You know who has a lot of money? Jay Z. Also Emoney is my dad's nickname. You know who recently became a father? Jay Z
Pepe Silvia the name keeps coming up over and over again. Every day Pepe's mail is getting sent back to me. Pepe Silvia! Pepe Silvia!

I love the theory that Charlie is actually just receiving mail addressed to Pennsylvania, but due to his illiteracy the legend of Pepe Silvia was born.

To add to the "Live Nation Ruins Everything" theme of this thread, apparently Gary Richards, the founder of HARD (the company that started HARD Summer, Holy Ship, etc.) is being pushed out of the company. Holy Ship will have the likes of Datsik and Borgore headline next year.

Fleetwood, Tool, and Future would be cool, if Future is any good live. I wouldn't know, because I skipped him at ACL for I think UMO, but I haven't heard awesome things. I also think we can stop putting Tool in these mocks.
I don't think they'd book Calvin Harris, tbh. I saw him at FPSF one year cuz my phone died and I didn't want to lose track of the people I was with. I was pleasantly surprised by his show. But yeah, he's a pretty weak headliner for Bonnaroo. He works ok headlining Coachella where there's such a massive EDM crowd, but even that was kinda weird.
That second line does pretty much nothing for me. I'm sure the National are good, but I've just never cared.

With a top line of Fleetwood Mac - Jay Z - Jack White they'd have to reeeaaaaallllyyy fuck up the undercard for me or my group to not want to go (please don't take that as a challenge, LiveNation)

I'm thinking that's my ideal trio right now. Roger Waters replacing Fleetwood Mac would be a sexy alternative too.
I can also see Drake making a push next summer to be headlining the big boy festivals.

I think Bonnaroo is going for a massive EDM crowd. The Other Stage ended up being pretty popular this year. We did also have DeadMau5 as a "headliner" two years ago...even though he wasn't really scheduled like one.

Yeah, and the Deadmau5 thing wasn't super well-received. I pitted that because I'm a pretty big fan of his, but a lot of people bitched about it on the boards afterwards and supposedly it wasn't well-attended. The Other Stage can be a hit, but that doesn't mean they're going to put Calvin Harris on the top line. I don't think they really need to.
The template from this year works pretty well. They can just get the flavor-of-the-month acts, stick them on Other, and put a couple bigger acts on LN Which. Calvin Harris is not going to add to the lineup draw in a way that even The Killers or something would.
A top line with Fleetwood Mac looks great on paper, but why must we always insist on including Fleetwood Mac?
I think they're great and all, but I bet a significant % of the festival going demographic only knows 'Go Your Own Way' and 'Landslide'. Maybe 'Dreams', 'The Chain', 'Rhiannon', but I'd bet they are less recognizable than some of the more previous legacy headliners like U2, Elton, Billy, Paul, or any other one's that have been suggested like Roger or GnR.

It seems like the younger folks did FM more than U2.

are coachella and acl not considered "big boy"?
Im not suggesting his past fests werent big boys, just that timing is right for another run

Deadmau5 has to be the biggest headliner disappointment of the past 4-5 years... if not further back. Nobody was at that show...
you couldnt be more right about the current template working well
I'm sure that after spending a billion dollars to book U2, only to see them have smaller crowds than the Weeknd and RHCP, LiveNation is going to jump at the chance to book another old folks headliner.
The big difference is that Fleetwood Mac have a fairly sizable younger audience, at least in relation to U2.

Yeah where is that coming from? At least Bono is relevant, Stevie Nick's was a goat in South park at least Bono was himself.
I can only speak from personal experience, but as a certified young person I have quite a lot of friends with Rumors in their record collection and very few, if any, with The Joshua Tree. Even if that's anecdotal, I think it speaks to how those two bands are perceived by the under-30 crowd. U2 might be more recognizable and relevant but it doesn't mean they're liked

The thing is, by the definition of a Bonnaroo headliner, it's pretty iffy that Deadmau5 was one. He was billed third, that is true, but Deadmau5 played a late night slot where the entirety of his set was opposed. Kendrick was the one playing when we typically expect the headliner to play, and at least part of his set was unopposed.
RTJ and EWF (with Chance and Kendrick at the end) ran into Deadmau5, Fly Lo conflicted directly with him, and Odesza and STS9 started a half-hour before he was scheduled to finish. There's really nothing surprising about his set having low attendance. All of that stuff (save Odesza) is badass, and a lot of it was EDM or at least overlapping in fanbase with Deadmau5. I'd take basically all of that stuff over anything we had LN Saturday this year or all of last year other than Tame Impala. It was an embarrassment of riches and a rough spot for Deadmau5. I was only there because I'd been a fan for five or six years and had never seen him. I bet a lot of people had.
I wouldn't expect them to do that with Calvin Harris. They've probably learned their lesson. It would be a waste of money. And I don't think they'd straight-up make Calvin Harris, or really any EDM act that isn't Daft Punk, a bona fide headliner.
