Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So many good concerts in May timeframe. Sweetwater a lot better for me than Shaky Knees. Let's see what Roo throws up.
Good call Bob.
Must say there's alot of acts 5 or 6 rows on down to bottom that I've never heard of. Larkin Poe is badass. That's about all I know from the smaller acts. IMO, lineup not as good as last year. Still Roo, though!
Sad to see all the inforooers bailing on Hangout but I am with you. This is the first time since 2012 that we won’t be down there. beachbob let me know when/if you plan a trip down here for another time. I’m still waiting to see what the new festival Sand Jam is going to offer. They were supposed to release a lineup in December but they’ve been silent since announcing the festival in November... anyone heard anything? Panama City Beach would be doable for us geographically speaking. I wish I could say the same for BottleRock! Diggin that undercard.
on top of it im pretty sure this is PTM's 4th time playing
yes sir. i used to have a running joke that the FLIPs played every year. now it seems PTM have the record.
but honestly if youre a band touring arounf the US why wouldnt you wanna make this fest a stop. you basically get a short beach vacay that you aint gunna get playing The Bomb Factory in dallas.
Hangout awful compared to some other lineups including Bonnaroo and Sweetwater. Bottlerock would be Earth, Wind and Fire, Head and the Heart, Billy Idol, Muse, Incubus, and the same lowercard I would want to see as Bonnaroo. Then there are Doobies and Steely Dan, The Eagles, Rod Stewart, and I'm sure a whole bunch of concerts fore late spring and summer that give you an hour and a half to two hours of a performer you like. I love the Ryman, the Tivoli in Chattanooga, and Ascend for that outdoor setting in downtown Nashville.
That second line besides PTM... My God in heaven... And even PTM is yet another repeat that just played 2 years ago. Shit is ridiculous.
Have seen Halsey, Lolla in 2016, & I enjoyed her set alot. I do like that trash, though :-) Some of the others, I have no idea who or what they are. Love PTM!!

We have not but I was thinking about this the other day. I saw a ton of good shows last year. Gonna go Top 5 in order, and then 3 Honorable Mentions...
1. Metallica @ Soldier Field
2. U2 @ Bonnaroo
3. Nine Inch Nails @ Riot Fest
4. Coldplay @ Soldier Field
5. Arcade Fire @ United Center
HM: Roger Waters @ United Center, Future Islands @ Bonnaroo (pit), Run The Jewels @ Aragon Ballroom
I actually got picks from most of these shows. Nothing special but I like to relive 'em every once in awhile.
There is a thread in the lounge for Top shows of 2017. I had it:
1. STS9 Axe The Cables @ Joy Theater I honestly can’t say that either this or Sigur Ros was better, but I guess how much even better this was than I had hoped, it gets 1. Masterpiece show to cap Weekend 1 of Jazz Fest. Offbeat called it glorious.
2. Sigur Ros @ Saenger Theatre Anyone who saw the tour knows. It wasn’t a perfect setlist for me, but the show was still near perfection. The way they built that show was pioneering. And the sound they got as a 3 piece was pretty stunning. I hope to get another chance to see Sigur Ros in 2018. And if only once, I hope it would be in Houston at Day for Night, and I’d also hope they play at least one old catalog set of material like they were doing this fall in Europe.
3. U2 at the Superdome They have been at the top of the realistic want to see list for decades. I just never got a chance to see them. I’m most partial to Unforgettable Fire, and when Bad came on, I got up from my seat and went to the top of the stairs so I could scream that shit and hopefully not be noticed much for being a suck singer or for the tears that I wouldn’t be able to fight. Thanks to U2 for adding this show to the tour.
5. Foo Fighters at Voodoo Fest Fucked over by live nation with a 90 minute set, but the show was wonderful and proved to me again they are the best live rock band on the planet. Lots of the connected audience was in tears at certain moments. Having Queens drummer Roger Taylor’s son out to play drums while Taylor Hawkins sung Under Pressure was great as was the drum/guitar trade off. Fuck some haters because the FF are at the top of their elite game.
6. Tycho @ Buku Fest 3 months after the beautiful 2016 Day for Night set, I got to catch them again. And they were better. Blissful shit.
7. moe. @ Orpheum Theatre Night 2 of 3. Jambase featured this show. It was so fucking good and along with my #1 set shows why Jazz Fest nights are as good as they are. It was unfortunate that I couldn’t run the trifecta, but there was too much going on. Fwiw jabco told me Night 3 was also killer.
8. Ice Cube @ ACL Weekend 1 I was amped for this and knew it would be a big show for me. I hadn’t seen Ice Cube since like 92, and in a year where rap would take over the world - even if it ends up being only for a little while - he is one of the greatest. Chuck D is #1 for me, but Ice Cube is up there. He couldn’t do F the Police on the heels of Las Vegas, but he still brought the goods. Hopefully Jazz Fest or Voodoo bring him here in 2018.
9. GrizMatiK at Buku Fest Best wilding set of the year. GRiZ rules, Gramatik rules, GrizMatiK rules. Buku rules. Wild ass party show.
10. Pretty Lights pop up parade and show under I-10 NOLA remixed. Fun and respectful to traditions.
HM - Radiohead @ Smoothie King Center, Dave Chappelle's Juke Jive with Chance the Rapper, Vince Staples, Jarobi White, Kardinal Official, Estelle, etc., NAS with Soul Rebels @ Jazz Fest, Snoop Dog @ Jazz Fest, Stevie Wonder @ Jazz Fest, Widespread Panic @ Jazz Fest, Sleigh Bells @ Buku, Umphrey's McGee, Muse, Trey Anastasio Band @ Jazz Fest, Gramatik @ Buku Afterparty, Tim Hecker @ Day for Night Festival
2017 was one of my better concert years, at least the ones I can remember. LOL
1. Mumford and Sons at Hangout...excellent show. 2. Doobie Brothers with Chicago at Ascend in Nashville VIP. The meet and greet was awesome as was the show. Bucket list check for sure. 3. U2 at Bonnaroo. Another check on the bucket list. 4. Sturgill Simpson at the Wharf in Gulf Shores. Dude blew me away. Hanging with Mr and Mrs Brewdude also a heck of a lot of fun. 5. OCMS at the Grand Old Opry with my son. Add in Marty Stuart and Charlie Worsham for a very solid evening of great music from the pit.
HM: Mutemath, The Head and the Heart, Weezer, Band of Horses, and Jimmy Lumpkin and the Revival at Hangout were all super shows. Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real, Greensky Bluegrass, Royal Blood, Michael Kiwanuka, Umph and Margo Price at Bonnaroo were also excellent shows. I think Margo was better with Sturgill.
Its really, really hard to pin down a top 5 but ill go with:
1. Pharrell @ The Roots Picnic. I knew this was my top show the second the set ended. The Roots backed him and Black Thought was on stage all show free-styling throughout and the focus was more on older NERD stuff and songs he produced. They brought out NORE, a 90's RnB female group im blanking on (SVM or something like that) and Pusha T to do about 5 Clipse songs which is when I lost it bcuz that first Clipse album Lord Willin is still one of my faves of all time.
2. Gorillaz (w/Vince Staples opening) @ Festival Pier w/Cmack. I went in as a casual fan and was blown away. We managed to score VIP passes that included free beer with elevated viewing and cover from the rain.
3. Jay-Z @ Made In America. Despite not getting any State Property appearances he tore it down and played 33 songs and blew past curfew. The encore was nothing short of spectacular with some rare stuff like his Pump It Up freestyle from a DJ Clue album way back.
4. LCD Soundsystem @ The Fillmore. First time ever seeing them and had a really great spot. Wasnt sure what to expect from James Murphy but he was really into and the crowd was going wild all night. The sound and production were top notch and I got nearly a perfect setlist.
5. Arcade Fire @ Wells Fargo Center. Scored tix for like 30$ through a venue offer since ticket sales were slow,we were in the lower level like row 20 but it was pretty empty leading up to the show so we moved dead center row 1 with the band facing us while being elevated above the pit. Another amazing setlist for what I like and they elevated certain songs that I already liked. Closed out with Pres Hall backing them.
HM: RTJ at the Electric Factory (today marks one year), The Revivalists @ Festival Pier and later that night Lizzo @ The Foundry (most fun day of the year), and Trombone Shorty @ The Fillmore.
Getting ready to purchase a Bonnaroo ticket and car pass. Too many bands on the undercard I want to see. Being 20 miles away, easy decision. Hope for good weather.
I'm gonna hold on the the Hangout tickets and condo until cancel without penalty. Money not the issue. If I cant sell them, may make a vacation out of it. A couple non-headliners and maybe Killers will be fun.
Man, the deep dive into the Bonnaroo lineup blew my mind. Something for everyone. I will give it all I got to hit up the only jazz musician on the lineup. I like the folk, songwriters, country, and some of the rock, alternative, dance, soul and R&B. I will pass on the rest. I wish Hangout had an equally diverse lineup. There is something on the lineup called "Grand Ole Opry". The Osborne Brothers are also listed. Maybe a Friday night Opry show at Bonnaroo? That would be awesome! Alt-J and Muse will be my stretch shows. If I am not dying, worn out, etc., I'll try to make those. I am hopinh Sheryl Crow, OCMS, and Sturgill are NOT IN THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY AND IN THE BIGGEST PASTURE WITH NO SHADE!!!!
Probably going to be Hangout and Bonnaroo this year. Too many repeats to justify other festivals. Planning on seeing TTB indoors somewhere.

2017 was a great year for fests for me with a couple good shows thrown in.
1. Gorillaz- Life is Beautiful Fest All the guests that they had, their band and Damon’s voice we’re spot on, and they production was top notch!
2. The Killers- Voodoo Fest. I know few will agree with me on the board but I’m a huge fan of them and for my 2nd time seeing them they they did not disappoint. Always fun to watch and they sound great suntheir production was even better this time this Hangout 2014 imo.
3. Kendrick Lamar- Voodoo Fest i mean this dude is called king Kendrick for a reason in hip hop he can’t be touched
4. The xx- Life is Beautiful Fest just knew a couple songs when waiting on Gorillaz wasn’t sure how i would like them love but was immediately blown away by them and became an instant huge fan.
5. Weezer- Hangout Fest this was a band i have missed so many times due to work schedules and had wanted to see and instantly while watching thought why are they not headliner over Phoenix and 21 Pilots
6. Foo Fighters- Voodoo Fest like Esteban said idc what anyone says these guys for sure are the top rock band in the world and at the top of their game also like he said tho way too short of a set for them here is why they’re not as high on my list and this was the one night at Fest i May have drink a few too many before they’re set unfortunately.
7. 2 Chainz- Life is Beautiful Fest i know that a lot of y’all are thinking wtf on this one but easily one of the most fun and hype shows i have been too while he was in a wheelchair with his leg broke.
8. RHCP- Smoothie King Center Nola- man i know people rag on them but still one of my favorite bands and that night they put everything they had into that show plus brought out trombone shorty, rebirth brass band, Ivan Neville, and George Porter Jr. for an encore of give it away
9. Green Day- The Wharf Gulf Shores just honestly such a fun show on the floor and up close
10. Band of Horses- Hangout Fest they sounded great but ending their set in the rain and everyone dancing to them in the rain was one of those perfect fest moments
I am loving a big part of the Bonnaroo lineup...one of my favorites I'm sure. Between the vacation at Hangout in May on the beach and the music on the farm in June...gonna be good! Talked my son into going to Roo with me. Another conversion to the sounds of whatever you feel.
Wow, there's been alot of sets I've seen in last page that I wish I was at! For me, these 10 (in chronological order) sorta stood out from the approx 250 sets I saw in 2017:
Papa Roach at Rock on The Range Franz Ferdinand at Mercury Ballroom in Louisville U2 at Bonnaroo Cage the Elephant at Bonnaroo Sturgill Simpson at Forecastle Green Day at Riverbend in Cinn. Blackfoot Gypsies at Moontower in Lexington, KY Justin Timberlake at Pilgrimage Fest Eagles of Death Metal at Louder Than Life Prophets of Rage at Louder Than Life
Honorable Mention to The Offspring at Rock on The Range, The Damned at Mercury, Portugal. The Man at Roo, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real at Roo, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at ROMP, Beach Slang at Forecastle, Weezer at Forecastle, Social Distortion at Mercury, Cherub at Moontower, Robert Randolph & Family Band at Loufest, Avett Bros. at Pilgrimage, Larkin Poe at Pilgrimage, 5 Finger Death Punch at Louder Than Life.
Hope y'all were at some of these, cause they were all badass. Hoping for even better 2018!
