So this fest is Saturday and Sunday? What is the pre-party exactly? What was the start time and end time on say Saturday? After parties etc?
Also did they sell single day passes last year?
Yes, the actual fest is Sat and Sun, with Fri being the pre-party.
I didn't go to the preparty last year, but Phyre Fest or Rummy 500 might be able to give you a better idea on that. To me, it seemed way overpriced. I want to say it was close to the price of the fest ticket itself. You basically get to check out the venue with a limited number of people on Friday, plus a bunch of shows.

Music started around 3 pm. Outdoor stages were off by midnight, while the indoor Blue Stage went to 2am on Sat, and 130 on Sun.
I don't think there were any official after parties last year, but I'm sure there were some unofficial things going on.
edit: what esteban said!
Thank you Esteban and Rothric, this is helpful. I am thinking I might just do Saturday if they sell single day passes. I gotta think if NIN plays they'd be a Saturday headliner.
bars in Houston have a pretty hard close at 2 (I've been to some places that will do cash bar type things after hours, pretty rare from my experience) so the after party part of things isn't very robust, but not having a 10-11 curfew makes up for it.

There were random unsanctioned events. I know Fat Tony did a call out to everyone to go to a Whataburger parking lot where Win Butler showed up as well as a few dozen other people to keep the party going. None of us followed him so we didn't know about it until after. I'm sure there were other cool things happening if you knew about them.

I didnt pay for the pre party so I can't give an opinion on its value, but I had a blast and it was cool getting free alcohol and seeing all of the light installations before the fest and with no crowds. And the artists were pretty great too.
Holy shit. I'm not sure if what I got was a set-up or accidental hack. I don't want to post it since I heart me some Day for Night. But if anyone wants to know what I found, and GD it's going to be good, hit me up with a PM.

Yeah, there's a lot to like on that - a lot to love really. I haven't seen Laurie Anderson since like the mid-1980's. Absolutely perfect festival for her.
