Trombone Shorty was a blast last night! Those guys can really play, it was a non stop party! tons of highlights but mine was when they transitioned into RHCP 'Give It Away' and the Sax player running all over the stage singing the first verse. Would love to have these guys back on da beach.

sounds like same set I saw. The sax player was a character. That whole band performs their asses off.
everyone got a solo too. Bass player eventually played while laying down with the rest of the band dancing in circles around him it was great. covered some James Brown, some N.O hip hop teases, and the other Sax hit the notes on 'spottieottiedopaliscious'
you can sync it to youtube and control your TV form your phone. it even lets you close your phone or do other stuff and it will keep playing.
if you like or ever liked wrestling the WWE network is on there and for 10$ a month you get access to almost every show they ever did between every promotion they own and all the current PPV's.
esteban I just bought a Roku. You ever use something like that to stream festivals? Any good apps for that, or suggestions?
It depends on the festival. Different ones stream on everything from specific applications, to directly off of websites, to YouTube, to Red Bull TV, etc. It really depends on the specific festival. Having said that, we got a Ruku Express free when we dumped cable and went to Sling TV 3 months ago. Within Roku, you can download various applications. YouTube is one of those where some of the festivals and some specific artists (e.g. Disco Biscuits, Pretty Lights) stream through their YouTube channels. So yeah, we will do that from time to time. These are the various ways that I can think of that we stream:
1) YouTube App via Roku, PlayStation 4 or xBox - self explanatory. Some festivals stream via YouTube as well as some artists (Disco Biscuits, Pretty Lights, etc.)
2) Microsoft Edge ( "e" ) app in Playstation and xBox - This is for festivals that stream directly from their own websites. You just go to the website and click "play" on the live stream window. All the festivals that stream through Yahoo, aol build, Tidal, etc. can be accessed on their direct website. Also, some of the other services like nugs.net can be reached directly from their website without needing an application.
3) On a PC (obviously can be any type of stream except if you have a mac and can't use Flash which some do)
4) Red Bull TV app. Last I looked at the Roku Store, they didn't have an application for Red Bull TV. However, both xBox and PlayStation 4 do. So you can easily drop one of those onto a gaming system and launch from there. They do Lolla, ACL, Bonnaroo, Primavera, Montreaux Jazz Festival, EDC and Roskilde. You don't actually need the app as you can go to redbull.tv and get the same functions. It's just a bit easier to switch channels in a multi-channel streaming festival on Red Bull.
Our TV's are dumb (e.g. we don't have "smart" TVs). So I'm not sure if there are built in applications in newer TV's that work the same way. I've also not been able to find a browser application to load into Roku, though I'm sure they'll have one at some point. It'd be real easy to go to livelist.com and a couple of clicks later you're watching whatever is going on. There are literally a dozen or more shows every day either audio, audio and video and even PPV.
Let me know if this doesn't make any sense and I'll try to hit more detail.
Edit - and as ne said, you can sync YouTube with your phone and Blue Tooth it over as well as long as you have the YouTube app on your TV.

Are you happy with sling? Live sports are the only thing keeping me in the cable business. Sling just has espn and fs1 right? I would love to cut the chord.
Yes. If you get Blue & Orange (which is $39.99/month or so), you get ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, about 20 FS channels, ACC Network and NFL Network. There are some b.s. channels such as a NatGeo Wild which isn't really the NatGeo Wild channel but a cache of some of their shows. What we did, and it took me about 1 year longer than I wanted to to break down and get it done. Our cable bill with Cox was like $150 for 10mbs Internet and most of the cable channels (but without the premium movie channels). After dumping cable, we were able to get to 100mbs Internet and Sling for about $120. Once I buy my own router/modem, I'll turn in the high-budget one they are renting me for $9/month, and that should pay for itself in about 6 months - plus I own it. Finally, the only other tweak we needed was to get rabbit ears and digital antennas for the local broadcast stations. Admittedly there is a lot of b.s. now besides the basic ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX/PBS on. But you can just delete those channels out of programming if you don't want them in your +/- channel surf.
So between my kids and their Netflix/Hulu accounts, random apps like HBO Go, Sling, broadcast, etc., there's enough on at any given time to watch pretty much whatever you want. You also get the occasional weekend HBO/Showtime/Cinemax on Sling that they just throw out there for a few days. Otherwise, there are some cheezy movie stations like El Rey and Epix Drive-in that will occasionally show interesting movies.
We looked at a lot of different options except PlayStation Vue because it wasn't yet in our area, and we only have one PlayStation but 4 TV's (2 that we primarily watch in our living room). So the TV with the PS4 has a Roku Express (again, free from sling when you pre-pay 2 months - also there's no contract so you can cancel anytime if you don't like it). The other TV is hooked up to the xBox which does have Sling as an application. So we can watch it on either of the TV's. You also can get a mobile app so if you're a tv crackhead, you can watch anything on anywhere you have a connection.
I read a story yesterday that even with AT&T's acquisition of DirectTV factored in, they lost a net 900,000 customers as people continue to dump traditional cable and satellite.
You can also add a shit-ton of other packages or movie channels if you want them. But with theSling Blue and Sling Orange, you'll get these:
A&E AMC AXS TV BBC America (cache of shows) Bloomberg TV Bravo Cartoon Network Cheddar CNN Comedy Central Disney Channel El Rey Network ESPN ESPN2 ESPN3 Flama Food Network Fox Fox Regional Sports FS1 FS2 Freeform FX FXX Galavision HGTV History IFC Lifetime Local Now Maker Nat Geo Wild NatGeo NBC NBC Sports Network Newsy NFL Network Nick Jr. Polaris Syfy TBS TNT Travel Channel USA Network Viceland (best reason for us to have dumped Cox)
You can try it free for 7 days too, and like I said, they'll send you a free Roku Express if you then sign up for 2 months.
I have used both Sling and DirecTvNow (switching back and forth a few times to get multiple free Rokus). Sling is fine if you can live with their channel lineup. They have a sports package add on which I think is $10 on top of the initial $20. I prefer DirectTvNow but it is a little more expensive. You can get HBO for $5 on that if that is a selling point for you. I have never missed a game I want to watch between streaming TV, local TV and an Android Box running Kodi. Went from about $165 for Internet and cable to $85 so I can live with the tradeoffs of occasionally having to watch a game in poor quality through the Android box.
One other thing I forgot to mention about Sling is that if there is a cached show on any of the channels (and they pretty much all have them), you can watch episodes of any of those shows on demand for no cost. You'll see what I mean if you went to Viceland where you can watch the last several days of Desus and Mero, Huang's World, Fuck, That's Delicious (Action Bronson), Nuts & Bolts (Tyler T.C.), B**g Appetite, etc.

Did you just do the blue or the orange for that $20? Because the best deal for variety (even though they have crossover channels on both) is the Blue and Orange for $39.

Think it is just the Blue but if Blue and Orange includes all the sports that seems to be a better deal for that. I like DirectTvNow's Roku format better and saving $10 on HBO is a good deal for us. I don't watch much, if any, live TV outside of sports so it is mostly for the kids.

Oh,and the Redbull TV app is free. If it isn't preloaded on your Roku when you get it, go to "Search channels" and search for it. When you pick it, it will download the app and put it on your home screen. Easy peasy.
As I recall, a good many of our little group here met originally trying to flee the negativity of the Facebook page when this lineup dropped. In retrospect, can one imagine complaining about this?
Haha, is he wrong? Bring em back(from the depths of bankruptcy!)
If anything, good riddance since they screwed over thousands of Pemby ticket holders. We are entering the age of Big Festival.
My understanding from some somewhat inside sources was that they were screwed by the landowners and ended up holding the bag at the end. It supposedly wasn't anything untoward they had done. They've always been solid in my opinion.
There was a while article on how Pemby hadn't turned a profit in most of its existence and how they owed millions to investors. I think they were cooked financially.
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Muse – Deadmau5 - Sturgill Simpson
Travis Scott – Flume - Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats
Schoolboy Q – Porter Robinson – The Offspring
Capital Cities – Glass Animals - Lil Uzi Vert
A little rock heavy at the top for Hangout but Muse with a likely new album, RHCP with the ACL ties, throw in any EDM headliner, etc.
Hope everyone is doing well! Back off the tour. Just had to comment on this one: The Offspring at 10?!?!? They were 4 or 5 at Rock on the Range. On this mock they are 4. Think of the demographics. Would the younguns rather rock to 25 hits of The Offspring or Sturgill Simpson?

Sorry, but I'm a fan of them...
No way would Offspring be 4. Rock on the Range is genre specific. They'd be verty much lower at a large multi genre fest than at that. Plus, a 25 year old probably doesn't even know who The Offsping are. They were one year old when Smash came out and ten when the greatest hits album come out. and that is "old" for this demographic.
Bring that Sex Murder Party goodness to the beach please. Oh my geez y’all Gorillaz A++ sept there probably could have been more gorillas in stage.
Lotta people disliked Sex Murder Party on the album but it's a banger and a half live. Also, that Bonobo live set was pretty impressive with a great light production, addition of a badass soul singer and a band that jamm'd and threw down w the rest of the jamtronic artists.
I would put our chances at Lana Del Ray or Lorde at 99.9% now with Lana's new tour dates. They both have tours going up into April with nothing after. The difference is Lorde is going to be in the US the majority of the time and I could see her going back overseas after. Lana will be here, going overseas in March/April so you'd think she'd be back for May. Both are on the 3/4 borderline and could easily close Sunday's longer Surf Stage slot or be a main headliner any day so we'll see how this pans out. Should be about 5 more weeks if we stay on schedule.
Now that the complete release of a Robert Plant's new album is out there, I'd dig him playing the beach. A "stairway to Heaven/whole lotta love" as a closer would be amazing.
Sturgill Simpson played a rock our butts off set on the Wharf in May. It is not a whiney, slow, country set for sure.
I concur, I see this as a possibility, and he killed it when he played in Columbus. however in my opinion Robert Plant will never be anywhere near a hangout lineup.
