According to the Rolling Stone article below, looks like the Texas Gentlemen will be the backing band for the Chuck Berry tribute, which is pretty cool. Their set from last year was one of my highlights.
Funny story, I heard about kris kristofferson playing the quad last year with them from overhearing one of the security guys next to the stage discussing it with someone earlier in the day. He very casually slipped it into the conversation.
Also, at the end of the set, Kris Kristofferson said "see you next year newport"
I spoiled the surprise for myself and found out who the unannounced set on the Harbor is going to be. Anybody who really wants to know can message me, but I support going in blind
I would like this knowledge oh wise ones.. PM please

I was never a big fan of surprises. PM me please...
Staying at harbor hotel right on Thames and our crew is wondering if Uber/Lyft is accessible over the weekend or hard to come by and high surge prices. Trying to decide if we should get the parking pass and plan to drive back and forth or not. Thanks!

Uber is definitely accessible and surge prices were not bad at all late night, but I'm sure they are worse right when the festival ends. If you're staying right on Thames, you are probably better off taking the water taxi.

If I was staying there I would bike it in and out. You would save A LOT of time if that's important to you.

I finally sat down and really looked at the schedule. Here's my (very) tentative plan for now:
Friday: Matt the Electrician-->The Wild Reeds-->maybe the beginning of L.A. Salami-->Big Thief-->Beantown Throwdown-->possibly some combo of Ben Gibbard/THATH/Regina Spektor, but with my affinity for the Museum Stage, there's a good chance I'll just stay in there for all of Beantown Throwdown-->Fleet Foxes; have to figure out where to fit a lobster roll into this schedule (I live in South Dakota, so I try to get my fill while here)!
Saturday: Mt. Joy/Julia Jacklin/Chicano Batman (leaning toward Julia Jacklin as of now)-->Grandma's Hands Band-->Christopher Paul Stelling-->go get myself a lobster roll while listening to the end of Offa Rex-->Angel Olsen-->end of Joseph-->The Avett Bros-->hang out toward the back for Wilco-->Clusterquack Late Night Show
Sunday: Margaret Glaspy-->Unannounced (bummed about missing Michael Kiwanuka between these first two, which is making me want to figure out who the unannounced artist is now)-->maybe duck into the Museum Stage for part of Jalopy Theatre Presents-->beginning of Dr. Dog-->Speak Out-->hang out toward the back for John Prine, most likely while eating a lobster roll
Anyone have an idea how to transfer DT&F tickets? I sold one but would rather not have to meet the person at Newport Blues the night of. Can you change who the will-call is for?

I do believe you have to contact PledgeMusic and request they change the name on the tickets. I don't think they will break up tickets though, so it has to be for the whole order.

Also may want to try the Newport Blues Cafe themselves and see if they can help (if Pledgemusic is a no go).

Can. Not. Wait. See you folks soon!
Dont forget Thursday special lunch ( there's a 4 lb lobsta with your name on it) and Saturday late night lobsta snack. Can not wait to see you!!
I roll with the local NBC crew and they are still calling for Friday to be mid 80's, high humidity, and scattered storms. Sat/Sun 80, partly cloudy. Noticed the temp and humidity have shifted upward for the weekend as of tonight. The humidity trend is welcome to reverse itself. Partly cloudy is ok. LD get on that please.

Oh, I haven't forgotten - there are a few (or a lot of) things I'm looking forward to outside of NFF (:

4 weeks into our trip in the US and its been brilliant and now ridiculously excited for Newport
in the wash up of getting tickets sorted I now, have an extra friday adults ticket and sat/sun kids ticket, anyone interested or know someone who might be
I think it might be because I didn't do Bonnaroo this year, but this is the most excited I've been for Newport. I made up some playlists this afternoon for the drive, now I just need it to be Thursday already

I don't watch Channel 10 since their corporate overlords are quite right wing and willing propogandists for Trumpito. Lately I roll with 12.
As for weather, the NWS sense something coming along. Been bouncing back and forth between later Thursday and Friday. Currently back to overnight into Friday, but still a few days out.

Part of me feels like the surprise is going to make it into my ears just from overhearing people talk before Sunday's Unannounced........i'm feeling like I should just find out but I've always wanted to have a true Newport surprise set.

People who know: thoughts?
I'm glad I asked because I for sure would have checked out the unannounced set, and then I would've been disappointed that I missed Michael Kiwanuka for it - because the unannounced set just isn't for me. Had there been nothing else conflicting with the unannounced set that I knew I'd want to see, I wouldn't have asked though!
Longtime lurker here. Hello! Question for you guys...my daughter is in search of a Saturday ticket (She got a Sunday ticket from me for Christmas:)). She found someone on Facebook who is selling for a friend, but now is nervous about paying for what is really just a QR code. Any thoughts? I'm assuming Eventbrite won't help her out because they want tickets to go through Lyte, right? She is in line there, but it's a long line.
Anyone have any suggestions for buying from someone you don't know? Thanks!
