Prince played instruments with the best of them, Bruno.... Not so much.
If anything he's trying to be like Prince
I'm just recalling an article I read about Prince and his distaste for hip hop, and the shit he took when he transitioned from funk to pop.. and some rapper, I forget who, was in on a session for the symbol album and came out saying "holy shit, Prince can rap"
I wouldn't at all be surprised, he was a virtuoso at everything.

I was devastated... Luckily Brooklyn picked up the slack and every single bar I went into that night was only playing Prince/Prince related music.
I truly don't see how you can shit talk Bruno Mars then get all giddy when Jungle is a Roo clue
Jungle has good songs though
24k Magic is a full album of great Modern Funk / Soul songs. Their music seems to be very similar except for the fact that Brunos is a bit more pop influenced.

I agree for the most part, but Versace is a pretty terrible song...

But there are good and bad things within genres.
That's like saying you should like Andy Grammer because you like Bon Iver. Both white dudes who play guitars.

I do prefer Straight Up and Down as a ballad but yeah Versace on the Floor is a pretty nondescript song.

Well not only is your example terrible, but I wouldn't even say Brunos music is that much worse than Jungles.
I mean Bruno has a much more interesting voice than Jungle, and his hooks are equally as catchy.
It’s just because Bruno Mars is pop music and Jungle isn’t. Pop musicians never get as much love on here. Unless they’re Taylor Swift, who is fucking terrible. The tides are even beginning to turn on JT around here with his latest single, and he used to be pretty much loved all round on here as well.

To me, Bruno is least common denominator funk. It takes no chances lyrically or sonically, and generally is straight up ripping off Morris Day, EWF, New Edition, Bel Biv Devoe, Prince, etc. While he's moved more into a "sound", it hasn't improved the quality of his music to me at all. Yeah, its catchy, but that's what repeating the chorus 25 times per song does for you.
Catchy and easily digestible doesn't equal good to me, its just lazy and uninspired.
With all that being said though, I do think Bruno is a great performer, but I wouldn't ever pay to see him specifically.

Come at me.
Timberlake IS bad, so idk what the concern is there. Bruno Mars >>>> Timberlake
