I'm going to disagree on Prophets. I specifically felt like the Rock Am Ring set from this weekend was excellent and probably the best one I've seen yet. That's going to be a wild show, and with the new song Un*uck the World and new EP coming out, it's got to be good.
I'll agree with Postjack though. I already have my ticket for $120ish from the pre-sale. That's a bargain price for the lineup (particularly acts I like on the top few lines). I just have to decide if 6 meals and all I can drink drinks is worth the difference.
Man, Prophets of Rage are SOOOOOOOOO bad live though. Like cringe worthy.
Definitely not great, I don't know about cringeworthy though. At least the music is solid.
I have a tough time with anyone doing Rage other than Zack though. It loses so much without his voice. Prophets just feels like a bunch of middle-aged men having a fun time; there's no edge
I felt like the new video directed by Michael Moore has a major edge. It's not live, but they're going radical which I appreciate.
Obviously language is NSFW if you haven't seen it yet.

thejeremy has watched their live stream several times and said that ALL of their performances were horrible live. I am going to be checking them out at Riot Fest first, so I will let you know, but I am really worried about being disappointed.
It's very bad. I'd put it right above Banks & Steelz on the cringe scale. This is like the rap version of those shitty rock supergroups like that weird fucking band Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Johnny Depp have. The way Riot Fest programs, I don't plan on seeing them again. They'll probably be up against something prime. Unless you're a die hard fan of one of these artists, the novelty fades through one song.
LMFAO. I certainly respect your opinion either way. We're not going to agree on this one, and I'll probably be out on an island alone. But it's easily the set I'm most looking forward to. I love everyone in that band from DJ Lord up through Chuck D and Tom Morello. It might be a nostalgia thing, but Zack gave the project his blessing last year, and they're not in the middle of a feud or anything. I'd rather Rage be Rage, but that's not going to happen this year, so I'll take what I can get (even if they're 3rd row on the lineup). I also understand the irony of supporting them and a radical agenda while potentially simultaneously balling it at a rock festival with SVIP. So there's that. I'm not excited for a ton on the lineup, but I'll get every penny of my $120 ticket out of this.

I honestly think Zack listened to them in the studio and the gave them his blessing so that he could leverage how mediocre they are into a larger reunion payday for RAM.

Haha. No way. He knows and B Real knows Public Enemy was a primary and major influence on what they both were doing with Rage and Cypress Hill. Unfortunately the couple full streams that were up of Saturday's concert have been taken down. I was going to suggest skimming it here and there. The only thing I wasn't much of a fan of was Serj Tankian's vocals on the Audioave cover Cornell Tribute. But Bombtrack, Take the Power Back, Bulls on Parade, etc all sounded good to me. I'll proudly be there fist in the sky. And if it ends up sucking, I'll call it out. I'm not expecting it to, but I'm not afraid to be critical in a review.

My reviews for you all to actually skim past so you can argue if Prophets of Rage sucks or if LCD Soundsystem tanks this festival or whatever that 30 page discussion was about
Headliners 4/5 - I'd see all but DJ Snake obv. Kendrick (never seen) > LCD (seen 2x) > Foo (seen 1x) > Killers (seen 1x)
Excited: Brand New, Prophets of Rage, Afghan Wigs, Live, K.Flay, Sir Charles Bradley, Whitney, Black Angels, Vintage Trouble Chicano Batman, Mondo Cozmo, Tokimonsta, SNBRN, Pell, Black Pistol Fire, Flint Eastwood, La Femma, Ron Gallo, Bleached
Meh/Filler: Galantis, Head & Heart, Miguel, RL Grime, Cold War Kids, Crystal Castles, Andrew McMahon, Marian Hill G Jones, Record Company, Colony House, Strand of Oaks
Avoid: Dillon Francis (sounded awful @ Hangout), Post Malone, Yellow Claw, Louis the Child, Nghtmre
???: Khelani, Superduperkyle, Illenium and the rest...no reason to list.
Very top heavy with only 4 or 5 acts in the first 4 lines I'd be excited to see and handful Id check out (Cold War Kids, Crystal Castles, RL Grimes) for filler. After that there is a lot of minor shit Id be down to see.
Still well worth $140+ and will make an attempt to drive out.

I'm half joking. Just hard to listen to them when RAM is a top 5 band for me.

Yet you abbreviate them RAM instead of RATM like every other person in the world......
Can't AirB&B's cancel on u though? That was my worry. I found a hotel w 2 king beds and free cancellation like 12 blocks from the park so I booked that. $586 for 3 nights after fees. That's nothing. Hopefully it all works out.
They can but then they're liable for the shitty review you'll leave them about it.
man talk about the best fest no one will ever get to go to again.
I'm skeptical of your opinion on that because his boiler room set was pretty bad and cause Galantis..... JK, JK. I just think its cool how he picked up on the English language and american rap culture and I wanted to catch him on his first trip over here. He's new to live shows so I'm not expecting gold, just trying to get hype to a 17 year old Indonesian boy and I don't think that's too much too ask.

If it wasn't comedy and the like, it would be a super easy parody costume for Voodoo. Pink polo, Adidas fanny pack, some high dollar shoes and round lens sunglasses and some neatly pressed shorts. Hahaha. He's already a parody and ironic, so I'm not going to go there.

I actually like that idea haha. Me and a friend were talking about how it would be fun for our group to dress up as characters from films Hans Zimmer had scored for his set, and then immediately realized we weren't creative and that so many people would probably be doing that already. So I thought it would be funny to dress up as characters from movies we knew Hans didn't score and then act upset when it was done that he didn't play any songs from said films. It was a discussion we had while I was under the influence and he told me it was stupid. I never ended up bringing it up again but a week later I received a onesie of Sully from Monsters Inc. in the mail that I had ordered that night and forgotten about. Never told anyone in the group the real reason why I have that fucking thing.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong are running right through I-10 during VooDoo:
27th Friday in Austin 28th Saturday in Houston 29th - ??? 30th - ??? 31st - Tuesday in Atlanta
No NOLA Date. Has Voodoo everdone at non-fest billed after party? C3 booked Mutemath 2 years ago as a "ACL Aftershow" even though they didn't perform at all in the festival. Thatd be sweet as hell do cap a night off with them til 2am or whenever.

There are always aftershows but usually they are not Voodoo promoted aftershows. Who knows. This is not the Voodoo we grew up with.
I decided to just go ahead and get the Baller tickets. Hopefully the price goes way up and I can reduce the outlay of mine down to like $600 or $650. That would rule. The question is whether or not the price for Platinum goes up or not. GA will, and with fees, I'm already > $100 on the two of those I have. I'd like to get the full outlay down to about $600 in which case they are paying me to attend.
