Honestly, I don't mind if it's in the Citi Field parking lot though I know I'm in the minority (and the EXTREME minority for anyone 30+). My biggest question is if they'll continue to even bother booking alt/indie acts or go the Made in America act and focus mainly on pop/edm with a few crossover acts (St. Lucia, Empire Of The Sun, etc.) If they did well being heavily hip-hop focused this year, can't see a reason to bring back bands such as Savages, Yeasayer, Metric.

If they want to thrive...they will have more genres than just hip-hop and EDM.

Sounds like they might decide to make the VIP 21+ at all their fests going forward. I am probably going to start going that route for their (and really all festivals) going forward just to avoid the kids.
Citi Field again wouldn't be bad if they add in things like astro turf. I think the reason they had so few alt/indie acts is because it fell the same weekend as ACL and these were just the ones that were available. Hopefully if it is a few weeks earlier next time they'll be able to land a more eclectic mix.

Probably makes sense since 95% of people with the disposable income to buy VIP tickets are 21+. I get really annoyed when people complain about "kids" at festivals. I'm 32 and started going to festivals at age 12 so I probably was one of those kids. The kids/young people are what keep these festivals vibrant and alive. Kids are the ones who check out new bands, show up early in the day and go absolutely nuts. The older crowd usually shows up 2/3 of the day through, stands in the back and drinks and then goes to see 2-3 headliners. I understand that's obviously not ALL the older crowd but based on my small focus group, that's what I gathered.
In terms of indie/alt I think the tough part is that the fall is when SO many bands release albums and tour. Those first tours are always major markets which include the city so festivals in the fall in this area tend to get people on their 2nd or 3rd go-around thus why their audiences don't always come out in droves. Some acts I think would make a lot of sense for this next year (as well as Gov Ball) include Jimmy Eat World, Phantogram, The Naked And Famous, Fitz & The Tantrums, Jagwar Ma, Lukas Graham, etc. Bands, and type of bands I think they should AVOID booking, includes stuff like The Kills, Band Of Horses, The Head and the Heart, The Strumbellas, basically anything too guitar-centric of folky. Finally, people will scoff at this, but Fall Out Boy would be a great potential headliner for this next year.

Older crowds (25+ for the sake of argument) have demonstrated the ability to be equally insufferable as the young ones.
The issue is more that festivals have indeed become all the rage/a massive fad, which attracts people of all ages lacking the etiquette to properly conduct themselves at these type of cultural events.

Agreed entirely and I started going to festivals at age 15 too (Ozzfest and Warped). My friends and I go just to check out the music and have fun. I probably shouldn't have said kids before, because I really don't mind the younger crowd. The problem is people (the majority of them are kids, but it is not only them) who show up and start acting obnoxious and mess with other peoples experience.

Itll be at Citi again I am sure. But theyll probably astroturf the heck out of it and add in more areas to sit. Those earlier dates would be cool. Wouldnt have to split talent with ACL.
Loved this thing last year, especially Saturday. Went myself that day and didn't have an empty moment from yeasayer till pretty lights. Sunday was a bit annoying with the younger crowd though.
The lineup for this one is going to drop sooner than you think and its looking good.
Major Questions/Assumptions on this thing in Year 2:
1. Is it going to remain a hip hop centric festival? I hope not. Chance/Kanye/Weeknd/JayZ/Frank/Childish/JCole/ATCQ/Kendrick(maybe) are all eliminated/unlikely from this due to conflicts of interest or recent Founders appearances, so there's not much of that pool to draw from. Please no Drake. I could see Future/YoungThug being one of the top 4.
2. Last year had 4 male headliners so I think they'd like to have at least one female this year. Rihanna comes to mind. Lorde possible too despite the Gov Ball performance.
3. I think the Founders guys are smarter and have better taste than this....but please god no 21P or Imagine Dragons as the Rock $$$.
I'm really looking to hit this fest this fall and I hope it pans out with a decent lineup. I'd be ok with it not being as hip-hop heavy as last year, I don't know if that's realistic though.
Depeche Mode/Gorillaz/Future Bon Iver/Lana Del Rey/Odesza/Alabama Shakes

It's a younger crowd festival in NYC. There's a good chance it stays hip hop heavy and that your get some of the cheese pop rock. The crowd size, age difference between Saturday and Sunday was big last year, I'm thinking they focus on the acts that brought the crowds
