As much as it pains me, Imagine Dragons could be a big possibility. I don't think anyone cares about them at all but here they are on another tour hitting arenas. They haven't played since 2013 when they were an undercard band and I could def see Hangout booking them which would be... not good. For the top female acts I think we'll get one of Lana (Main closer, ugh), Lorde (could be Main or Surf), or Halsey (Surf closer). I'd prefer Lorde of those 3 but I'd be shocked if we didn't have one of them.
I remember when Hangout mocks would get me hype....
Those were the days when we dreamed we could actually get Sir Paul to play....now Lorde and Lana Del Rey look like gold when before I wouldn't haven even considered them headlining tbh.
Yeah u just gotta keep it somewhat realistic given the demo they're going for. They'll obviously still throw some bones like Frank, Sigur Ros and Franz this year. Whether you like them or not, I thought all 3 were kind of outta nowhere for their booking patterns, but overall it'll be predominantly main stream acts. But shit if they get someone like Kendrick and maybe a decent rock headliner that's still fine.
You're probably right on Imagine Dragons. I think Paramore could be in there too. Lump that with a hip hop type and you've got yourself a "Sell out".
Paramore was there two years ago (2015). That seems a little quick to bring back a band like that.
Edit: I know because I watched most of the set because my GF was/is super into them and spent part of the set wandering around looking for the mystery 7pm Lupe set that didn't happen.
Other than Tom Petty, did Hangout ever book a classic rock band? Black Crowes maybe? I forgot RHCP but not really classic. Foos rocked. Jack Whit has a few rock songs. Government Mule can rock. Motörhead rocked. But, a real classic rock band aka:
ZZTop, Doobies, Stevie Nicks, Eddie Vedder, Metallica, GNR, Aerosmith, Neil Young or CSNY, Mellencamp, Santana, Robert Plant, ????

Personally trying to be optimistic and semi-realistic I would like the possibility out of nowhere of possibly The Strokes(hoping they wouldn't cancel) Kendrick Lamar Nine Inch Nails(maybe too heavy for Hangout but I can dream since we've had qotsa before) and Alt-J possibly
Vedder is hitting some late season fests solo (Bourbon and Beyond/Pilgrimage) and seems like a cheap a cheaper way to get Pearl Jam on the beach. There has been some ACL crossover in th headliners and Jay-Z isn't coming and Chili Peppers would add to the already too rock heavy lineup I created so went Gorillaz.

I think we talked about this before but yea... I could definitely see Hangout and Firefly sharing Imagine Dragons. I think it's worse than 21P to be honest, but that's just me.

Their new tour is really not selling so far. They have pretty cheap tickets for an arena act (30 bucks for uppers, 80 for floors) and its more than half empty still at the Verizon Center. Im not sure they will be a headliner next year, especially if the new album doesnt do well.
Heard some great music on ZEW 92 this morning on the way home from the festival. Banquet sounded great. Michael Kiwaunuka (sp?) Is awesome. John Mayer my pick for headliner.

Completely agree. Their music is probably more complex than 21P but that's not saying much. I can't stand that lead singers voice anymore. At least 21P draws the demo they're going for. It sucks but I get it from a business perspective. Imagine Dragons is just a shit booking all around. If they're 4-6 I could live with that because there would probably be a couple decent alternative options on the Fitz and Mermaid stages. I feel like Chili Peppers is that perfect lazy booking Hangout would get and its been 6 yrs since they played. Wouldnt be excited at all but I like them a shit ton more than ID, 21P, or some1 else like that. Kendrick has blown up so much now that I think he's probably out of Hangout's reach but with the GV relationship maybe they could swing it.

Sounds like the perfect negotiating ammo to drive the price down. Firefly will then post some bogus poll numbers that Imagine Dragons were the top band everyone voted to see.
So do we get Lorde on the back half of her festival whore year or Lana early in her next festival whore year? I'd wager a significant amount of money we'll get one of them.
Gotta keep an eye on the Billions.com site that gave us Mumford and Head and the Heart early for 2017. They have some dates in March 2018 up already (not Hangout types).
