Nope last year I got my tickets the same time when they went on sale. I didn't notice nearly as many promo codes as now. Probably cuz they didn't need it with such a rare headliner and more mainstream acts. Regardless, I definitely know now! Actually I will just always get presale since they've made it clear they will never disappoint with the lineup.

Yeah I hear what you're saying and if this is what it takes then so be it. But it doesn't change the fact that the whole reason I didn't get +Friday was because of the $130 price difference. Whereas now with this EDMTEXAS 40% you get the three days for even CHEAPER than the initial 2 day cost. Yeah sorry I'm gonna be a little perturbed by that. It is what it is tho. I just used that promo code to tack on an additional Friday bracelet.
I think the lack of a big headliner on the level of Aphex Twin and headliners that appeal to the youngins like Travis Scott, ODESZA and Kaskade may be the reason for ticket sale slowdown.
It didnt really sell well last year either. A few people I talked to were surprised it was even happening again.
I remember 2015 they were placing passes on Groupon for very cheap. I don't recall as many promo/third party sales in 2016 in comparison to 2015 and 2017.
They threw out the blindsiding 2017 blind presale on December 8th, 2016 - I bet they do it again for 2018 pre-fest this year. Mr. Afra and co. seem like they have good bankrolling credentials.

"New Forms" was a staple of my high school years. DnB might have been the first genre of electronic music that resonated with me, unless you count industrial.

yeah pretty neat I'll get to hear the 20th anniversary performance in a couple of weeks of an album I'm hearing for the first time today lol
800 sounds like a whole lot for a two-day festival.
It includes the Friday summit for what its worth, but yea, I definitely don't think they offer enough to justify that cost. Even though VIP got an open bar last year, I remember hearing a LOT of complaints from the people who purchased VIP.
