Yeah man. I had seen it on the schedule and then I noticed it was on the live stream, and I figured it was a Talking Heads based set. Then I listened to some of it recorded, and it's pretty f'n awesome. There really isn't a reasonable conflict at Bonnaroo that Friday night except for those posting up for The xx. Otherwise, it's all pretty bleh at 7:45 outside of this set. It streams at 11PM Central on Channel 2, and I'll catch it then or on replay. This is the writeup straight off Bonnaroo's schedule. And yeah, they and all other festivals need to get back to these types of Easter Egg sets in my opinion.
Three-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo performs her interpretation of The Talking Heads' classic 1980 album, Remain in Light. Often considered the band's greatest work, Remain in Light pushed sonic boundaries, and dazzled fans with sampled and looped grooves, an innovative technique for the era. Drawing inspiration from legendary Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, the album experimented with African polyrhythms and drew lyrical inspiration from African academic literature. Certified gold in the 80s, Remain in Light continues to be recognized on best album lists of all time including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pitchfork and many other respected music publications. Angélique will record her version of the album with superstar producer Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Jay Z, Drake, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift), taking classic songs such as "Crosseyed and Painless," "Once in a Lifetime," and "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)" and reinterpreting them with electrifying rhythms, African guitars, and layered backing vocals. In 2017, Angélique will bring this musical extravaganza to concert halls and festivals across the globe including a premier performance at Carnegie Hall.
Seen two different groups of people on my social media complaining overnight/this morning about the wait times from getting in line to the campsite. It's hilarious to me that anybody who has been to Roo before would think it's a good deal to arrive between 8 - 2 on Wednesday night, which is when almost everybody going shows up. If you can't get in line on Wednesday before 7, you're best off waiting until Thursday morning. The last two times I went - showed up between 10-12 Thursday morning and waited less than 90 minutes both times to get from the line to our campground.
Anyways, hope everybody going has a blast. Look forward to reading reviews/comments come Monday/Tuesday next week.
Is it true about the ridiculous amount of law enforcement? People on reddit are saying some crazy stuff.
Yes already seen two groups get busted by cops when they were just chilling at their camp site.
That's crazy to me...Has the police presence gotten worse or is it just people doing the same bitching every year? Luckily I've never had a run in with police, quite the opposite actually. Never saw many police when I've been.

Last year we had a crazy experience happen to people that we camp with. I was worried all weekend due to the fact it happened literally 30 minutes after we finished setting up. But it was only bad on Thursday and we didn't see them any other day.
Only thing I can attribute it to is that there was a new Sheriff elected in Coffee County a couple years ago who said he's cracking the whip. Short term financial gains now in exchange for people who fucking hate you in the future. Bonnaroo should just move to somewhere cooler.
What the hell? I'm not that much into sand, but that's ridiculous. Don't they care about this fest's future? So many people will never come back if that's the case.

as a college kid who's always wanted to attend bonnaroo after seeing the 2014 lineup (one of the most catered lineups to my taste ive ever seen), you're all really discouraging me from ever making the trip and its making me really sad.

Yeah this was the first time I've ever seen that happen and it happened twice before Thursday. I'm hoping it's not as bad as it gets further into the weekend. I also was kidding about Bonnaroo sucking. I'm having a great time

Lol I figured you were joking. I can't really see how anybody can have a bad time there, unless you're arrested of course...
