My reply to Whereispassionpit was poorly chosen. I tried to think of a more direct way of saying it, but failed. As someone who lives in Chicago, as stinky does, if lineups were similar, Lollapalooza would seem like the more of a no-brainer decision. When you combine the festival with the aftershows around the city, and the fact that I can come home and sleep in my own bed compard to being stuck on the farm for 4 days. Unless the person was under 21, then perhaps they could enjoy themselves a little easier on the farm.

Ahhh, I thought you were saying unless you're one of the under 21 dinguses filling Grant Park, there was no reason not to prefer Bonnaroo.

I'm not under 21. But danbob was right and I said what i said partly because I probably couldn't afford some things that maybe others can in Chicago. Even still, Bonnaroo is open 24/7 as opposed to only seeing an hour of the headliner in the dark, you have the pit system which is an insane bonus IMO, it's not nearly as crowded and the lines are way shorter, the main acts don't play at the same time, The main stages aren't a 15-20min walk from each other, you get more original bookings (Even in 2016 they has the Superjams, Dead & Co, Cymande, Dungen..), the comedy tent, the theater, the silent disco, other random programming and secret pop up shows. But I can see how someone would very much prefer their bed to camping, even though camping at Roo is one of the main draws for me.
This would be kind of a no brained for me. Wait til May to get your Bonnaroo ticket at half the cost. Opinions and all but I think Bonnaroo is so much more fun than Lolla
If it really is that easy that'd be nice. I really enjoyed Lolla this year though, there weren't any breaks in my schedule and I really enjoyed seeing basically everyone I wanted, on top of having a nice bed to sleep in when I eventually made it home. It may not work out that well next year, but I didn't have a problem with the crowds at all like I've read about, and I even went to the Perry's stage twice.
I was a former perpetrator of this kind of generalization.
After visiting Roo, Pitchfork, and Lolla last year, I've come to the realization that crowds suck to a certain degree no matter where you go. Mostly because of people. People suck.
In all seriousness, though, the swath of high school suburban jerkstores is only annoying if you allow it to be. I think last year on the day I went I saw Rufus Du Sol > Foals > M83 > Miike Snow > Radiohead, and it was totally fine at every show. That lineup doesn't exactly scream for the youth of suburban America, but still.

Maybe this is just me happening to know a certain subset of suburban America, but you'd be surprised, especially in the case of Foals and M83.

I mean I'm suburban America, too. It wasn't really meant to be an exclusive statement. Just saying I could think of much more stereotypical runs than that.
Edit: I also just looked at that schedule, and Future, Mac Miller, Cherub, Major Lazer, Duke Dumont, Griz, and Martin Garrix were all playing at that time. So, I mean, there certainly more options for the "younger" crowd.
damn i didnt know they were also playing nos alive. so it looks like theyll be playing early summer fests in europe, could def play lolla this year if you ask me.

I really think they'll play Wrigley. Considering that the Cubs won the World Series....they should be putting the cherry on top by playing Wrigley next summer. 2018 would make more sense IMO. Foo and Gorillaz at Lolla 2018...calling it now.

Robin Pecknold said Fleet Foxes would "def" play Chicago this year. Obviously that could be a solo date or Pitchfork, although Pitchfork looks less likely because they'll be in Europe in July. Just tossing it out there.

Foo Fighters - Mumford & Sons - Muse - Kendrick Lamar Lorde - Twenty One Pilots - Justice - Chance the Rapper
Honestly have no clue what the top 8 could be this year. I really think Twenty One Pilots will be there. Chance will be there unless he does another year of his own festival. Lorde's album should be out by the time Lolla rolls around and they'll want to be on the Lorde train when it comes around.
