I can't see U2 taking the stage at 11 pm. Pearl Jam was scheduled at 10 last year. I think U2 will happen 10 to 12- allowing them to end when they want. Not a big deal but they aren't starting at 11.
1. Portugal v Francis v Big G makes me want to cry. 2. JVM v Car Seat v C Vonstroke blows balls 3. Chance the Rapper v Michael kiwanuka- two of my top 5 at the same time is brutal.
Seeing this mock is mostly depressing. Most years 1 or 2 conflicts doesn't hurt the bottomline, but this year it really hurts. Having only like 25 acts I wanna see limits my tolerance for conflicts.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest

Thursday is very sparse...Friday is ok but the Nightmare/XX clash and the Major Lazer/PTM/BG clash both suck...Sat is just ok...Sunday not filled with stuff I want to see but they conflict.
Also, I doubt Tegan and Sara open the What Stage that early...they would be later on either what or which I think.

I genuinely don't understand how people make DJ sets a priority
Like I love a lot of electronic music but I would never go to a plain old DJ set over a live band assuming I liked both artists
I get that there's more to it than just pressing play (for many of them) (and also not really talking about Big G here since they have the live element) but at the end of the day you are just standing and listening to prerecorded music. I'm stoked for stuff like Rezz and Claude VonStroke but if they conflict with a band I like even a little bit I'd miss their sets for that

I skipped (I think) Belle and Sebastian for Jamie xx in 2015. Tough, but I'm fine with it. I'd skip a lot of stuff to see Claude Von Stroke this year, or at least I'd skip parts of some sets to see him.
I'm in the process of making a mock schedule but it's pretty hard. Probs to you guys who do this all the time. Also mine is probably shit.
I usually give up by the time I get to the really small bands. I can do headliners, pre-headliners, and late nights...but figuring out daytime shows is just torture. I also don't feel like researching 80 of the artists I'm not really familiar with on the lineup.
I just noticed the shuttle return times say 3 am. I'm guessing that's how long the late nights will go to this year. RIP sunrise sets...not that there was anyone on the lineup that could do that anyways (besides Umphrey's who won't even be getting a late night slot).

That last mock is about the worst case scenario for me.
Conflict of Car Seat Headrest / Klangstof / A Kidjo / Kevin Morby / Pres Hall
Great work with that. Seems like something Roo would do to me. Could not have dreamed up a worse scenario unless you replace pres hall with Khraungbin or something like that.

DJ sets can be good or bad. Bands can be good or bad. Both can be exciting or boring. I'd see D'Angelo & The Vanguard, Grizzly Bear or Vampire Weekend over say Skrillex, Claude VonStroke or Adam Beyer, but I'd see Ben UFO, Robert Hood or Leon Vynehall over Grouplove, RHCP or Bastille.

Surprised this even needed to be said.
If all one saw were EDM DJs who clearly fake what they're doing on a mixer, then I'd get it. But there's a lot of magic to DJing, often times more exhilarating than watching a band go through the motions and play muddling tunes.
Updated my mock! This looks to be my best case scenario for 2017.
Jesus, that pre-U2 conflict looks terrible. Overall I think this looks really good. I'm not so sure Gallant gets a late night set though. I could easily see NGHTMRE and him switching spots.

I prefer live band to DJ...if I like them both equally I would choose the live band. If it were XX from a few years ago I would definitely go to them over Nghtmre but I don't like their last album much, and have never seen Nghtmre. I would probably bounce between BG and PTM since I will have seen ML at Hangout just a couple of weeks prior. And say what you will about live vs DJ, BG live is the bomb (and PTM is too but I have seen them a couple of times recently and have only seen about half a set of BG at 2012 Roo)

Oh yeah, that's why i said "assuming I like both artists"
I've def seen good DJ sets--Rustie, Cashmere Cat, Jamie XX, even Skrillex come to mind--but faced with seeing a DJ whose music I like play stuff through a laptop (or records) vs. a band whose music I like playing live, the band will win every time.
For electronic acts that actually put on a live show, it's a different story. Disclosure, Odesza, Big G, etc are great live
I'm not going to Bonnaroo this year, but I did a mock anyway. Disregard the bold, as that's just who I'd likely see if I was there. Hope to catch a few of them on the live stream.
