I dont think they would ever book Twenty One Pilots unless they absolutely had to, no other option.
Is that due to them just flat out hating 21P? Love em or hate em, 21P would move a ton of tickets and I can't imagine their ask is THAT high.
Why dont you think their asking price is high? Theyve sold out arenas across the country, pretty much at the same rate as Kendrick, and they didnt have a supporting artist the level of Travis Scott on their tours.
Promoting Flume to headliner just 3 months after he was at Gov Ball wouldn't go over very well for a festival that is expanding, and then to also throw in Marshmello as a repeat....yikes.
Jay Z announced for MIA down in Philly. Eminem doing Reading/Leeds.. Who would ya'll prefer: Kendrick, Future, Jay, Drake, or Em?
1. Jay-Z: Feels like a legacy headliner at this point and have never seen him 2. Future: Would be a party and I don't think it would hog the budget for acts/genres that are more up my alley. 3. Kendrick: He's the king right now and I'm sure that should would be great. 4. Eminem: I think it would be a cool and I've never seen him but I've heard horror stories about Eminem live these days. 5. Drake: I don't understand the appeal at all.
Wait... you don't understand the appeal of Drake, but you would rather they book Future than Kendrick?
I keep holding out hope that one of the headliners will be a big alt/rock/indie act but don't think that will happen.
I think it depends how many headliners there are. If it's 3, then all you're getting is Gorillaz because 1 spot will be dedicated to hip-hip and the other will be big name edm or pop.
If it's 4 or 5...then who knows. I believe that the Founders guys have good enough taste to stay was from Image Dragons and Twenty One Pilots.
Please explain the scenario in which they have 4 or 5 headliners

Haha I personally just like Future and think his set would be a lot of fun. I understand and respect Kendrick's talent and why has gotten so big, but I'm just not a huge fan personally. And I'd rather their hip-hop headliner not kill the budget, and Future is definitely cheaper than Drake or Kendrick. I just don't like Drake at all and yes I know he did an album with future.
The Meadows had 4 headliners last year and Gov Ball has 4 headliners this year so I guess that is me explaining the scenario.
Eminem was one of the bigger bonnaroo disappointments for me. Not that I particularly like him, but I expected a spectacle and got a phoned in backing track show. I guess Jay z would be interesting. No interest in Drake or future.
Kendrick is still the one artist that I saw live that I always tell people that the live shows made me a convert.
Could Eminem even sell out arena tour dates now without having a significant opener?
Eminem is definitely one of the highest drawing acts. 2 years ago he did a stadium tour and did 2 nights in each city. Don't know about the rest of the tour but for NYC he sold out both nights - 150,000 tickets.
LCD Soundsystem sell out their own shows to their own fans for $50 and less. They do not sell festival tickets when those same fans have to pay $300. I am arguably the biggest LCD Soundsystem fan on this board, but if I was booking a festival and wanted to sell a crapload of tickets to a wide swath of people, LCD would not be who I would book.
That doesn't mean they aren't one of the greatest bands of all time.

Changing the subject...
Is Jay-Z actually in play for this? I kind of just assumed in past years that he (and Beyonce) were exclusive to MIA festival appearance especially in the North East.
But I feel like it's been a bunch of years, MIA is selling out regardless and is more of a niche Rap/EDM festival at this point, so would he still turn down big $$ fest headlining appearances in his home city.
A top line of Jay Z - Gorillaz - Calvin Harris/Chainsmokers/whoever would sell this thing out pretty fast.
I think who ever had the rumor about the Linkin Park/Blink 182 show at Citi Field is right. Linkin Park just dropped their tour schedule (with Machine Gun Kelly LOL), and they arent playing NYC as of now

Even more interesting, the ticket presale sign up they're using allows you to sign up for NYC already.
I thought about renaming the thread "Meadows Music Festival 2017 + Linkin Park w/Blink 182" and I am nearly drunk enough to do that.
Drunk enough to think that Blink 182 would be the OPENER
No WAY LP sells more tickets than Blink 182 in North America these days. LP struggles to even fill Jones Beach with support. Blink did 2 amphitheaters and an arena in the area without a key member.
