They said they wanted to attract young professionals (unlike the PCB country Jam). Then they mentioned Sheryl Crow as a possible performer. May have to check into it. IMO Gulf Shores > PCB as far as beach, drive time, but haven't spent more than a couple weekends in PCB. Club La Vela was hot in the 1980-1990s.

PCB is corporate, but I’d disagree. It’s superior. I’ve been there probably twice as much as I have been to Gulf Shores. 30A to PCB’s immediate west is the best there is on the Gulf for food (especially) and people. Everything west of 30A in Florida is also > Alabama Coast. The water is prettier. The sand is whiter. The people are more beach oriented and less hung up on shit. On the NW FL Coast, I’d go 30A/South Walton > Destin/Sandestin > Pensacola Beach > Ft. Walton > Panama City Beach > Navarre Beach > Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. Problem with Panama City Beach is finding food. You can get outrageous raw seafood materials if you want to cook, but like on the Alabama Coast, only some people know how to cook it. There are some elite places but tend to be dressier whereas you can get ridiculous food all along Co. Rd 30A. I like the sand cliffs they have on some of those beaches too which is rare for the North Gulf Coast.
I've spent time all up and down the Gulf Coast. PCB was fun in the 80s but I don't agree the beach is any whiter. A rough crowd moved in so I started hitting up Destin and San Destin til the crowds took over. I've enjoyed OBA and Gulf Shores last ten years. I guess it is where your friends hang out and I have family in Pensacola, Perdido, and friends in OBA and Baldwin County. NOLA has the best music, food, things to do and see, if you aren't interested in a beach.

For sure. But the sand is way whiter and water is way bluer. It changes a bit in the swampy areas just east of PCB by Mexico Beach and then it gets better again as you get down to Cape San Blas and points SW of Apalachicola. Then it turns swampy again. What apparently happened was that when the ice age retreated, quartz was ground and came down the Apalachicola River and became the sugar white sand. Once you get to Orange Beach you have some of the bay influence and when you get to the western side of Mobile Bay, influence of the MS River which keeps the water and sand browner.

The Sheryl Crow mention was for one of their other fests "getting more diverse" and not a possibility for this. I bet this gets a lot of cross over from Welcome to Rockville which is the same weekend in Florida and if it leans towards Shaky Knees style adding in some more indie/alternative/90s stuff it could be cool. Condos are going for 2012 Hangout prices for that weekend on Airbnb.
Last time I went to PCB the forest was on fire and the sea was green. Green goo and seawood everywhere. Been to Gulf Shores when jellyfish were bad. Luck of the draw. Interesting about the quartz. I'll be lucking forward to the lineups for these new festivals. I receive Hangout Facebook posts and it definitely is going to be a 16-24 kind of fest. I've got til thirty days prior to make a condo decision and shouldn't have a problem selling Alum GAs. Hoping the performer adds are young bluegrass, blues, and folk. Already too much alternative and EDM for me.
Two tablespoons of cinnamon and two or three egg whites A half a stick of butter melted Stick it all in a bowl baby Stir it with a wooden spoon Mix in a cup of flour You'll be in heaven soon.

Krisp, I do enjoy Chicago. Am going to do my best to hit Riotfest this year. Already have hotel room booked, just need that sweet sweet tic. All y'all Inforooers check out the lineup from this fest for last 3 years. Jeezus, what a fest! In Douglas Park. Have no idea what that's like. Can't be that bad. Just check out that lineup again...
I went to Riot Fest this year. It was fucking amazing. A bunch from Soopergroup go as well. There is a thread dedicated to Riot Fest somewhere on here.
Killer, VieuxCareen! Got my GA tic, so Jah willing, I'll be there in Sep. Will have to check out that thread.

My favorite spot there is Navarre Beach and/or Okaloosa Island. Nice all along there. Pensacola the town is somewhat better than having Baldwin the county above you.

Yeah. I love Okaloosa Island and Navarre. I'm not meaning to downplay that stretch. We have a place in Pensacola, so when we go down to the beach we usually head to the national seashore a few miles east of Portifino but a hair West of Navarre. For me, and it also depends on what you're looking for. But I find all of South Walton to be a world unto itself. I guess it's the money from Nashville, Birmingham, New Orleans, Atlanta and some of the bigger southern cities that's down there, but they have the best lifestyle. All those cities from Seaside, Seagrove Beach, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, Seacrest, etc are so badass. They have restaurants I appreciate. Awesome and stylish planned communities which incorporate nature, bike and jogging paths, fantastic beaches and just a cool ass life. If I planned on retiring to the coast and had the money, South Walton is where it's at. And this is coming from someone who is usually in NWFL every other month.

Agreed. Plus the water seems to be a lot calmer in SoWal compared to Baldwin Co. We go to rosemary every summer and camp in Grayton whenever we can. Red flag conditions along 30A never seem as intense as red flags in gulf shores!

That national seashore is the bomb! I like to head out on the Pensacola side & before you reach the park, you can just pull over on side of road & if it is a weekday, chances are you have your own private beach! Man, I've had some killer days doing that! Great writeup, esteban!
Well, at least I can thank Hangout for letting me stumble upon a band Ive never heard of, completely sober and dancing my ass off, resulting in 10 repeat concert visits.

Though I was not there I can also thank Hangout for leading cmack to this set bcuz in turn he loved it so much he bought me a ticket for my bday that year and I fell in love with Tribe too.
Could I get a show of hands on who’s still planning to attend? All the recent lineup drops have me finally recognizing what a trash-heap Hangout has this year.

Although I’m slightly sad that Tool will be headlining a festival in my town the same weekend that I am on beach vacation where the chainsmokers are headlining. 🤷🏻♂️

Have not officially cancelled, but I am most likely out.
