What are the terrible things that could happen headliner wise?
21 Pilots? Mumford? Kings of Leon?
Positive electronic talk: They cannot book a shittier electronic act than The Chainsmokers, but I'm sure we'll have some stupid shit. I'm not naive enough to expect any really rad techno or house, but Claude VonStroke/Barclay Crenshaw is a reasonable guess. As we have discussed another hard dubstep artist a la Excision would be fun, so Datsik I suppose. Getting further out on the not likely branch but Above & Beyond or even AvB would be fun.
Why the hate for Mumford? They write really well thought out songs and are very talented musicians
While obviously just opinion, I think many would disagree with you on that point. I enjoyed their Boston Calling show, but I couldn't help laughing a bit at some of the songs. Also they had some pretty cheesy video effects and a dumb stage set. They do give it their all though, and it was fun watching how many people in the crowd were really into it, even towards the very back, where there was some Grateful Dead-style dancing going on. At their worst I find them simply inoffensive, not bad.

I know flames are coming my way. Your disdain for 21P and Mumford is how I feel about 99% of every EDM artist I've ever heard, so to each their own...
No hate, I probably shouldn't have lumped them in with 21p and KoL. They just aren't my bag and there are headliners I would rather have.
Mumford is a snooze fest version of The Avett Brothers.
Maybe 4+ years ago. At this point I might give the edge to Mumford only because of how tragically boring the Avetts have become.
And really their shows aren't all that similar these days. Mumford are an arena rock band, they just happen to play folky instruments on most of their songs.

I'll buy that. I haven't given them a chance in about 4 years.
I think Mumford is a solid band but feel like they don't quite fit the VooDoo mold.
Saw them at Hangout Fest and Last year in Nola at their own concert and both times were very different and great imo but have to agree don't seem to fit Voodoo to me either.

Agreed, particularly for a headliner. Voodoo will book "indie" acts from time to time, but with the recent exceptions of Arcade Fire and Florence and the Machine, they tend to be more rock oriented. You'd have to go back to 2008 with R.E.M. to find anything sort of similar besides AF & FATM. Would C3 take that chance? Possibly. Will they? ?
Just for fun, how badass minus Kiss must 2009 have been. Hahaha.

2009 was a fantastic Voodoo - and I don't agree about KISS at all - it went Gogol Bordello-Wolfmother-Jane's-KISS on Halloween. That was a great day at ANY festival.
Yeah, all four of those bands are played out to some degree... but all put on a great show that day.
And Fischerspooner was maybe the best set that weekend.

Here's something that doesn't happen everyday. Linked you'll find my predictions for Voodoo Fest. What's interesting is that i got an email from my editor. Apparently the organizers of Voodoo saw this article and LOVED it. They said it was a very interesting perspective. I think a lot of these might be on the bill. Enjoy!

Hey everyone i'm the author of the predictions list Careen posted. i just got an email from my editor that basically said "Voodoo contacted the magazine and they loved the article." I'm thinking most of these are spot on, so let's hope!!
Maybe so, but it could be you didn't guess any right, so they are happy about that. Haha. I think you're mostly right and I think alt-J is almost a lock too.
Alt J is out. i had them on my list but tour dates don't match up. And yes, I could be totally off, but i guess we'll see Tuesday!
Right on. I see they added those Canadian dates. Last I checked they hadn't released those dates. I was thinking Afghan Whigs as well based on their tour ending 10/26 in Houston and the ties to NOLA. Thanks.

Yeah i was bummed when i saw, but it is what it is. On the Afghan tip, i have no idea, but they crossed my mind when making the list. i had a limit of ten but my list was maybe 10-15 other bands that seem plausible.

As I have told esteban in the past. I am friend's with the former guitarist for Afghan Whigs who is unable to remain with the band for health reasons, I believe that they will not be playing Voodoo. If anything, they might play another benefit once they finish touring, but it was very hard on members of the band to tour without him and for him to have to teach someone else his parts.
Run the Jewels is coming on live stream Primavera in a few. Lmao at Demarco taking off his clothes and lighting a cig on stage. Haha. He just went speedo. Hahahahaha. And the drummer is naked. Lmmfao. He just gave himself a trim on his legs and armpits with his lighter. Wtff?!? -------- I'm the shit. Looking at the money like it's kind to get hey hey.
Also, I gotta switch to Tycho, but I like Black Angels. They are in that dark bluesy psychedelic area where All Them Witches are. I'd see them easy at Voodoo if they play.
If he or she is correct, RL is cool and Francis is decent. I don't care at all about Galantis, Marshmello or Yellowclaw. I've seen Illenium and would see some of him again without a conflict, but it's indifferent to me. I don't know Dvbbs, but just by the name alone, it's probably at least somewhat lame (yeah, I'm judging a book by its cover there).
Some people think the Foo Fighters will be back. They played last in 2014, so it would be a little soon. But it's not like that's a bogus headliner, so I'm fine with it. I missed most of their set at Hangout 15, which was the last time I crossed paths with them. But I've seen them in the early 2000's, at Deluna 2012 and Voodoo 2014.
Wants: Prophets of Rage, M83, Kendrick, some hard rock/metal *edit* and Hundred Waters. I think we get NiN and hope to see Queens of the Stone Age up at 4 or 5 along with Run the Jewels and Pretty Lights. In Landon's article, he's guessing at Justice (only set I liked at Ultra, and I hope they do something with them at Day for Night as well. I enjoyed Black Angels on Primavera Sound live stream, so I'd be fine with them too.

Ha, just listened to Dvbbs for the first time, your judgment is correct. Weak pop music.
I'd be interested in RL Grime, I was excited to see him at Bonnaroo last year but missed him for some other act. I'm not really into trap because so much of it is junk these days, but RL Grime seems to approach the music with a strange seriousness. He's got some good songs.
Not a big Dillon Francis fan but at least he's a goofball, I imagine he would put on a big dumb fun set.
Galantis, Marshmello, Illenium are all garbage. I haven't listened to Yellowclaw but I'm assuming he's garbage. But I'll listen.
That goddamn Le Plur at Voodoo is a great stage. Loud as hell, bright as hell, big ole' field with great sound no matter where you are standing. It'd be a shame to go to Voodoo and not catch a few acts there.

I tried to listen to yellowclaw. The first time I hear one of those cruise ship type horns in any EDM I completely write off the artist.

I just put on the first mixtape on their soundcloud page, two minutes in I hear that cruise ship horn. LOL. Yeah this is garbage, I've heard enough.
It'd be nice to get one more electronic artist I'm genuinely excited for.
