I would say she wasn't in the running anyway but St. Vincent would have been a perfect fit for a tent closer oppo something more pop-mainstream. Oh well. Hopefully they stick to the timeline of late November so I know whether or not to cancel that condo reservation.
This will be my 7th hangout. I didn’t discover this board until the second, however I find it humorous that Pearl Jam has been a rumored headliner every single year. I think it would be great, just don’t see it happening.
i dont expect PJ nor am i a huge fan but are they even more popular or expensive than Foo Fighters?
The first part of the Pearl Jam Roo show was very good. The Foo Fighter shows on the beach were equally very good but different. Different energy. Different in classic songs you've heard a thousand times versus new powerful rock in your face. U2 was about a story or message and Foos just kicked axx. My perspective.
Foos and Queens both playing a fest in Jax, FL a month before Hangout. Queens dates confirmed they were out anyway, but I'd def consider Foos out too. In terms of a top 3 realistic rock act, I'm just hoping they could maybe snag Arcade Fire or Arctic Monkeys. We'll probably end up with ID but those 2 are my hopefuls.

Yeah I know I’ve been on here since the before the 4th year and agree don’t see it happening at this point it’s just one of those things I keep holding out small hope for tho
I look like? Really? I would rather listen to some classic rock, folk, blues, but either of those two ladies or Lorde better than Phoenix, Sigur Rios, Marshmello, and a lot of other people I've heard at Hangout. I guess that would be a "like" light.
Sigur Ros in the same line as Marshmello...painful.
heard on the radio that Beck delayed release of the new album so it would time better for 2018 fest season...no idea if the dj knew what he was talking about.
the weekend after HO he is playing in London at the All Points East festival. wonder if we will get any of the acts announced for there:
Friday May 25: LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Phoenix, Glass Animals, Richie Hawtin CLOSE, Dixon, George FitzGerald. Saturday May 26: The xx, Lorde, Sampha, Popcaan, Lykke Li, Rex Orange County. Sunday May 27: Björk, Beck, Father John Misty, Flying Lotus 3D, Mashrou' Leila, Sylvan Esso, Alexis Taylor, Agoria
GALANTIS | ANDERSON .PAAK | NATHANIEL RATELIFF | SPOON
RL GRIME | UMPHREY'S MCGEE | CHROMEO | PORTUGAL. THE MAN
Billing is probably all over the place but whatever. I'd be right on the fringe.
this would work for me. the bold is a good mix of bands i like and enough that i havent seen. Throw Umph in the tent vs Lorde and im perfect. Dying to see Spoon and A.Paak

umm if hangout dropped a lineup with kendrick, arctic, galantis, spoon, RL daddy, chromeo and PTM id shit my pants then re-book by condo ASAP. my wife would understand. thats like a perfect storm of acts up my ally.
shit Galantis and Chromeo on the beach is enough for me to come back even with Kygo stinking up the 4 slot & 1975. EW
With the word that Jack's new album is almost done, I'd like to think Hangout/GV would at least try to get him back on the beach. Would go a long way for me.

they were one of the first fests to book him in a headline slot if i recall correctly. even some folk i remember complaining about him as a headliner. LMAO
Yeah I saw that too. He said it was in reference to the long term future of the fest as opposed to this year but yeah. It seems like the locals hate it but business wise, it continues to sell well despite the price jump and shittier lineups. Idk y they'd stop tbh.
It would not surprise me if Hangout made a significant change back closer to where they started. I can see GV selling out to someone/something more like the "Innings" or "Pilgramage" festival but on the beach. I don't see it going away completely. They might even change the timing to make more money in a down time. the Songwriters Festival is going on from the 9th-19th in that area. I need to hook that up sometime soon.

Almost everyone I know from south Baldwin will tell you that you're surrounded by Bible thumping assholes. I know lawyers who stopped going to dinner down there on their boats because the cops didn't have enough to do so they started busting people for BWI. Apparently it was pretty normal to run dock to dock for a new appetizer or glass of wine.
Most of the beach community is based on tourism, so there is a level of tolerance from the real estate market. But there are tons of yokels. It's not like you're in Mobile where people are used to different types of people because it's a city. It's nowhere near 100%, but the area is filled with angry, right-wing haters looking to blame someone else for why they're so mad at life rather than understanding they are being told to be mad by their ignorant media choices. There has been a large contingent of bitching people since the early years of Hangout showing up to talk about all the terrible lyrics and stupid shit that goes on with festivals rather than embracing the fact that people are supplementing their tax dollars and allowing them to have a better lifestyle than they otherwise will. If you hate tourists and "them" so much, fuck you IMHO. I wish it would just move to Pensacola Beach or Navarre or somewhere further down the coast or even the MS Gulf Coast where the casinos offer 24 hour bars and such.
Beachbob,
The biggest one that I know of (Singer/Songwriter festivals on the Gulf Coast) is in South Walton County/30-A in January. A buddy of mine's family puts that on.
Looks like the headliners this year are Emmylou Harris, Ann Wilson, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, The Zombies, Lee Ann Womack, Emily Sailers, Shawn Mullins and about another 175 people most of whom I don't know. They do have Tommy Stinson of The Replacements.
LOL...esteban you make me laugh calling people jerkstores, and f'n this and that. I try to get along with all kinds of folks on the Gulf Coast and yep, there are people who you have to watch out for but, I find they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, beliefs, politics, financial status, etc. The main negatives I hear from my friends and family in the Hangout area are a) timing and they would like to move it b) the spring break crowd that is more drunk, drugged, young girls getting in trouble, and just craziness than an older and more mature crowd, and c) most, if not all, the performers are like "never heard of them". When the oil got to the beach Bon Jovi and Brad Paisley did a couple cheap shows on the beach that went over well. The first couple Hangouts were smaller crowds and were less of a), b), and c). I've talked to city council members and it is kinda, "give em rope" but, I think the pressure to make some significant changes is growing. They don't want to be known as the new spring break or people gone wild destination.
