i'm going to hold off until next week, i understand they will be running a deal with Krispy Kreme where if you buy two dozen glazed you get a voucher for a 2-day VIP ticket.
We moved back in October and setup mail forwarding at our old address. I also updated our address at various places but neglected to update the shipping address on my D4N ticket order. Once it shipped I figured they would just leave it at the old address, but apparently UPS transmits the package to the post office for delivery. Fine, I figure the post office will forward to my new address as they have with other pieces of mail, but instead the package was rejected.
So the package started out in Denver, routed through Morrow, GA to my old house in Mobile, AL. Once it got rejected from Mobile, it went back to Morrow, GA, who the next day then sent it back to Mobile, AL, where it was rejected again, and then 5 days later was sent to Memphis, TN, and the next day sent to Amory, MS (of course), then the next day back to Memphis, TN, then the next day to Atlanta, GA, where it has sat since 11/30.
I emailed them last Wednesday requesting they cancel the wristband and leave me a new wristband at will call, but I haven't heard back from them yet. Hopefully I won't have a shitty time at will call come Saturday after next.
The three people I went to this with last year for some unknown crazy reason didn't like the lineup that much and didn't want to spend $200 per ticket. Now that they are only $92 with the groupon, they seem like they don't even care. We have a friend's place in Houston to sleep, too! It would $92 (plus food and beer, etc) for the entire weekend of amazing music but they don't even care.

i have no idea what the organizers capital situation is, but i've never seen discounts this steep for a festival. i don't have high confidence in the D4N's future, which sucks because I know beyond just turning a profit they were trying to build something cool for Houston.

I bought a hoodie last year and it is one of my favorite to wear. I've had a lot of random people identify the festival around Austin comment on how baddass last year was but not one person said they are going this year. This number could be around 10-15. Obviously not a large sample size but the fact no one said they were going again this year is pretty surprising.
But I did convince my brother, his girlfriend and another friend to go this year so Im doing my part people.

The fest itself isn't advertising these sales. I don't know how much the average attendee pays attention to this type of stuff once their ticket is bought. I wouldn't have known about all these deals if not for this thread. If D4N does return next year they will have a hard time selling passes anytime before the two weeks prior to the event.
Maybe they've hit quota and are just trying to dump the rest. #positivethoughts
IDK. It never makes sense to me, and I haven't been out in Houston before last year since like 1989. So I don't know that much about the live music scene. A buddy of mine went to Blanck Mass there a few weeks ago and said he was one of about 30 people. Jimadog and Pablo can speak better to it, but maybe it's just that there is a limited market for eclectic there? I remember that fall update last year where 75% of the tickets sold (at that point) were from outside of the area. And as is clear with this thread, many of us have no qualms traveling to go to this even though it's just before the Christmas holidays. Maybe the ambition is better placed for New York City or Los Angeles or parts of Western Europe? Either way, I applaud Omar Afra for his vision and dedication for what they're doing. I'd just as soon be in every year until the day I die even though it does come at considerable expense. I hope it pays off in the end and they are able to realize their dreams. All I know is I can't fn wait. 11 days until we hit the road.
Omar opened a venue in a non-zoned part of town. The residents hate it but there's really nothing they can do. They sued and it's been this drawn out thing as to whether they can play shows outside, like the hurricane pushed back a court date and they got to sneak in a couple more shows. The people in the class action did this neighborhood opinion piece and claimed that WOMH and it's investors had unlimited funds for lawyers.
You shut your dirty whore mouth! Please man don't put that kind of bad juju in the air. If this is the last D4N that will bum me out but I will accept it seeing as it will be ending with a banger. But for the love of god if THIS years fest actually gets cancelled I will cry...HARD.

Look I am already driving 15 hours to go to this damn festival because of how much it's worth it. If they moved it to a bigger city where the number of eclectic music listeners is higher like New York or Chicago, I wouldn't be mad. Hell those places would be closer for me actually. All I know is they cant end this beautiful thing before it ever really even took off. Day for Night is one of the few festivals out there that I see so much potential in. It would break my heart if this gem died when all those LN garbage festivals continue on. I mean fuck don't even get me started on Hangout's lineup this year....

With all this being said, if D4N is really approaching the end can you guys tell me what other festivals out there come close to being as unique with consistently beautiful lineups as this? I already know Primavera (my dream is to save up enough to go one year), FYF, and III Points seem to push out good shit. But any other ones I may have not heard of?

With the area being hit with the storm I'm sure tickets undersold locally. A week out, I imagine the cost of the flight if you were to book now would even out the discount. I thinks it's fine for them to try and give the locals a break while also keeping the festival afloat. Hopefully they are back next year.

Flights from Tampa to Houston are only $83, interestingly.
Oh right. I forgot that Bjork toured non stop around North America and there wasn't a several hours worth of a wait to see her VR installation.
Yeah I was more referring to her dj set not being anything significant. It was awful. And the VR set was insanely overhyped and not worth that ridiculous wait. Had she actually played a live set then yes that would have been something great. My main point being that altho the headliners aren't as "strong" this year, the lineup is still better imo because the undercards this year are something magnificent.

I'll agree with that. I liked the VR but it certainly wasn't worth missing almost an entire day of music like some people did (but I guess it was worth a few hours being hungover in line before doors open).
