Any electronic dance bands on here (or whatever you wanna call them), a la Todd Terje and the Olsens, or Rufus du Sol? Last year we had 'em both, but going through the names I don't recognize I haven't stumbled upon something similar...

Daniel Avery, DJ Tennis, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Justice, Major Lazer, Matoma, Snails, Sofi Tukker, and Zeds Dead are all the EDM acts from yesterday... Scène Piknic Électronik is still on the map, so I am sure we'll get a bunch more next week.
Question for those of you that have been before - how do you get off/on the island? Is there a metro stop there?
We went to Montreal three years ago on a family trip but didn't see that specific area although we did take the metro all over. We loved the area though and are liking the lineup so far and are considering going.
Also how is the fest overall? We've been to Bonnaroo twice, Floydfest, Nelsonville, Lolla and TURF in Toronto for comparison sake.

The metro drops you off literally at the gates of the fest. It is the most convenient thing ever, but becomes a pretty huge clusterfuck at the end of the night. We usually took the metro in and caught an uber on the way out... You can also ride your bike there or drive there.
Osheaga is my favorite North American festival that I have ever been to. Hands down the best location for a fest. This year (and next) the venue is a little smaller due to construction, so unsure if that will effect things negatively too much.
So can we assume FJM will be hitting up most of the late summer/fall festivals? This looks pretty solid, depending on who headliners are. If AF and Frank are there I'll be very tempted to do this. Granted I say that every year, but this summer affords me a bit more mobility than past ones have.
Hey guys, this would be my first time coming to this festival, I really like the lineup thus far. Do you guys have any experience with airbnb on the weekend of the festival? I've heard horror stories about people being canceled on the day before and I don't want that to happen, obviously. A lot of the fares are outrageously low, have the airbnb hosts not jacked up their prices for that weekend yet?

I didn't have any negative experiences with my airbnb last year, although I did stay about 20 minutes from the Parc. Getting around Montreal is pretty easy.
Having said that, I'm really digging this lineup so far compared to most, but not sure I can swing this and Forecastle with my job.

What Launchpad said, but I think he downplayed the possible effects of the venue change...
I remain optimistic because it always runs really smoothly (even with the clusterfuck at the end of each night), but the original venue is a big part of why I continue to go back; side-by-side main stages, tons of shade if you need it, lots of hidden little areas to explore, etc. We already know the new main stage layout is a downgrade, so hopefully it isn't oversold or anything too...
Basically, if you make this your first year and it isn't what you hoped for, come back in 2019 when they move back to the original venue.

First year I got an airbnb months in advance on the cheap. It was awesome and in a great spot.
Last year we slept on getting an airbnb and wound up paying a lot more. It was awesome and in a great spot.
Hotels are also insanely cheap because of the exchange rate. Last year I was meeting up with friends who had done Wayhome the previous weekend, so got to Montreal a night early. I was able to get a pretty nice room the week of for about $60.

Those are all facts... The plan this year for me is to just do a single day to try out the venue and spend the rest of the weekend bumming around Montreal.... An epic lineup might change my mind though.

When you contact the hosts, mention that you will be going specifically for Osheaga. The cancellations I know of happen a month or a couple weeks before the fest because the hosts weren't aware of it, so when they clue in they decide it's time to hike their rates and boot the original reservations.
Never had a problem when I've spelled out that it's "for OSHEAGA".
bdiddybcurr last year, i booked an airbnb with private parking for around $200 for thursday-monday. we rode our bikes everywhere and didn't have to move the car all weekend. highly recommend that if possible. the city is really bike friendly, and you don't have to deal with the crowd getting the metro.

We bike, which is super easy. We've been 5 times, so we obviously like the fest (also been to Lolla and Firefly), but it's really hard to say what it will be like this year. Overall it's a well run festival that responds well to issues (ie if something is a problem on day one they try to fix it right way). The vibe is good, but restrained. The food is good - lots of local foodtrucks, plenty of poutine!

Going with Arcade Fire, Muse and Lorde for headliners
Very reasonable guess. Although it's worth noting that Osheaga usually has one headliner that doesn't play Lolla (last year was an exception). Crossing my fingers that the third headliner is Phoenix or LCD.

With Lolla at 4 days now that may no longer be the case... I am hoping for Phoenix or LCD too.
AF - Muse - Lorde does seem to be the main rumor flying around.
Id be okay with that. Seeing AF in Montreal would be very cool.

I wouldn't be shocked or upset if AF weren't on the lineup. Last time I saw them was also at PJD for their closing show of the Reflektor tour. It'll be hard to top that night with the,
