Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Wow, there's been alot of sets I've seen in last page that I wish I was at! For me, these 10 (in chronological order) sorta stood out from the approx 250 sets I saw in 2017:
Sum 41 at Rock on The Range Franz Ferdinand at Mercury Ballroom in Louisville U2 at Bonnaroo Cage the Elephant at Bonnaroo Sturgill Simpson at Forecastle Green Day at Riverbend in Cinn. Blackfoot Gypsies at Moontower in Lexington, KY Justin Timberlake at Pilgrimage Fest Eagles of Death Metal at Louder Than Life Prophets of Rage at Louder Than Life
Honorable Mention to The Offspring at Rock on The Range, The Damned at Mercury, Portugal. The Man at Roo, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real at Roo, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at ROMP, Beach Slang at Forecastle, Weezer at Forecastle, Social Distortion at Mercury, Cherub at Moontower, Robert Randolph & Family Band at Loufest, Avett Bros. at Pilgrimage, Larkin Poe at Pilgrimage, 5 Finger Death Punch at Louder Than Life.
Hope y'all were at some of these, cause they were all badass. Hoping for even better 2018!
Totally forgot about Pilgrimage when I was thinking back...Eddie Vedder solo blew me away...I was ready to walk when I saw he didn't have a band, but he delivered.
Do you guys recommend Hangout as a good “First Festival”? I’ve never been to one and I don’t want to be overwhelmed by the crowds. If that makes sense. Also I live near there so Hotels and stuff won’t be a problem.

I'd say so. I know several folks who made Hangout their first, but it was back when most of the attendees weren't still in incubators, so I don't know about the crowd now. If you go and are able, get a condo within walking distance and stay from Wednesday to Wednesday. You'll have a beach vacation with a music festival in the middle of it. The days before will be getting settled in and those days on the beach afterwards recalling your favorite moments of the weekend is hard to beat. Plus it's fun to watch the festival break down.

1) If you like the lineup, particularly the headliners 2) if you don't mind standing a football field away from the two main stages to avoid being in a crowd 3) if you like the beach, sun, etc 4) if you like the college fraternity and sorority crowd and 5) you can afford $500 or more depending on GA, VIP, and food/alcohol. EDIT: where you decide to stay.
you should have a pretty good time. Meeting up with friends makes any festival a lot better.

We might need more information as far as your musical taste, age range, expectation, but I would say it is.
Most of the distasteful views here are due to 1) Having gone to numerous festivals previously and just being bored of the line up/artists weve seen already and 2) A general shift in musicality from the original line-ups (mostly jam to now mostly pop/top 40 rock, hip hop, edm)).

Living close doesn’t make it a painful issue besides the majority of the lineup. It’s a fun beach time, and nearly everyone on this thread used to go with a holdout or two still attending. If you are okay with the lineup and can score cheap local tickets, it’s probably going to be a fun time. Expect a much younger base of attendees than what used to be a somewhat more diverse crowd. It’s going to be mostly high school and college kids this go round.
I would probably go to some select sets if I lived down there but gone are my days of hanging out there for 10-11 hours a day. I think I remember seeing about 3 or 4 acts a day this time around which is just too light for a travel fest.
Another bonus is Kendrick is playing and St. Vincent and Slightly Stoopid and Pussy Riot. But there are too many bad acts to overcome the select good ones.
Just purchased two seats on row 15 front, floor, for Volunteer Jam 2018, March 7th at the Bridgestone in Nashville. I am a huge fan of Charlie Daniels and have been to several Jams over the years.
I am not anointed with thread add privilege. If someone can add the Jam to the Nashville music thread, that I can't find, or create a thread, I would appreciate it.

I’m just now graduating high school so. I also listen to pretty much everything from Country to Hip-Hop. I mostly listen to Top40 since you get a mix of all genres.

The Hangout is the right festival for you, my friend
Mrs. Blotter and I are planning on driving down there in the early afternoon on Sunday to try and score cheap wristbands to see Kendrick and Greta Van Fleet. If worse comes to worse, I assume Greta will be playing the Surf stage and we can go watch them from the Pink Pony for free, and could easily hear Kendrick from the street outside the fest if wristbands don't happen.

If anyone is interested in sloss fest iron pass I’ll be selling my presale for that cost before fees. Bob the lineup actually looks right on point with your taste man just personally not for me. And i do not mean that negative in any way at all.

Thanks for thinking about me, appreciated! I am about maxed out on 2018 festivals. Volunteer Jam in March, Hangout in May, and Bonnaroo in June pretty good for me. I've seen a lot of Chris and Jason lately. I will pick up St Paul, Moon Taxi, and others at Roo. July is usually hot as heck and that is lake and boat season for me. Hope you find someone to take your tickets.

No problem at all man just remember you helped me help my buddy out with his Hangout Fest ticket last year and knew these were a a lot of performers you mention. But hell yeah aweosme man and thanks as well!
A lot of artists/bands calling it quits. Black Sabbath, Neil Diamond, Elton John, Slayer, The Warped Tour, and Lynyrd Skynyrd are some of them. Time loves a hero...
Jazz Fest, Sweetwater, and a few other festivals looking great. Bonnaroo will be fine. Hangout at the bottom of the list in 2018 IMO. I checked on condo rentals and there are some that are waaaay overpriced and a few reasonable. The condo by IWW has a couple beach front rooms for around $200 a night.
I'm still planning on Volunteer Jam in March, Hangout in May, and Bonnaroo in June. Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to festival season.
Looking to sell 2 VIP passes @ loyalty price, Being I. My order 30s and having a toddler definitely gets in the way of festival season. Hoping to make it work next year as the VIP is second to none. Message me if you’re interested
Credit card's gonna take a beating in the next couple weeks. Couple pit seats for 2 nights of DMB, couple tickets for 2 nights of Pearl jam at Wrigley, and then a couple tickets for Elton John's farewell tour. Gonna be worth it though. Can't see as many shows now with the kid on the way, but those 3 weekends will be ones to look forward to.

A little more lo key, but I just picked up tix for Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Matt and Kim on a Wed and Fri of the same week in April. Hangout tune up
i had a nice pre-supberbowl weekend of shows. Umph killed it on Friday night, top 2 or 3 of theirs for me out of 7. Finally saw DMX on Saturday after he bailed at MIA and i have missed him several others times over the years. The mofo didnt come on til close to 1230 at a show that started at 8 lol. Sent out 2 dudes to play at like 1030 to relentless boos. BUT once he came out it was on and it was great, i got everything i needed except Whats My Name which is still annoying i dint get to hear it live.
So many really good lineups and Hangout fails big time. You expect Bonnaroo and Jazz Fest to be better because they are bigger but, when Sweetwater 420, Shaky Knees, Lock'n, Forecastle, Sloss Fest, Peach Fest, and more blow the Hangout Lineup away, it is time for a change. Between Volunteer Jam and Bonnaroo I'm going to see a lot of good bands.
Feeling more like Hangup than Hangout this morning.
