Fri Fri boned me over hard - never have seen afghan whigs or PoR - will see if I can get a aftershow ticket to PoR to remedy that
Public access TV, Chicano, Flow tribe, Marian Hill, Mondo, Ben Booker (sorry Andrew), back for LCD , Afghan Whigs, back for Kendrick - I really hate being in the back - I just don't know how early you would have to commit to a good spot for LCD>Kendrick and I feel like I need to see Afghan in NO
Sat - this is a sweet sch Black Pistol Fire, Colony House, Black Angels, Record Co/Black Pistol, Live > Brand New > Foos - good lord that is a good night of rock
Sun Strand of Oaks, Ron Gallo, Strand of Oaks, Cold War > Head and Heart > Killers.
Those fuckers need to release the code for the pre-sales. I haven't gotten the email they said would unlock the shows at 10:00am today. I emailed them, but so far, I only got an auto-reply.

If you get it - PM please - I am going with a festival pass and so probably wont be sent any codes - thanks
I made a playlist, including the songs played live most often. It only includes the acts I'm planning to see, but anyone sticking with guitars most of the weekend might enjoy it:

If I went:
Friday: Chicano Batman > Autograf > Benjamin Booker > LCD Soundsystem > The Afghan Whigs > Kendrick Lamar Saturday: The Black Angels > Rich Chigga > Whitney > Brand New > Crystal Castles or RL Grime > Foo Fighters Sunday: Strand of Oaks > Amine > The Head and the Heart > Miguel > go home
Wow, PoR @ Tips? That will be miserably packed out. Protip: At sold out shows at Tips you can always post up inside the photobooth. Just meanmug any woo-girls that try to run you out.
Oh, so guys, I just wanted to let y'all know I finally checked out Kendrick last night. I started with To Pimp A Butterfly since I like the musicians on that album.
Geeeeeezus, that album is so good. I honestly don't care for rap very much, especially current stuff, but that album blew me away. I will be d/l'ing his discography today. Hadn't liked a rap/hiphop album that much since Chronic 2001 or Dr. Octagonencologyist.
He has such a unique style but also had that early 90's Compton vibe I grew up listening to. I bet that live band show @ the Civic or wherever a couple years back for this album was badass.
So easy to hang on what he's saying compared to all this mumble BS that is popular today.
TPAB > GKMC > Untitled > Sec. 80 > DAMN.
but TPAB is nothing like the others tbh. It's really a piece of work.
Unfortunate corporate influence for sure. Despite Jive Nation, Voodoo wont suck. It's pretty much going to rule Friday and Saturday. I miss the more randomly scheduled alternative acts and more unique lineups that Rehage was famous for, but shit happens you can't control. I'll take LCD-Prophets-Kendrick and Black Angels-Brand New-RL-Foo Fighters any weekend. Already I got Tauk worked in on Wed and the preparty Prophets show on Thursday to lead in. That's B+ territory to start the party.
Went to NOLA last night for the King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard show @ OEJ. That was the most balls out raging show I've seen in NOLA in many years, I was truly impressed with the younger millennial crowd going so hard slamdancing and not being shitheads (except for that one guy that the band called out, which was awesome).
Anyways, listening to Pimp a Butterfly more on the ride home and I'm still processing it. That guy is on the next level, i don't even know what else to say. With that said, Mrs. Blotter said she is totally down for daypassing it with me for LCD and Kendrick, game on 100%!

Ha, one time when I saw the dudes on Austin they did the same thing. Whole crowd was into it with moshing/slam dancing, but one dude was just an ass hole trying to fuck people up.
In he middle of the song, Stu (vocal, lead guitar) stopped and said, said, "Hey mate, we're all trying to have a good time here!"
The crowd applauded and the guy slowly slinked away and I never saw him for the rest of the show.
That's great. This guy stayed but just chilled, and the bass player was the one that stopped it. The Melvins did basically the same thing in 2008 at OEJ but the elbow throwing 6'6'' crustpunk douche got dragged out of the crowd by a mob of people.
Thursday's Feast Under the Stars with all the celebrity chefs has sold out. I slept on that too long.
Meanwhile in exceptionally cool news, City Park is hosting Brews and Boos after Voodoo in City Park at Story Land which includes all the beer you can drink and unlimited rides on the mini coaster (Lady Bug?), bumper cars, flying horses and their other shit. It runs Friday and Saturday from 11PM to 2AM. Cost is $30.00 for beer and rides or you can go VIP for 50 which has open liquor bar. I'd probably be down for this after party except I am already on an all I can drink plan and don't expect to be extending that another 3 hours. But maybe
Does anyone have an info on how LOA VIP & Platinum VIP are selling this year? There are still a couple of LOA 3-day passes at $250 on Stubhub which seems more like a price I'd expect to see 48 hours before the festival starts, not a month before.

No idea. That looks like a panicked seller as it is almost half price off the ticketing price. There are also some SVIPs for $1,125 which is $350 under ticketed price. That sucks for me, but I paid $1,050. I'm just going to watch it closely after I get back from ACL and decide if I'm going to personally sell the 2 GA's and 1 Platinum I have or if I'm going to put them on Stubhub. It's odd because under-market usually fly off the shelves, and I even know several people who usually go to Hulaween blowing it off this year for Voodoo. It's a mystery to me. I figured 25% return on the tickets. I'll make my decision after the 9th.

Just counted 10 LOA VIP tickets priced between $229 & $249. That's not a great number, but you'll always find some people reducing their price to match the lowest number for fear of not making a sale. Frankly, the LOA VIP tickets are probably the poorest value of all three ticket streams. $249 is probably closer to its real value.
