Did everyone else get that survey yesterday? What does everyone think of that "subscription" model? Do we think that's going to be a monthly payment for just Newport Folk, or local concerts too?

I caught wind of that on Twitter a few months ago. They want to make a subscription service that will include early access to tickets as a perk, among others in sure.
I replied to the survey that: 1) a multi-tier sale would be a good idea, with the subscription (or "members") people having dibs on the first group of tickets (smaller limit on numbers you can buy); 2) a second tier of sales for those who get blind-sided by sales morning; 3) perhaps a small group to be offered by lottery, just as is often done for large sporting events. Limits scalping, and helps make tickets available to the new and casual fan; 4) they have outgrown the Fort, but wouldn't want to move. Is the tennis stadium ala Newport Jazz a possible site? 5) It is extremely important, I think, to nurture new people, to keep any business model alive. 6) Lyte is a good step in the right direction. Amazing how quickly the numbers are now coming down now.
Looks like I will have two adult tickets and a parking pass for Friday.
Before I go to Lyte, I offer them here with the proviso I am in New York (the city and Westchester) and would prefer an in-person exchange. Willing to do the download at some printing site.
I would want someone to pick up the $18 for the parking pass (like a Saturday bath, whether you need it or not) and all fees. NO additional charge.
Let me know here or PM me. Can't wait long. Gonna really hate missing Friday after 4 straight years, but c'est la vie. That's French for darn sneakety rabbit.
Regarding the Lyte option. I just hope they aren't pumping more additional tickets through that outlet. Just surprised at how many have sold through there. That many people purchased tickets they don't want?
I remember last year being the most packed year I've ever seen, but the capacity has always been sold out at 10,000 for recent years.

I imagine the 10,000 person capacity is a fire code issue and that won't be changing any time soon. Last year seemed more packed than previous years? I have been to the past 3 years and don't remember it being much more crowded on Saturday and Sunday than usual.

During certain points in the day it seemed more crowded when trying to move stage to stage. Could have been an illusion, but I think others mentioned it felt more crowded too.

That definitely happens from time to time, I wonder if it's more a result of schedule structure than people in the Fort. If there are more conflicts/popular bands playing at different stages, the exodus gets more extreme. Thankfully they put in the barriers by the Harbor stage in front of the tunnel to maintain a better flow of traffic. In '15 that was a mess!

Perhaps it was the heat, but the crowds seemed smaller to me for much of the three days last year.
Folks may be waiting until the last minute -- like me. But suddenly what was one ticket on Friday a few weeks ago at # 189, is now # 74. And two Saturdays, frozen in the high 80's for two weeks, plunged in three days from 78 to 45.
Tbh I don't know anything about this fest. I said I would like to go one year and Katy Mae was like "yeah you should come this year" and then I bought a plane ticket.

My theory on it feeling more crowded lately is that the velocity of attendees has increased. Because of demographics, etc. the Ford is the tracking fewer of the sit down on your blanket all day people, and more of the hard-core music lovers who want to see everything and don't mind bouncing from stage to stage to stage. So same number of people, but feels a lot more crowded
Could be legit, but some strange things there. Like joe Henry & billy Bragg being on Friday instead of Saturday. Also, an unannounced harbor set? We'll see, but don't think this is 100% accurate

I think this is the schedule minus a few tweaks (Bragg, gibbard) and I think it's pretty nice!
That's what I started thinking too, but beaker is right about the really early set for Offa Rex and it's conflict with the museum stage, but maybe they need to get out of the Fort early on Sunday.

The Facebook link to the purported Newport schedule seems to be broken. Did anyone get a screenshot or copy the info down? Legit or not, I'm interested!

Yeah like - I don't think it's 100% right and why would this one person get this schedule but it seems basically correct.
