I wouldn't get my hopes up. He has a show in Atlanta the next night. That doesn't exactly rule him out but makes it less likely. I don't think he's associated with anyone on the superjam lineup either so I would personally bet on it not happening.
If Umphrey's lead this superjam in any capacity it would actually give some explanation as to why they were scheduled on Sunday. But no it was just Bonnaroo being dumb.

The Soul Shakedown Superjam may not be an original idea, but it has the potential to be a lot of fun. GPJ is an angel with a bass guitar, and Pres Hall have a strong understanding of Bonnaroo and good music, not to mention they know a lot of musicians. It's never a good idea to get one's hopes up regarding big name guests, but there could be a fun surprise or two.
I'm trying to come up with ways this could be a bad set, and I don't think it can be. It may not be mind blowing or life changing, but it's going to be a good time. I'd definitely be there if I was going to Bonnaroo this year.

Pres Hall Superjam with Jim James a few years ago remains one of my all time favorites. This seems like a continuation of that. Can't see it being anything less than great.

That had much more of a star-studded cast (Jim James, John Oates, Brittany Howard, Larry Graham, plus guest spots from R. Kelly and Billy Idol).
This year's Superjam has great musicians playing what is sure-to-be a feel-good, groove-friendly setlist. What's not to like?! Perfect late-night Bonnaroo entertainment.
Some of you guys act like Bonnaroo owes you something. It's weird.
You're right. We're supposed to give them tons of money and get nothing in return.
I went to Roo in 2005 and 2016 with many years in between. Every year I had a different experience, but every year was a blast for their own reasons. You're not supposed to go. You choose to go. No one makes you spend a ton of money. Expecting Roo to consistently fulfill every wishlist you come up with every year is not only unrealistic but continues to set a bar of expectations for the festival that it could never actually reach.

When it was announced it was only billed as Jim James, John Oates, Modeliste, and Pres Hall. Maybe this one will have more guests too. But either way Jon Batiste is crazy talented. I think it'll be really cool.
Kinda crazy how the times have changed. Launchpad will defend literally anything Live Nation at this point.
Last year I thought the lineup sucked and made threads mocking that they booked both J Cole and Macklemore. Earlier this year I went on a rant about how Lollapalooza (the biggest LiveNation festival) kind of sucks and Osheaga is way better.

Again, most of us are just looking to have Roo put out the great lineups they were known for putting out for years. Between the dip in attendance numbers and the apathy from the majority of users on a Bonnaroo-centric forum, it's clear the recent lineups haven't enticed people to attend.

I want to say they eventually announced more artists before the show, but I could be wrong. Regardless, it's clear Paul Peck was the reason the Superjams turned out so well, and I don't think C3 is coming close to matching him.

That's great for you. I went to 9 roos between 05-16. I can complain all I want about it not being up to my expectations.

I didn't go last year, but I thought the Superjam in 2015 turned out really well and I don't think Paul put that one together.

I don't think anyone on this board does this. I think the majority of us would like Bonnaroo to live up to the standards it's set in the past. Every year we get less and less to be excited about. I would just like to see Bonnaroo not continue on this downward spiral. But hey that's probably an unrealistic expectation.

Pretty sure he helped with that SJ. I went to that after D'Angelo and thought it paled in comparison.

I'm thinking I don't understand what the consensus people even want here.
Seems like a bunch of people want the old jam type roos, but DEFINITELY NOT WSP (people bring up the glory years of roo, where these dudes were billed over Ye), maybe more folksy/bluegrassy, better edm/no edm, some people want bigger headliners but also not people that are too into the pop side of things (unless you are the possibly first ever pop star, Macca), want better rap but getting JAZZED for Chance, me personally I'd love to see some of the metal acts the past got but I don't see anyone being like "remember the good old days of Opeth and Meshuggah" outside a few people, I keep hearing about the Nick Cave empty audience yet now its "THERE ARE BARELY NO CONFLICTS", whats the point of spending Nick Cave money if he's going to get a "my cousin Nicks band" sized audience?
I think if anyone in charge of booking a festival looked through this board they would probably just be like what do these people want...

It was pretty obvious what we wanted and they gave it to us pretty much every year until last year. Sales were way down last year and not so great this year either, despite having U2. It's not really that confusing.

There are definitely some areas where I wish the festival would get back to its roots. I completely agree. Personally, however, Pearl Jam last year with LCD and U2 with Chance this year is about as good as it can get with me for realistic headliners.
