That was a Butch Jones special. He's an awful gameday coach. My prediction of him being fired first might be bested by Barry Odom but Jones is still going to get the boot.
My biggest gripe with him is that he keeps trying to make Dormady a read option quarterback. He's not a read option quarterback.
Dude, wtf do you remember it was like third and five and we did a play action keeper and dormady got like no yards?
We need to run Kelly et. al. Until the cows come home and pick up Wolfe for short or Callaway for long. Kelly is legit, and we have backups that are good too. Force them to stop the run, then throw over too.
I'm a drinky rambler homer, but that game shouldn't have come down to a last play TD situation.

Virginia Tech rolls and Florida beats UT. Doesn't get much better when it comes to college football for this guy.
I'm glad Clemson is going be undefeated coming into Blacksburg, practically guarantees a night game and gameday coming to town. Doesn't look like though they have took any step-back from last year. Kinda would be surprised if it's not a rematch of last year in the championship game. VT is not around that talent level yet, but I went in on a tickets awhile back.
Also, San Diego St holding up would be nice for gambling reasons.
Thought UGA had a pretty soft schedule heading into the season but going to be quite the next 3 weeks. Home game with Miss St., @ UT, @ Vandy. Think we drop one of those (completely possible to lose all 3) but if not, I'll be pretty f*cking excited with a Mizzou game we should win heading into the Swamp.

You know it's bad when they take time on Sunday NFL Countdown to rip Tennessee's defense on the final play. In short, they said the called defense was bad. The individual player's reactions were bad and spoke to poor coaching. It's gonna be a rough week for Jones.
Pretty much just paying attention to 2018 draftable QB's these days. Lamar Jackson looks overwhelmed by Clemson. Sticking with the USC/Texas game.
First overall pick ends up a Jet and with their career destroyed anyway
I don't know. There are scenarios where they end up a Bengal.
If the Colts had a better front office, they could end up with three first rounders next year and the first overall pick. Then again, of the Colts had a better front office, they wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.

Still making plans. Not sure if I'll go up Friday night or Saturday morning. Didn't make it to Gameday at Louisville, which was good because it looked like it paled big time to every Gameday Clemson has hosted (I've attended every one of them). I have a feeling VA Tech's would be much better. I'll let you know when it's all set. I am excited for my 2nd night game at Lane Stadium. Hopefully weather will be better than in 2011, although as long as the outcome is the same I'll be happy.
And thanks for the invite. Sadly I think I am going to have to pass on Arcade Fire. I have to be in ATL Friday for a meeting before heading to Nashville, so two trips in two days makes no sense. Taking the kids to TN so staying overnight Thursday won't work.

I think we are going hard and fast into a cuonzo situation where the fans just don't want him anymore and nothing he does will change their minds. Even non vol fans think Butch should be gone, and even the apologists are coming around.
Im tired of his coachspeak and our inability to be consistent, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel on him yet. If him and Larry Scott are still making bone headed play calls, or we do worse than 7-5, im not gonna bemoan starting up the search.

I am not on board with firing him right now. I agree the talk is ramping up quickly and definitely seems the strongest around town that it has been since Jones has been the coach. Tennessee has Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama coming up. That stretch will probably decide his fate one way or the other for this season. I don't think anyone is expecting a W against Alabama but getting blown out would make the fanbase murderous especially if they're 3-3 at that point.

Dan Wolken of USA Today basically said that the Tennessee program is really strong for (does math) 164.5 hours/week during the fall and 24/7 in the offseason. It's those 3.5 hours on those pesky little gamedays that Butch is really bad at. The rest of the program is reputed to be in fantastic shape.
That is the reason someone should hesitate to fire him.
I think the answer probably is if you're talking about firing your coach your coach probably should be fired. Clemson held on to Tommy Bowden longer than they should and that finally came to a head when we didn't score TD against Wake Forest and he quit. I mean, that did work out for us because he named Dabo his successor. But we could have had Dabo like a year or two earlier.
