That's pretty killer! Up here in KY, Turkauz is going to be at this little place called Cosmic Charlies (think of a pretty rich person's garage) in Lexington on 11 Jan. Y'all who've seen them know all about em. It will be pretty wild, I assure you.
went to my first LCD show last night an maaaaan they did not disappoint! Seriously was an incredible show with a damn near perfect setlist for me. I know James Murphy is a weird guy so i didnt know what to expect from him but he was really into every song, definitely added to the show.
It doesn’t get any more you than a festival that encourages fans to bring instruments to jam together and with the artists. They have the first wave out with Alison Krauss at the top. I know it’s more bluegrass and Appalachian but still...Owensboro isn’t that far for a day or two run. I have only ever driven through Kentucky, but at some point I want to run through some of those distilleries.
Definitely! The folks at these bluegrass jams blow me away. The July 4th show in Smithville is the daddy of them all and I believe it is live feed. smithvillejamboree.com/.
Owensboro is about two hours from here. 27-30 June is a maybe. My son has a birthday in that time frame so may be a rock show instead of bluegrass. I love Allison Krauss and her Hangout Show was awesome. Mostly because I was in the front row. The sound kinda sucked and the breeze was hard on a bluegrass show. Ricky Skaggs was playing at Bluegrass Inn in Nashville years ago when my buddies and I walked in early AM hammered and he sang Happy Birthday to me as I passed out on the floor.
If you are looking for some awesome classic rock gifts for Christmas, I highly recommend The Rolling Stones Totally Stripped compilations that came out this past summer. Stones at a lot of small venues like Voodoo Lounge. ITunes has a few discounted albums that are well worth the money. I also bought Gary Clark Jr Live and Russell Smith and the Amazing Rhythm Aces. Can't wait to see them at Douglas Corner Cafe next Friday.
Looks like Hangout changed their name on Facebook...technicality. Also pre-sales end 17 December. I'm sensing this could be a down year for Hangout but hey, I'm planning another beach buzz come May 2018.
See that pool right there in your avatar? I'll still go to water parks with my mouth closed, but I've kind of quit swimming in pools over the several months after that story came out that yeah, it's not just chlorine. I wouldn't trust a pool at a music festival even a little bit. :/

A research team testing 31 pools and hot tubs in Canada found evidence of urine in every single one of them, Gizmodo reports. On average, there were 8 gallons of urine in a 110,000-gallon pool and 18.5 gallons of urine in a 220,000-gallon pool. According to the Guardian, the results were even grosser for hot tubs. One hotel hot tub was found to have three times the urine level of the worst swimming pool.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong lookin like a go for Roo. I know some of the guys in here are big fans. One decent step towards a hopefully serviceable lineup.
Yeah, but it's really hard to believe that adults would whiz in a pool or hot tub. A friend growing up had the sign in their pool bathroom, "We don't swim in your toilet, so please don't pee in our pool." I would never have thought to do that to anyone's pool or hot tub. If you're in the ocean or something, no big deal. Everything else pisses in the ocean too. But a pool, bleck.

They were on that "leaked" lineup that came out with the same artwork. Is that legit? I don't know if I'd do Roo for Pigeons, but I'd do most any other fest for them. Seeing them for the 19th time in February.
It's not legit but I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of crossover just because a lot of those acts make sense. Sounds like Fleetwood Mac was a pipe dream so idk what their top 3 is gonna look like besides the Killers.

Another reason to avoid VIP. I jumped in once, looked around, and right back out. The pool at the condo is pretty well managed. I enjoy all sorts of lake activities and track fresh water tests. Not as bad as some studies would have you believe. What was naturally present in water, soil, food, etc., twenty years ago is suddenly a problem. Diet Cokes, Mickey Ds, perscription drugs, tobacco + chemicals, obesity, alcoholism among the bigger problems out there.

Last year was Dirt Band, Punch Brothers, Yonder Mountain, KW’s Grateful Grass and Los Lobos so a lot of picking going on there.
esteban, I've been to the last 5 ROMPs & I can assure you that if you love bluegrass, you will be in heaven at Yellow Creek Park. Bands I've seen there on the 1 stage where you can get as close as close can get: Spinney Brothers, G2, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, David Grisman Sextet, Sam Bush Band, OCMS, Railroad Earth, Pokey LaFarge, 23 String Band, Punch Brothers, Sarah Jarosz, Del & Dawg, Billy Strings (could go on for 3 more lines). Best atmosphere, laid back, no searching at all. Hope any of y'all come!
Thanks man. I was just throwing it out to Bob as I won't be able to travel late June. But it sounds like a pretty hip thing they've got going on there. And I'd go to you for advice since you are the one mf I know of in Kentucky.

Random but did anyone in the group do presales for sloss fest? Haven’t been since the first year but my crew was ready to go back so hopped on presales and saved $75 it looks like for after the lineup is announced.
Yes, it is one thing to swim in a well maintained pool shared by less than 20-30 hotel or condo occupants and a small temporary pool servicing hundreds of sweaty and sandy drunks.
I've been peeing in pools since the 70's so I'm a little confused by the kerfuffle?
Edit: I should add that I'm not some sneaky weirdo that is just standing next to you in the pool and peeing and laughing to myself...I get out of the pool and piss from the edge so everybody knows what's up.
If I ever scratched together the cash to go VIP at Hangout. I would 100 percent pee in that pool. And I would think about esteban while I did it.
Haha. I hope your Hangout polluted piss is particularly warm and cloudy that day so you can make sure that other people are drinking mouthfuls of vintage.
