I've thought some form of CSN&Y would be a good Sunday night closer. Hearing Neil Young sing Southern Man in Bammy would be a hoot.
Ditto Earth, Wind, and Fire, Steely Dan, Journey, Doobies, or any form of Fleetwood Mac. I hear Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham have a new album and playing festivals with Stevie Nicks.
A man can wish.

I've seen a few comments but I personally had a blast at 21 pilots set for all that they got to play and tried to perform as much as possible due to weather still really don't get their hate they're pretty awesome live. Where as imagine dragons I could easily hope we get passed on them! Also I feel crazy cuz in the fest lineup wish world I still do not get the love of arcade fire everyone has. They are just a band to me that doesn't sound good or even gag any excitement imo at all but can see them headlining next year for sure.
moten33 - I have Daft Punk, Skrillex, Outkast, Zedd, and others in my playlist and great on the boat and beach. I rarely if ever listen to Mumford and Sons or Sturgill Simpson at home but, damn they were good live during vacation.
My wheel house is predominantly easier, classic, and strings/songwriter focused music suitable for the deck and not freaking the neighbors out. Most nights it is John Mayer "Where The Light: Live in LA", Jason Isbell "Live From Alabama", Boz Scaggs "Greatest Hits Live", or Tedeschi Trucks Band "Everybody's Talkin Live". My wheelhouse is pretty diverse, 63 GB of itunes, but very little rap or hip hop. I put Porter and Dolly in the same boat as Beyonce and Jay Z and that would be not on my stereo.

I was on my way to 21 Pilots after a couple songs by Sigur Ros. I know I would have liked them more, but not as much as a classic rock or blues band.
TRAVIS SCOTT/ AVETT BROTHERS / PORTER ROBINSON / IMAGINE DRAGONS Mac Miller / The Shins / The OffSpring / At the Drive In Zeds Dead / D.R.A.M / Eagles of Death Metal / St. Paul and the Broken Bones Michael Kiwanuka / Borgore / Chicano Batman / Kaleo
I've never made one of these, so cut me some slack.

I can understand that a lot bob I'm more of an alternative rock kind of guy with grunge and even pop rock at times if I'm being honest. Also enjoy a ton of the folk blues rock kind of stuff and a ton of hip hop. Never been a fan of just listening to edm but as far as going to edm shows they are fun as can be!
Green Day - Kendrick Lamar - Lorde Tame Impala - Blink 182 - Bassnectar
I really was thinking the other day I bet Green Day headlines this year. Just because in the past we've had a couple bands like KOL Phish and 21 Pilots play the wharf and that coming up year they play Hangout Fest where it wasn't Phish TAB did play. Could make sense

Lol, this is hangout. Just trying to be realistic here. And haven't avett headlined before?
Travis Scott is between headliner and pre-headliner status. Hangout isn't as big as some people make it out to be, though they get "popular" headliners. Obviously these are not as big, but Travis Scott was #2 at Buku (14,000), #2 at Day for Night (20-25k). And he was #3 on the day he played Coachella. Hangout barely ties Coachella's shoes. But that day went Radiohead #1, The xx #2 and Travis Scott #3. If you extrapolate that out, Future (who like it or not is easily a headliner these days) was #3 on Saturday and Justice and New Order were #3 and #4 on Sunday.
He'd probably be #4 or #5 on a Hangout lineup. If he is releasing more stuff between now and the booking date and it's well received, you could see him closing Surf one day or easily HL'ing the Boom Boom tent. JMO. I'm not sure what the City Council would think about him. I'm not a giant fan, though I have a lot less hate for him than most people. The fact he's been arrested at least once for inciting riots and also is the subject of at least one lawsuit for egging on a fan to dive from a balcony, he may be a little too controversial for Hangout.

show me from previous years how you came to this conclusion? last time avetts bros played they were #7 and i dont even think they got to close surf stage.

lets be honest here Big E, i like buku's style but buku headliners are boom boom tent closers or surf stage at best.

Deadmau5 headlined buku, deadmau5 closes the main stage. Avett was 7, pretty sure they closed main stage one night. Probably wrong.

Better than most if us. I know sparkysarah will love your Shins selection. I like Avetts, Porter Robinson, St Paul, Michael Kiwanuka (a lot), and Kaleo for sure.

I am very thankful krisplettuce doesn't control the lineup. I would never go to Hangout again.
Who are you kidding? There's no way you're ever not going to Hangout health and life issues aside. It's moved farther away from you and your love for blues and classic rock than anything. You probably would have given it up by now if you were going to. You might even threaten to not go back next year when you see the lineup equals a high school dance. But you'll be back. I'm pretty much making that decision for you easy and giving you some cover on this.
esteban. Last year's lineup sucked. Then everyone talked up Lenny's performance. Bummed I missed that. Agree that I want to see my friends, enjoy the beach and food, but the lineups have gotten pretty ewwwww. I wasn't going this year but sure glad I did. While Goldenvoice talks up a big frat/sorority party, I found some damn good performances in that lineup. I'm just poking at krisplettuce. I think a half beachbob and half krisplettuce lineup works out pretty good.
If any of the Hangout regulars are going to the farm next week and need help, PM me and I'll do my best to help you out. It looks like the weather will be good but, it weather here has been totally unpredictable since I got home from the beach. It has been cool at night, but they are saying that might end next week. Sunday is supposed to be the rain day.
