23 acts announced today, had roughly 35 different acts play last year.
Even though I expect The Avett Brothers to headline one night and I'm not a huge fan of it, they released a pretty impressive list of acts today. Finally booked Moe., the bottom of the lineup looks to be very strong with acts like Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Tauk, Greensky Bluegrass, etc...and I think the Phil Lesh set with the Terrapin Family band will be one not to miss.

I would assume a Phil headlining set over The Avetts. They can't really be thinking the Avetts as a headliner for Lockn' right?

Edit: And I love the Avetts.
Avetts held the #2 spot on the Shaky Knees lineup in 2015 and headlined on Saturday night. MJJ held the #2 spot on the Shaky Knees lineup in 2016 and headlined on Saturday night.
They have also already sold out a two-night run in Richmond for March.

Shaky Knees is a different beast than Lockn. Wilco was #3 that year at Shaky Knees and they played third and fourth from the closer slot on their nights at Lockn.

That's true, although it's worth noting that Wilco still didn't headline a particular day even with being the #3 in 2015.
Avetts will be top 3 on whatever day, maybe top. Doesn't matter to me at all. I've been discussing options and logistics with the peeps since last night...it's not a bargain fest! Has anyone on here stayed at Wintergreen?...camping in August worries me. I know it was hot there last year.

Never stayed at Wintergreen but would love to if it wasn't too expensive. Or any hotel, really. I love the idea of having a place to chill in the fields but...it has always been hot at this fest whether it was August or September.
Early bird tickets end tonight. I would think we're not too far away from another round of lineup announcements.
I wonder if they have thought about Sturgill Simpson as far as a pre-headliner. He's pretty popular in VA, sold out multiple shows in Charlottesville and played Farm Aid in Bristow last year. Seems like Phish could be possible for a return. Playing in NYC during August, and I think there is still another headliner to be announced.

I wonder if Sturgill is even interested in festivals. You gotta imagine he's getting offers but he pretty actively avoided 'em on his last tour. Which is weird, because while watching his (fantastic) show last year, all I could think was "man, this would KILL at a festival."
