I feel like I'm gonna be super judged for this LOL but I'm listening to Umphrey's McGee for the first time ever and I'm actually super duper into this. Didn't think it would be up my alley.

They're really good and put on a fun show. They've had some great festival sets at Bonnaroo in the past.

That's great man, they are one of my favorite live acts. They get the jamband label thrown on them, but they are really more improvisational prog with a metal attitude. I try to catch them live at least a couple times a year.

Oh shut up. "Improvisational prog with a metal attitude" = jamband.

They're one of the bright spots on the lineup....first time I saw them was the 2012 LN show that ended up pretty much being a sunrise set. Been a fan ever since.

I'm also liking Portugal the Man & Cold War Kids moreso than I previously thought I did, although I have listened to them both before just not too extensively. The lineup is starting to look a little brighter, even though it's not at all what I was anticipating 🤔

To my knowledge, umphreys doesn't have a song with an anthropomorphic animal as it's singular focus, ergo, they cannot be a jamband.

we're already reaching the fifth stage, acceptance.

Sounds to me like stage 3....bargaining. Acceptance would be accepting that this lineup is not good and that you can see PTM and Cold War Kids everywhere.

Oh, I've already accepted that the lineup is a mess haha! I still don't think I'm attending, as my crew really doesn't wanna go and I'm not about to make this trip alone because, that sounds.. terrible. But, I tend to use music fest lineups to look up or revisit artists.

Portugal the man puts on an amazing live show. I've heard the same about cold war kids, but have never seen them.
Cold War Kids somehow put on a more meh show than their music. Granted I saw them 3 times in one year (2 times in a week) but it's definitely worth skipping if you have a conflict

Yeah I left Cold War kids underwhelmed. If there is a conflict don't choose them.
How the fuck are PtM still touring with the same album?
They aren't really. It's basically just one long tour and they randomly throw out album along the way
I mean for a good 6 years they were putting out an album a year. But from 2012-now they've only put out one album. They put out a new song a couple months ago, so I'd guess they have a new record on the way. Regardless, though, when that's one of the more interesting artists on the lineup, you're in bad shape. And if they're playing Sunday rather than the obvious move to do a LN tent of PtM > Umphrey's that's even worse.
On a different note: It looks like Angelique Kidjo will be playing Talking Heads' Remain In Light so there's even more reason to see her set if you're going.

I think someone in the mock schedule thread said their bandsintown has them on Saturday.

Ahh, for some reason I read that as Sunday. That's a little better.
Last year a couple of my friends kept saying how excited they were to see Cold War Kids. I thought Cold War Kids was a cool band name so I went to check them out at Shaky Knees. I seriously regretted that decision.
I'm excited to check out Cold War Kids again. I recently dug into the undercard and found some gems. Stick Figure is a modern reggae band from Duxbury, Massachusetts who fully emrace dub. We are lucky for that. I also discovered the band COIN. Their song, "Talk Too Much", is a true original. I've never heard of these guys before, but I can't wait to get down to that one on the farm.
Also, I've narrowed it down and there are actually only four bands on this lineup worth being excited over: Klangstof, Khruangbin, Badbadnotgood, and The Lemon Twigs.
