Way way way way better than I remember, despite it being maybe the best set of the weekend.
I really dislike how they organize their site. I swore I saw something about it earlier this morning but then went to a different section and couldn't find it again. Thanks for this!!
Fleet Foxes' set got a little overshadowed by the rest of the weekend, but listening back it's so fucking good. I'm really hoping I'll get to see them again on this tour
Are there any recordings of the Speak Out! set? Been dying to listen to Sharon Van Etten's song again.
It's the one I'm really hoping for, but I don't think NPR streamed it live so I don't know if anyone captured. Maybe some taper out there but I haven't seen anything.
Some interesting notes after working my way through all of the NPR streams to get them broken up by track:
-Their site lists Battery Kinzie in Fleet Foxes' set but it's not on the stream. Too bad because it's a great song
- HFTRR's cover of Fortunate Son didn't make the cut. Wonder if it was potentially for copyright reasons? If so, would kind of make sense why they might have trouble putting out Speak Out or Grandma's Hands Band
- Margaret Glaspy's Lucinda Williams cover IS on the stream but isn't listed in the setlist on the site.
If people are interested and if someone knows a good place for me to upload them, I'd be happy to share them with y'all EDIT: I have all of them done except Wilco, which doesn't have a download link yet

I can't stop listening to it. I remembered loving it so much but Sunday really really skewed my thoughts of the entire weekend away from the highlights of Friday & Saturday.

I think with Fleet Foxes it's partially because their set wasn't particularly special for Newport, it was just a fantastic set, so some of those more "Is this really happening?" moments from the weekend stand out more. But even if I hadn't been at the festival I could listen to the Fleet Foxes recording and still be wowed.
It looks like the Newport Folk Festival Wikipedia page hasn't been updated in forever. It doesn't seem to reflect the Sweet era. Maybe by using news articles from the past several years we could collectively do the festival justice.

That's a great idea. I've never updated Wiki but it certainly needs an update and there's plenty of references.
Finally caught up with the thread since returning from the festival. I'll post longer thoughts on my second trip a little later, but I wanted to mention something about the festival posters. My first trip was in 2014 and I absolutely loved the poster, but they sold out well before I had a chance to buy them. A few months later, a surprise package arrived that included the poster and some other original artwork from the artist. My girlfriend had reached out to the artist directly and ordered from him.
Long story short, if anyone did not get the poster this year, it's a route worth trying.
