moten33 - I have Daft Punk, Skrillex, Outkast, Zedd, and others in my playlist and great on the boat and beach. I rarely if ever listen to Mumford and Sons or Sturgill Simpson at home but, damn they were good live during vacation.
My wheel house is predominantly easier, classic, and strings/songwriter focused music suitable for the deck and not freaking the neighbors out. Most nights it is John Mayer "Where The Light: Live in LA", Jason Isbell "Live From Alabama", Boz Scaggs "Greatest Hits Live", or Tedeschi Trucks Band "Everybody's Talkin Live". My wheelhouse is pretty diverse, 63 GB of itunes, but very little rap or hip hop. I put Porter and Dolly in the same boat as Beyonce and Jay Z and that would be not on my stereo.
I like most of the stuff you like with a lean more towards jam stuff. Never had heard you mention Skrillex before and doesn't really fit with most of the other stuff you usually bring up but it's cool to have range in music tastes.
Part of the reason I like Hangout and festivals. Gives a lot of folks the chance to play or listen to a wide variety of music. I've enjoyed everything from Mavis Staples, to Steve Winwood, OCMS, Motorhead, and Big Freedia. Yes, it is cool to enjoy variety. I'm sure there is some hip hopper/rapper out there I would enjoy listening to, but usually the crowd is no bueno and there is someone else I'd rather hear.
TRAVIS SCOTT/ AVETT BROTHERS / PORTER ROBINSON / IMAGINE DRAGONS Mac Miller / The Shins / The OffSpring / At the Drive In Zeds Dead / D.R.A.M / Eagles of Death Metal / St. Paul and the Broken Bones Michael Kiwanuka / Borgore / Chicano Batman / Kaleo
I've never made one of these, so cut me some slack.
Don't know who Travis Scott is, but would show for The MF Shins!!
No way on Mumford = Green Day. Agree Weezer and Blink 182 are Cali bands but, Weezer live was really good and I'd have to see it to believe it WRT them being equal.
I didn't go to see any of the rest of those and wouldn't go to see any of their equals. Finding Band of Horses, Franz Ferdinand, The Head and the Heart, Jimmy Lumpkin, Mutemath, Strumbellas, Joseph, Joshua James, and a few others saved the lineup for me. I hope GV can do that again next year.

they do it every year. and while im a big mumfords fan i can admit that green day is a bigger deal.
honestly they're prolly too big so maybe Muse instead.
It'd be nice if they could appease me next year and just stick someone solid in the tent oppo the inevitable shit headiner. Like if you want to book Imagine Dragons as a top 3 headliner then give me Future Islands or Glass Animals or Royal Blood in the tent. They've at least been good with that the last 2 years with Foals and Sigur Ros.
I still don't get the Future Islands love around here. Other than the dudes sweet dance moves and the fact they went to ECU (Go Pirates!), it is just a bunch of weird growling that doesn't seem to go with the music to me.
If u don't like the growling I get it. He doesn't really do it on the albums though. The vocals are much smoother. I don't think I'd listen to live versions of their songs on my own, it's about the live experience with them. I thoroughly enjoy listening to the album versions though (probably because I can actually understand what Sam is saying). They're obviously not for everyone, that's fine. All that said I can't wait to see them from the pit at Roo in a week.
Turns out I've seen FI four times (Red 7 in Austin, Hangout 2015, FFF Fest 2015, SXSW 2017). His vocals are surreal up front and in an intimate setting, and he's a fucking performer. Musically, the band is reminiscent of 80s synthetic but again, the live setting just translate so well to a night of fun, danceable beats and basslines. Couple w Sam's enthralling command of the stage and it's a great show.
I will say seeing them in the middle of the afternoon rake a lot of the atmosphere away, but that happens to any band.

wow glass animals in the tent. i never knew i needed this until now
Just getting home from Terrapin Flyer with Melvin Seals and really want to start it but I don't think I can make it through the first episode. Cannot wait.
Played at local club last night. Bonnaroo is the talk of the town. A lot of fundraiser beer booths taken away from community supposedly for low ticket sales. I enjoyed playing with my local buds but, they can''t rock it like the Inforoo crew.

I'm happy to hear they're not hitting expectations with ticket sales. #1 this may cause them to change their recent lineup mold and #2 with this being my first Roo, I'm hoping for lighter crowds anyway. There's enough on their lineup this year (and the sched workes perfect for me) but it does suck to see the stray from their past lineup construction. Maybe LN just doesn't give a shit either tho. 55-60k tickets may be all they need.

Are u still going this year, Bob?
Absolutely. Would not miss the opportunity to see U2. I enjoy the jams and the lower card performers in small tents. I met Jason Isbell's wife Amanda last year and her show was my favorite of the festival. Look me up. I usually spend the day on the boat and in the lake chilling. Don't go in until it cools off a little. I did endure the heat for Chris Stapleton and Jason Isbell last year. I think Michael Kiwanuka is the performer I most want to see this year (Saturday 6:45-7:45 This Tent). I'll catch Margo Price and then stay over for Umphreys McGee.
For sure. U2 is gonna be one hell of an experience. I know the lineup doesn't stack up to pre-2015 years but if I lived as close as you do, it'd still be a no brainer for me.
I filled out the survey. My "favorite thing"....Inforoo pre-party and yes that is what I put down. Then I continued to give them my needs improvement and awesomes.
Needs improvement - 1) finish the sidewalk down second avenue from HWY 59 on the west side to Island Winds where you can catch another sidewalk. Major hazard with people walking from west to east or vice versa after Beach Blvd is closed. 2) VIP. Offer a $300-500 Hangout restaurant credit so a man can get a real drink, and real food. Overall, the VIP food and drink made some happy and some not. A bowl of green cut up zucchini is not finger foods...see hot wings, pizza, BBQ sliders, and shrimp. Krispy Kreme doughnuts does not equal a healthy breakfast. Cereal with almond milk would have been healthy. Clearly mark the VIP entrance...it was not. Need more VIP restrooms at the Surf Stage in a bad way. Do something with the video camera boom that constantly blocks the VIP view of the stage. 3) Fix or use properly the public address system. Closing the VIP due to storms and not telling anyone else was baaaad. Ditto just pulling the plug on random performances at random times. Give clear and concise directions on evacuations, especially for folks staying at campgrounds, using shuttles, or in day parking lots.
Awesome - Friendly staff in VIP, Mumford and Sons, Weezer, The Head and the Heart, Band of Horses, Jimmy Lumpkin, Joseph, Mutemath, Franz Ferdinand, Joshua James, Strumbellas, my condo, our Pre-Party at the pool, The Hangout Restaurant (chicken nachos, fish tacos, burgers, po-boys, oysters on the half shell, waitresses, Miller Lite, and Fireball shots), "Smooch with a Pooch" booth, reasonable security searches at gates, most of the attendees, T-shirt designs this year, the total beach vibe and friendly atmosphere.
Did I see something about loyalty tickets? I was pressing the next key and saw that at about the same time. What did it say?
