Pruitt gonna pull double duty between UT and Bama through the playoff. I’m officially a Clemson fan for New Year’s Day only.
The only hangup I see in that is I don't want to hear people instantly say they screwed up hiring him if Clemson puts 40 on them during the game. I am on board for a good old fashioned 9-6 loss though.
Reports are the race is on for assistants. @hljott may know better than me, but some reports say Pruitt is trying to convince Sherrer to be his DC at the same time Saban is thinking about promoting him to be DC at Bama.

Feldman just reported that, as well as possibly Tyson Helton from USC as OC (though, I'm guessing his brother is his boss; would he leave family?). How are the locals handling the news?

Anybody from Alabama is going to be looked at in a positive light because of the last ten years. Couple that with how bleak expectations were, and people are gonna be happy. Some people are upset Tee couldn't be involved in some regard, but they get it.
All things considered I think this is a good hire. It remains to be seen whether he can make the transition from coordinator to HC, but boosters, for now at least, can point to Kirby Smart as the model.
I don't think it's a great move. You don't beat Bama by playing like Bama. They're probably think they can do what Uga is doing but that's going to be hard with Bama and UGa already doing it. After all that they went through this is the guy they ended up with? Maybe one day they'll finally get a big time proven coach to come to Knoxville.
My real hot take, Taggart at FSU is Charlie Strong at Texas pt. 2.

Wow I wanted to address your "hot taeks" in paragraph one but I can't get past your scorching hot taek in paragraph two. C'mon Sang:

I can see what you're saying about Taggart. I would be hesitant to predict big things from FSU the next couple years.
Just because it worked for us, doesn't mean it can work for everyone. I think wanting to be Bama is going to backfire on them.
I am still not sure how Tennessee is wanting to be Bama aside from hiring one of their assistants. Bama isn't Bama because they hired an assistant. They took a proven coach who was back on the market and tossed a huge bag of money at his doorstep. If anyone is doing that, it's UCLA.

I mean every asst that comes from Bama tries to win playing the way Bama plays. How many have been successful? Kirby this year. Who else? You don't beat them by playing the way that they play.

This guy did alright for himself.
This guy did not.
That guy doesn't count. He was supposed to be a hot shot offensive genius. All of the other guys are defensive guys.
So you're not helping the point that most of them have been failures. Maybe they weren't all defensive guys. None of them beat Saban when they play head to head either. I wouldn't feel good about it if it were my team doing it.
Trying very had not to fall in love with this guy. How you doin, Dave Maynar?
I feel Fulmer did pretty well considering where we were at in the search. If anything, he hired someone that the fan base can get behind which was a necessity at this point. Nobody needed another Schiano calamity. In the press conference, Pruitt came off as affable and did well talking up the organization as a whole.
For coordinators/assistants, I honestly don't know a ton about Helton or Sherrer. I do know he's been a QB coach which is something Tennessee could have used this year for sure. Sherrer was the LB coach at Georgia this year. SEC experience sells to fans. One of the Georgia people hear could shed more light on if Pruitt is messing up here. Pruitt is reportedly keeping Gillespie on staff which is the guy he should have kept if he kept anyone on the present staff. He's incredibly well liked in Knoxville and does quality work. I also heard something about him bringing Terry Fair in as the DB coach. Fans will love him bringing someone like that home. Will Friend is going to be the OL coach which is somewhat of a step down for him since he was the OC as well at Colorado State. He knows Pruitt well.

Staff is shaping up nicely. I would have rather had Tee because this would have been a final destination job for him (not so certain on that for Pruitt if he is successful). That being said, considering what transpired over the last week and a half, I am very happy with the hire.
