Glass Animals at night after The XX is gonna be awesome but I know I won't see that whole set because I'm gonna leave probably halfway through for a good spot at U2.
Speaking of which, with this being my first Roo, what's the pit situation? When do you have to get in line for it? can anyone do it? If I wanted to be in there for U2 when would I have to do that?

Really depends on the act and overall attendance. U2 is a pretty tough call since a bunch of people may only be there for them. But if attendance is like last year then that probably wont matter. Any time ive wanted to guarantee my entry into the pit, I watch the show before from the left side pit line.
I can't pin down why I so intensely dislike their music. But every time I hear one of their songs I just enter a blind rage tryin' to understand why they're popular. Then I start a tailspin into why so much popular music today is just awful.
And then I have to yell at kids to get off my lawn.

You'd be surprised how many people have no idea the pit exists, or even how to get in. I'd watch The xx from stage left and decide whether or not you want to get in line. Don't be scared the line is too long, the pit holds a lot of people!

maybe i'll go for it for U2 this year since a lot of new people will be there to see them and won't know, like you said
1. Portugal. The Man 2. The xx 3. Lorde 4. CSH 5. The lemon twigs
Surprised to see U2 topping a lot of these lists given how much hate some people gave them when the lineup dropped. I'm going in only knowing the hits.

I thought they were the only thing that really got positive buzz. Some people said that they didn't like them, but even then they said it was an impressive booking and that seeing them would be a bucket list item.

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree. I'm excited to see them. If I remember there was less hate here and more on Reddit and people I talk to in real life.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone should get an award for the way they skewed the image of U2 to the under 26 crowd...yet, half of them don't realize the bands they listen to today and the arena tours they all go see were in one way influenced by U2 and the ZooTV tour, respectively.

Are you suggesting Trey and Matt are responsible for everything U2 has released since Pop?

And All That You Can't Leave Behind - Dad rock to the max, it was a course correction due to the backlash over the chances they took on Pop. Walk On and New York are great songs though.
How to Dismantle...- Safe, safe, safe! Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own might be one of the best songs Bono has written though.
No Line on the Horizon - A really strong album with the worst song U2 has ever written as the first single. Listen to Moment of Surrender and the title track, both are sonically challenging and really good!
Songs of Innocence - Another bad lead single! Couple the bad single with the overreaction to the Apple fiasco and it was a disaster. Apple pitched them, the idea and bought the album but left unscathed bc U2 was the easy target.
...nothing will match the run from Achtung Baby to Pop in terms of creativity. Theyre good for 3-4 great songs per record, they just seem to coast with mid-tempo filler the rest of the albums. The good thing is they usually are keen to which songs on each record are good and will play them live.
So you guys were the reason I heard of Vulfpeck, and they were the best show I saw last year. What are some undercard acts that I will not have heard of but will be my favorite show?

How far down you talking?
Kiwanuka, Klangstof, Ten Fe, Twiddle, Greensky, White Reaper, Turkuaz, and Khruangbin have been favorites for me
