Fleetwood Mac - Drake - Foo Fighters and a far better middle of the line-up selection
I'm going to go against the grain, be an optimist, and say that after 3 consecutive weak Bonnaroo's under the Live Nation banner (at least partially in 2015) that the festival gets back on track with a stronger and generally more appealing 2018 edition.
With the festival almost completely under Live Nation's control why would you expect them to get "back on track"? Whether or not Bonnaroo can still be a financial success is yet to be seen, but I wouldn't expect to see lineups like 2009-2014 ever again.

assuming they sell out this year, they'll continue the formula of Wild Exclusive Get - Band everyone is familiar with - On The Rise Pop/Hip Hop with a blegh undercard.

Do you really think there's a chance they'll sell out this year? Like if you really want to see RHCP, The Weeknd, or Chance the Rapper there's a good chance they're already playing somewhere closer and more convenient for you. The undercard doesn't have any acts that you can't see at every other regional festival either.

i do, it'll take a while but with U2 they'll get there.

I heard a while back that 70k was their goal. I have since heard they are doing much better than last year, but not looking like theyll hit that number. It doesnt seem like anyone is too upset with where theyll land though.

Booking U2 is pretty big. But there's nothing on the lineup to compliment that sort of booking. When they got Paul McCartney in 2013 they also had Tom Petty, ZZ Top, and Billy Idol to go along with it. There's nothing like that this year. I still expect U2 to pull in a lot of people, but when there aren't any diverse or unique acts on the rest of the lineup I don't think it'll be enough to sell out.
we just gotta accept that beck is never playing again
Oh come on, sure he will!
edit: I mean there's a chance!
edit: Maybe.. But maybe not.
edit: Yeah.. No.
Beck has put out two singles in the past 8 months and still no talk on the album, it keeps getting pushed back. I don't quite understand what is going on with him lately, Dreams and Wow were both radio hits and no album or live shows in support.
The Who - Drake - Gorillaz - Alt-J So basically Ourside Lands with Drake instead of Metallica cause ya know.. Bonnaroo By the way should it be like that^^ or Drake - The Who - Gorillaz - AltJ
I feel like given the extensiveness of the NA tour this year, next year will be mostly international. If not, then I'm sure Roo is still gunning for him.

Yup, this is how I feel. Although you could go further back with the line-up. I truly believe the golden years of Bonnaroo have passed us by. At least I was there fer the greatness that happened.
