Part of me feels like the surprise is going to make it into my ears just from overhearing people talk before Sunday's Unannounced........i'm feeling like I should just find out but I've always wanted to have a true Newport surprise set.
People who know: thoughts?
Unannounced is a yawn for me. I'll happily skip it.

I'm a little torn between Kiwanuka and Unannounced. If it was just a regular Unannounced set, I would definitely skip it, but if this is Unannounced Solo, I might stick around.

As ilovethisgame mentioned it came down to schedule conflicts. If getting to the unannounced early for a good spot would cause you to cut-short/miss an act you really want to see then I'd probably find out.
For me, I try and lean towards as many of the only-at-Newport experiences (Museum, etc.) or acts that I haven't had a chance to cross off of my list yet and while I like the unannounced act, I have seen them before and so I'll either see more of Michael Kiwanuka or dip into the museum for a bit and catch a bit of them on my way out to see Rhiannon Giddens.

I'm glad I asked because I for sure would have checked out the unannounced set, and then I would've been disappointed that I missed Michael Kiwanuka for it - because the unannounced set just isn't for me. Had there been nothing else conflicting with the unannounced set that I knew I'd want to see, I wouldn't have asked though!

I'm having too much fun still being able to guess who it is using all of these clues. Last week I was certain it was somebody. Now today with people saying "yawn", I think there's no way it could be that person. And now this solo/band comments has me narrowing it down to 3 options with one being very likely and making complete sense.
It's like researching for my bingo board all over again.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

Can I get the PM, it's a practical question for me!

Who did you think it was last week? I'm not going because I have seen this person perform 6 times in the last 2 years.
Longtime lurker here. Hello! Question for you guys...my daughter is in search of a Saturday ticket (She got a Sunday ticket from me for Christmas:)). She found someone on Facebook who is selling for a friend, but now is nervous about paying for what is really just a QR code. Any thoughts? I'm assuming Eventbrite won't help her out because they want tickets to go through Lyte, right? She is in line there, but it's a long line.
Anyone have any suggestions for buying from someone you don't know? Thanks!
I don't know if this will help at all but I sold a ticket that I couldn't use last minute. We used PayPal and then I sent the mobile ticket. I was nervous that wouldn't be sufficient so I also mailed a paper ticket. I am extremely honest so I can't speak for your seller but maybe that would help.

I'm embarrassed that I overhyped it so much. Last week I thought it was going to be a one-off small set from Joni Mitchell.
The stars were aligning with:
- Clive Davis being on hand having a documentary shown on Thursday in Newport (one of her last public appearances was at a party hosted by Clive).
- Cameron Crowe was her "date" to the Clive Davis party (NFF follows Cameron on Twitter and tweeted to him this year asking if he would be coming).
- Joni played Newport in 1967 and they have the Spirit of '67 late night show happening.
- Nancy & Beth's first music video after they were announced was a cover of Joni's "Blue".
- I figured maybe due to her health she wouldn't want to be announced (Just in case) and would maybe want a smaller stage.
But of course, I don't think Joni would make anybody say "yawn" and I'm 100% sure nobody has seen her 6 times or even once in the past 2 years.
My new guesses are much more grounded but it was really fun putting together those clues while the thought lasted.

Thanks. It does all come down to honesty, but I guess there is a degree of protection from Paypal. I appreciate your thoughts!
Well the Nancy and Beth set is still being coined as "special guests" and the 67 thing is on Friday, as well as that set.
So...it's still possible I suppose.
I think the special guest for Nancy and Beth is going to be Shakey Graves? I guess the plural means there will be more than one, though! Only a few more days until all our questions are answered!

Well said! I agree 100%
I think James Taylor was that "finally unannounced guest," until, as I recall, The Boston Globe broke it the night before.
Mubather -- just back from out of town and offline, will contact you in a few re the parking ticket if you would still like it.
Thanks for the weather LD. ( I Dont 'watch 10 - just check the weather online..) The forecast seems to be changing every 4 hours... I'm really torn about unannounced clashing with Kiwanuka.
