I'm ready for the schedule. Please give me the schedule.
Maybe they will pull a Coachella and drop it the week of the fest.
That would be shitty. Goldenvoice has a habit of waiting until late in the game. Luckily this isn't Goldenvoice. Unluckily it's late in the game. We're 17 days from the pre-party. Delaying what should be an easy schedule to release only serves to sew doubt and speculation about performers canceling, poor sales, etc. I doubt either is the case, but still. HTFU D4N and give us the schedule so we can start planning for the conflicts.
FWIW, I had to email them last year for the list of food vendors which I then looked up and posted on each. For a high tech festival, they didn't even present an app to use (though the schedule worked fine on mobile). If you're going to be an industry pioneer, you're probably going to want to put out an app that we can use for information along the way.

eh, I've not really ever had good experiences with FPSF (same peeps), ACL, or Roo's app. I honestly don't care too much about that. And yeah their website is pretty mobile friendly, maybe adding things like food, community, etc. would make the website shitty on mobile and thats why its so bare bones.
How much time do you guys actually need to work out a schedule though?
Not long. I used to enjoy studying Roo acts based on schedule placment for months in advance of the fest. I'm expecting lots of conflicts for this, so I'm not to worried about discovering some unknowns and haven't really been going through the schedule and listening to those type of acts. I might miss a diamond in the rough though.

5 or 10 minutes maybe? Maybe it's just me (not particularly OCD), but I like to be able to plan my festivals regardless of much of those plans end up falling apart. In Day for Night's case, there are over 30 acts I want to see (and 27 I really want to see). Couple that with the light art installations where I might want to take in an artist's perspective light show, and I need to see if there is time on my schedule for any of that. I'd like to know what food I want to try rather than wasting time reading chalkboards and settling for something and possibly missing something else that I would have wanted to try.
Again, I'm not looking to professionally giftwrap D4N into specific and ironclad plans. But I want to know where I'll have availability and maybe where I'll need to go in early a couple of days (if necessary) to view some of the art installations. Not having a schedule just means that I can't wrap my head around the festival and am not ready to enter yet.

I liked ACL's app this year and used it for alerts and scheduling. I extensively used Buku's and Voodoo's apps this year. As for making the website shitty on mobile, they could always link available to "Food" that could be separate from the schedule. It's really not that complicated. Plus if Day for Night did an application, I'd expect it to be on a higher level. It's a want, not specifically a need.
The schedule issues here are different than any other fest, because not only are there the musical sets to rack your brain over, but also finding where to squeeze in the Light artists - some open any time, some only performing at specific times.
I need my abacus, gyroscope and sextant to figure Day For Night out.
I am genuinely worried about how low this is selling (all of the random 10-40(!)% off discounts can't be good signs)/if there are any cancellations they're trying to regroup.

Why? Becaus it’s a fn creative festival that prides on creativity maybe,
I'd still expect the company that makes billions of dollars to be able to make a better app. These things cost money.
And in that vein, I'd expect you would also expect a company that makes billions of dollars to put out a better festival. But looking at it (again) from the creativity angle of what this is, Live Nation hasn't approached what Day for Night is doing. Also I'm not screaming about them not having an app, I just want one because they are stingy with information.
someone on reddit said they emailed day for night and were told the schedule was coming early december. i'm going to guess tuesday december 5.
boo. more than anything i just feel like this would curb sales, there's got to be enough people worried about justice/thom, NIN/tyler, etc. that are waiting to buy.

Apps are easier to create w random excess money than festival line ups.
i get what he's saying, they have all these cutting edge light/sound/design teams, you would kind of assume theyd partner with some smaller hip tech/app company (those exist right?). maybe if you have some kind of beta app and something goes wrong the backlash would be greater than the good feedback if it worked well. also as some have suggested cost.
I def regret paying full price after seeing all these discounts.
Yeah they are truly saying fuck you to all the real fans. it also shows they are getting desperate and aren't selling nearly as many tickets as they thought they would

Yeah, I don't get it. It's easily one of the top lineups of any US festival. It has a good mix of eclectic and accessible. It should be an easy 25-30k people in a city the size of Houston, especially considering that probably half of the crowd will be coming in from out of town. My hope is they're just trying to put as many asses in the proverbial seats as they can. Either way, IDGAF except I don't want it to be cancelled for lack of interest when so many of us obviously see the potential and are willing to actually travel to go to this.

I think the lack of a big headliner on the level of Aphex Twin and headliners that appeal to the youngins like Travis Scott, ODESZA and Kaskade may be the reason for ticket sale slowdown.

Even truer fans will support whatever business decision this fest needs to make to survive.
