Save your money and wait for that sweet FYF lineup to be released.
Been to FYF 3 times and live 15 minutes from the site.
Everyone thinks it looks awesome due to the lineup until you get there and realize its in a fucking parking lot outside of a stadium. One of the worst festival sites I've ever been to. The lineup is always incredible but the actual experience is garbage. I love great lineups, but if the site and experience sucks then just having Nicolaas Jaar, TV on the Radio, Kendrick Lamar, and Tame Impala, etc on your lineup doesn't exactly make it an awesome festival. Its still just a bunch of awesome acts in a parking lot.
Yeah. If you choose to travel across the country to watch Post Malone and Walk the Moon because you prefer the butthole that is June in Manchester, Tennessee, that's on you, bro.

Going again in VIP. It's a great time and the lineup does not bother me at all. More acts I want to see than I will. Found a bunch of smaller new. U2 will be a blast...and so will everything else.

Don't you know we're supposed to hate Bonnaroo this year and ignore the shortcomings of every other festival! I don't know about you but I can't wait to see Solange perform in a parking lot in beautiful Inglewood on a gravel parking lot. Didn't you know vibeszzzz don't matter!
FWIW, Shaky Knees does have plenty of late night aftershows.
Yeah, but you have to pay extra to get in to those. My lady and I enjoyed Shaky Knees last year...but not like we've enjoyed 'Roo. Just seriously what happened to their ability to book? Seriously LiveNation, you print your own money basically with your business model so do you just hate the money you invested in this festival? I just don't understand.
Hangout - far drive from Asheville, but beach and decent lineup.
Shaky - My favorite lineup of the 3, but mediocre vibes - no late sets and very domesticated.
I'm torn to say the least and still pissed I moved to Asheville just as Moog, Mountain Oasis, Bellechere all said to fack off - Ashley!!
The "vibes" at Shaky Knees are fine. Most people are very cool and easy to make friends with. Like sure people aren't giving out high fives and passing joints around like at Bonnaroo. But if Shaky Knees is your favorite lineup then I'd recommend that. Honestly, the things that made Bonnaroo special like longer set times and unique late night sets are pretty much gone anyways.

Not going for the second year in a row because the lineup isn't good enough to get us to spend the money/make the trek/deal with the weather...and we get free tickets.
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be revisiting the farm again, unless I see a change of direction.
Seein' this from yet another veteran of previous 'Roos, I "like," but actually dislike this post.
My girlfriend's still on the fence and I think leanin' towards no...so I'm just startin' to brace my feels that I possibly won't be on The Farm this summer fer the first time in 10 years.
This. I don't see myself ever attending Roo again in the future if they keep the ship sailing the way it is.
Same.
I knew when I left last year it would likely be the last time I was there. The writing was on the wall.
I wasn't even planning on going last year until Levitation crushed my soul with its cancellation and Abra graciously hooked me up with a cheap ticket.
Glad I ended up making last year though, was a good sendoff for the Bonnaroo I used to know and love. Even got to add a few new friends because of it.
I got similar feelings. I happened to look on the group picture that was taken last year at Dead and Co. I am pretty ok with that being the last Bonnaroo picture if that is the way it ends up being.
I don't think I've ended up the past two years "end of 'roo" group pics.
I was at GoT instead of Billy Joel, and bailed in between sets 1 and 2 at Dead & Co.
Next year! Oh, wait...
We missed the Billy Joel one in 2015 because we just couldn't deal with getting up and finding everyone. It was the lady friend's first Bonnaroo and her feet were very, very angry with her at that point.
The only "silver linin'" I can work up to missin' 'Roo this year is I've told my wonderful woman that I'd like to do Mike D's pool party with some time in Nashville instead.
AND (super excitin') I might get to see Rammstein in NYC (and visit my sister) as a b-day present.
The big bad run though is all of these things are extremely close together and thus could complicate travel plans.

I'll be there considering it's not too far and my friends and I dig the line-up. I'll also probably make my way into the group pic too since I'll be at RHCP.

Wouldn't the group pic be on Sunday?
Fuck I keep forgetting about that awful scheduling. I'll be at The Weeknd as well. Maybe too up close to make the picture tho.

This would be my 11th. But it's too far to go for a lineup that doesn't excite me and so many of my favorite Roo friends have dropped out. It's possible (shudder) that my Roo career is over. I feel horrible for you all because, in my personal experience, Bonnaroos I attend are more fun than those I don't.
Going to Bonnaroo this year for a few reasons 1. A few friends impulse bought tickets long ago 2. The past three years were so great all around I felt I had to give it atleast one last shot. I've had a great time regardless of how many bands I knew on the lineup 3. Everytime I've wanted to see Chance something has prevented that from happening. (Saw Skrillex instead at Bonnaroo '14, missed him in the superjams, we were one of the people that had to leave the silent disco before the Coloring Book listening party, Family Matters tour sold out before I could get tickets) 4. Distance, only a four hour drive. 5. And probably the biggest reason for me is because its my birthday weekend (Saturday the 10th).
If I wasn't going to Bonnaroo I would be doing Okee and Hulaween this year.
Top acts for this year Thursday: G jones Hippo Campus Twiddle
Friday: The xx Big G Glass Animals Claude VonStroke/Barclay Crenshaw Ganja White Night
2. The past three years were so great all around I felt I had to give it atleast one last shot. I've had a great time regardless of how many bands I knew on the lineup
This was me last year, that and I was excited about all three headliners. And there were certainly acts on the undercard I was excited about, but I think more than anything it was inertia and, as you stated, lets give this thing one last shot.
This year if I was going I'd be excited to catch:
The Weeknd Chance The XX Umphrey's Claude VonStroke/Barclay Crenshaw BBNG
The above is definitely skewed low because I've done zero research into the lineup because I know I'm not going. I'm sure if I dug in I'd find some more acts to be excited about, but having said that the above is still a sad little list. I think I'm fairly knowledgeable about music and feel I should recognize more acts on a high attendance multigenre festival lineup before having to do homework.
Also I'm just talkin', I don't want to shit on anybody's Bonnaroo just because I'm not going. I hope every inforoo'er who goes had a blast. I hope all the newbies who go have a blast and a positive transformative experience, as so many of us did at our early Bonnaroos. Furthermore, I'd be thrilled if Bonnaroo 2018 produced a lineup I cared enough about to bring me back, but my hopes are not high.

Oh my stars no!! There are always great undercards to find. I saw over 20 plus bands last year and have as many this year! But I spend alot of timing listening to the lower end of the line up s o ican make the most of my time there. I'm thinking I will fly into ATL and then ride in from there. For me there is always music I like, don't like, don't know, learn to like. It's the whole experience. Sunflower Bean last year was a great discovery for me! And now they are opening for the Pixies. Anyways - would be sad to not have you there given you are SO close!

Well, my wonderful better half told me she has put in fer vacation time, so now it might depend on my job situation. I'm actively lookin' fer a new and better job. She also just got a street team poster route that will give her enough points so that we will both have free tickets.
I'm still just not very excited 'bout the lineup though.
