Literally the only thing they did that anyone should care about.
Actually, I take that back - the horns on "Rag Doll" are also good.
Well while Permanent Vacation was annoying overall, without Dude Looks Like A Lady I would have needed a different walk up song for my late 80s drag career.
Not that they were like to have been booked anyway, but Aerosmith being out means Hollywood Vampires is also out. I'd much rather see them than Aerosmith. Perry looks like he still enjoys playing music with HV. Last few times I've seen him on tv with Aerosmith, it was like watching someone's soul slowly die on stage.

I enjoyed Aerosmith's 80's output as an adolescent. I might stop the FM scan if I heard Sweet Emotion on the radio. I was over them by the time Get A Grip came out. I got handed down some vinyl around that time and remember Rocks being one of the albums and after listening to Last Child I realized how soft they had become.
And Mama Kin, which GNR covered on Lies, is a lo-fi rocker.

I think they were pretty solid thru "Rocks" as far as American Rock and Roll. I agree the 80's and 90's Aerosmith are forgettable but I still found them entertaining.

Sweet Emotion, Mama Kin and Last Child are all from the 70s.
Yeah. I was just running down my memories of Aerosmith. I liked Pump in the 80's and when RUN-DMC brought them back into pop culture with Walk This Way, that was my favorite video and it helped break rap into that station's format. Aerosmith sucks though. I'd never go see them and I can't picture any of the major fests ever booking them.

Green Day was just announced for Pinkpop. I think it's safe to say they're out since they now have European dates the weekends before and after Bonnaroo.
Sounds like the consensus is that 70's Aerosmith was rad and then there are a few personal favorites from the 80's or 90's. That's about how I feel. I mainly blame Steven Tyler and music videos in general for making him perform for the camera instead of audiences.
Dawes are out. Playing two shows at the Ryman in late April
To double down on that, the two Nashville dates are sandwiched between a Knoxville and Chattanooga date. It's a rare sight to see an act hit all three in the same tour.
yes, they are contractually obligated to play The Other Tent every year at 4:30pm.
I don't think I've ever seen the What field as empty as it was before Dawes set at Roo '15. Maybe before Spoon, that same year, after 21 Pilots fans had cleared the area and headed for AWOLNATION at Which.

AWOL for some reason is a band I always miss for one reason or anther. that year I was up in the pit for Madison ward and the Momma bear then went under the trees right after and passed out in the shade.

I vauguely recall watching the first 30 or so minutes of Seasick Steve in 2014 with maaaaaaybe 50 people in attendance.

It was a good set. Too bad it was sparsely attended. (Couldn't tell from where I was in the pit.)

Yeah, I pitted and enjoyed it. Duane Betts was a solid addition.

I was at that set. There was a decent crowd on the lawn. The pit was pretty empty though

That Spoon set was soooo good, I walked right up towards the front just before it started.
Right? And here I was thinking that 80s hair bands would restore Bonnaroo to its former glory. Guess I was off on that one.
I mean, you joke, but booking weird shit like Alice Cooper, Billy Idol and ZZ Top was part of what made recent lineups great. A little hair metal woulda brought some class to the proceedings.
