For sure. They have had a good, eclectic mix of all kinds of genres both years. I expect the same this year. I definitely want another exclusive art installation that people have to fight for though. Bjork Digital was so freaking entertaining, and I want more (including more VR).
Seems like Nicolas Jaar is taking a break after his announced tour dates are over, wouldn't count on him being here.
It's also pretty tough to tell how they'd handle repeat artists, he wouldn't be a bad first, but if the precedent is set that theyll repeat after 2 years, that's not the best thing really.

I was hoping he'd come back to play a DJ set instead of live, I don't think repeats should be a big deal if they have the ability to play a completely different show. Either way, probably not happening now.
It shows that they were planning to throw the blind pre-sale back up on September 5th. More evidence that their plans are delayed due to Harvey. If they were planning to give time for a blind pre-sale, I assume this will push the lineup back as well. Who knows right?!
Once again reminder: 2015 lineup dropped October 8th 2016 lineup dropped September 14th

Hey all, Long time Inforoo lurker, even longer festival goer
Intrigued by Day for night, didn't even know it existed until I randomly read this thread. Looks awesome, and people seem to dig it. Do tickets for it usually sell out, having a hard time gauging how big this festival actually is. Wondering if I should roll the dice with this blind presale? Obviously getting tickets after the line up is announced is preferred if I won't have a problem doing so.
You shouldn't have any issues at all buying tickets after the lineup release. Based on the last two years it would be pretty surprising if the fest sold out at all.

Sweet thanks. From what I gather, based on the limited research i've done, this fest has a warehouse that has some 'artisty' lights set up throughout, some DJ's going on or smaller acts inside, then a big mainstage outside? Fairly accurate or am I way off.
We dig lights and thats the main draw for us, not sure if the videos i've seen kind of exaggerate the coolness a bit?
wouldn't mind hearing some folks experience with this thing, i'd be traveling from Boston for it.

Regarding the lights, the videos do exaggerate the coolness a bit. The light installations were cool, I thoroughly enjoyed them, and wish more festivals would do similar things, but they aren't a good enough reason to travel a long distance.
There were three outdoor stages: main stage, secondary stage, and a very small stage for smaller acts. Inside there was one big stage in a large warehouse room. None of the lights at the stages were noteworthy, all pretty standard for a midsize festival. The sound was generally good at all the outdoor stages, the sound at the indoor stage was (IMO) atrocious. Flabby low frequencies drowned out the other frequencies while simultaneously not providing a visceral SPL impact.
Make your decision to go based on the artists that are playing. It's a great midsize festival with historically unique bookings, but since it is a midsize festival it's not a visual extravaganza.
It'll be interesting to see what installation replaces the Bjork vr (which was pretty great). I didn't get to see the nonatek one because the line was so long so I can't speak to that, but I'd imagine they come back again.

Just to give credit where credit is due, Day For Night does have the coolest aesthetic of a festival I think I've ever seen, in terms of their website, social media presence, etc. Give me parallel white lines, shadows, and a machine-like deep humming sound and I want to buy whatever you are selling.
