Also, I didn't find this festival crowd to be typical at all. I remember posting last year that the diversity of it was part of what made the crowd better than average. People were just being themselves - white, black, brown, young, middle age, straight, gay, guys, girls, other, etc.
Gotcha. It's possible I just wasn't paying close attention to the crowd. Often I am solo at festivals so I spend plenty of time people watching, but at D4N last year I had a bunch of friends with me. Regardless I had no issues with the crowd, people were cool.
as far as sound on blue, i attributed any issues i had with being far back since it was kind of like a long highway. we got pretty close for tycho and didn't have any issues, got a little further back for arca and i came away not being able to hear.
Thanks for sharing. I'll just have to make sure I get close for artists on the blue stage I care about.
Yeah no sweat man. It really stood out to me. I know that Houston is one of the most diverse populations in the nation and probably second to Toronto for North America. So a good chunk of the crowd had to do with that. However, by last fall they did note that 70-75% of the tickets were purchased from outside of the area. So a lot of them/us who were there representing whoever we were showed up. And it was cool because you had African-Americans, whites, Indians, Arabic peoples, Asians of many nationalities/ethnicities, lots of people from overseas with accents or who were speaking in foreign languages and such. I actually couldn't think of a festival crowd to compare it with overall. Certain shows had concentrations of segment "x" out of the crowd due to the nature of the shows. But overall it was super diverse.

I don't think any of the three we're talking about is all that much like Tycho musically, but I expect James Blake to fill a similar role to Tycho in my schedule this year.
Still so jealous of whoever saw him. He did prosthetics for the original star wars trilogy and I guess that's how he knew how to make an animatronic cum shooting penis mask!

I dunno how jealous you should be. I stumbled across them while on 4 hits of some insanely fire lucy. I was rather frightened by what I came across. The music was kinda cool to be honest but the whole setting and atmosphere I felt at that show just creeped me the fuck out. Fast forward to 3 weeks later and I'm jamming out to Icky Icky Lollipop. I would definitely see them again if given the opportunity. Probably just not out of my gourd.

Speaking of which should we still expect security and check in to be as painless as it was last year? I mean I swear they didn't even try to search me. Even the pat down was a joke. Actually wait...was there even a pat down? Or just wands?

Through like 3 different avenues. Nothing back so far. I'll definitely keep the thread in the loop if I hear about anything.

Have you tried just messaging them through Facebook? I did that for an unrelated issue the other day and got a response back a few hours later.

Wait, why am I even going to this festival again?
Because festivals fill the empty void in your soul or something?

I think we're doing this. It just happens to land on the weekend after the old lady finishes her exams, and she's more than likely going to be in school during any other fests over the summer.
Plus, helps I'm super into the lineup. I haven't seen Tyler not in OFWGKTA, and when I saw them Earl was in boarding school (by all the free Earl chants I thought he was in jail).
