set from his, as his continuing presence is more fine by me than a lot of artists that continually stick around.

Hopefully they don't schedule our boy Yim to overlap with someone like Father John Misty again. That was a major bummer in 2013 but I feel I made the right decision leaving early for Misty's set.
This is the most underwhelmed I've felt about a Newport lineup. I hope the last 9 are great.
I've definitely felt a little torn between this and Panorama this year, partially because my tastes have moved away from some of the more straight forward folk/country stuff and this lineup has a fair amount of that. Having to choose between Fleet Foxes and Frank Ocean headlining fests on the same day should qualify as cruel and unusual punishment. If it weren't for some of those collaborative sets, and the general magic of Newport and the Fort itself, I might have abandoned this year. But I know I'll be very glad I didn't.
EDIT: But here's hoping for Bob Weir and Dan Auerbach & Friends!
