Speaking of old lineups, I wish I could have went back when they had an ATP Friday. Seeing Sonic Youth play all of Daydream Nation or Public Enemy do It Takes A Nation of Millions must have been incredible.

Daydream Nation, Spiderland, and Liquid Swords on the same night in 2007, insane.
So I mean, should we assume the leak is right on the schedule too? Ima be pissed about Survive
survive is really boring and you should skip them if this is the real schedule
If this is the real schedule I'd have to skip them because the way the blue stage operates they'll be playing at the exact same time as tribe. But really? You've seen em and it was that bad?

It's just not an engaging show, but if that's the sort of headspace you're looking for at the moment, it could be worth checking out. They're not bad, but they definitely don't have any stage presence. It's just four dudes standing up on the stage, staring down at synths, twiddling knobs.
I enjoy the music, and I've seen them before at Levitation. If I'm off for the Levitation SXSW showcase, I'll likely be seeing them again.
But I certainly wouldn't skip anyone else I'm interested in seeing in order to see them.

That's the way it'll end up. I'm damn sure not going to miss tribe, but it still would have been cool to check them out

If this is the actual schedule (and there aren't any additions) they booked significantly fewer acts on the blue stage, so hopefully it won't be such a clusterfuck this year.
I think it's less about the number of acts, and more the amount of time between sets. They always try to cram them in within 30 minutes of one another, and it never ends up working out. I'm sure fewer acts will alleviate some of that, but it's more timing IMO.
Who is definitely in on this festival? I already have a ticket and I'm looking at Airbnb options and flights. Going to request Friday and Monday off from work.
Also, although I plan on thoroughly researching every act in this lineup, I'm pretty much making this entire trip based on LCD Soundsystem (never seen them), A Tribe Called Quest (never seen them), Vince Staples (never seen him), and Nicolas Jaar (never seen him as a solo act).
With that in mind, any recommendations for stuff that I should veer towards first while researching this lineup?

Based on the acts you're excited for maybe the avalanches and Danny brown?

Danny isn't for everybody but if you even faintly like him on recording, I'd suggest seeing him live. His shows are always a lot of fun.

I'm definitely going. Now a little run down on most of the lineup. Ones I'd extra recommend for you are bolded. Fri: Madame Ghandi is a light electronic artist, although she might be doing a DJ set looking at the mixes on her soundcloud. Priests are a relatively new post-punk band, pretty standard fare for the genre. Dawn is R&B, William Tyleris country, Frankie Cosmos is indie rock, HGM is folk, Kamaiyah is a female rapper, Arca makes some pretty odd electronic music you might enjoy if you like Nicolas Jaar, I can't find much about Thurston Moore so I'd recommend researching his solo work outside of Sonic Youth on your own time. IMO Danny Brown is the most exciting rap act here, his last album had heavily post-punk influenced beats although he may stick to his festival wheelhouse of pop rap material, and Dirty Projectors have been on an alt R&B kick as of recent material.
Sat: Vagabon is more indie rock, same with Cherry Glazerr, Jeff Rosenstock (my personal favorite undercard act) is straight up punk rock with a rare tinge of ska, Weyes Blood is great singer songwriter material, I have no clue what Francis and the Lights is but I can tell I hate them. S U R V I V E is some pretty lowkey synth music, best known for making the Stranger Things soundtrack. Arab Strap is somewhat of a throwback indie rock act, Madlib is a good rap producer who is probably going to do a DJ set, Mitski is more good indie rock, George Clinton is an incredible funk and soul throwback who will probably be doing material from all over his extensive catalog. Feelies are another older act that one might catalog as indie rock, correct me if i'm wrong. Angel Olsen is an up and coming indie rocker, PJ Harvey is an incredible singer-songwriter as well.
I never could appreciate Sharon Van Etten until I saw her live. Is Angel Olsen the same way? Or should I move on if I don't like her recorded works?
My Woman was one of my favorite albums last year, but I just saw her a few weeks ago at a small club and I was pretty disappointed in the show. I thought her band was really poor and that no one on stage with her even came close to matching her talent level. If you don't like her studio recordings I don't think her live show will win you over based off my recent experience.

whyguy has some good options for you, particularly PJ Harvey. I'd add Thurston Moore Band. I don't know their shit, but I've been a Sonic Youth fan since the 80s where he is a founding member. I've also been wanting to see Joey Purp at a festival. I've only heard one or two songs, but he has some random influences.
I would like to take a moment to say that I couldn't hear for like two days following Arca at DfN, great set, soo loud, I would be super bummed to miss it for LCD, but if you've seen LCD/are some kind of monster and were planning on missing LCD, check out Arca for as long as you can.
