I'm trying to think of all the semi realistic possibilities for headliners. Its difficult to to gauge whats realistic after Aphex Twin.
Sigur Ros Nine Inch Nails Massive Attack Bjork (live set) Frank Ocean Bon Iver (maybe not the best fit and they probably wouldn't want to compete with their mexico fest) Phoenix (again probably not the best fit but could work)
Brian Eno in any capacity.
I could see him doing an installation but when was the last time Eno actually played music?
I don't know, and I've never seen him live. I know in the 90's he was doing pioneering work with soundscapes for atriums in hotels and office buildings. He was in the news on some project a month or two ago, but I can't remember what it was - possibly an art project? Either way, just having him there makes it worth more for me.
yeah i meant more like that, not that he'll do a really contentious DJ set from the shrubs. just that his installation would be there.
Now you've got me hankering for a Brian Eno DJ set with him hiding in a bush like Bjork.
Snippets from Here Come the Warm Jets, Before and After Science and Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy interspersed with more ambient stuff like Another Green World and Fripp & Eno's No Pussyfooting. Haha.
looking over the lineup from last year, and its just listed out so weird. Aphex (#1) and Kaskade (#4) closed main stage, with Odesza (#2) and Little Dragon (#11) respectively sub headlining. RTJ (#7) and Travis (#6) close out the Green stage opposite the headliners, with Butthole Surfers (9) and DJ Win (25) subbing for the rappers.
Sat - Main - Thundercat (16) > Banks (8) > Nick Murphy (5) > Odesza (2) > Aphex (1)
Sun - Main - Marcel Khalife (32) > Kamasi (15) > Squarepusher (13) > Little Dragon (11) > Kaskade (4)
Saturday, Soulection (42) closes Blue. Bjork (3) was scheduled to close Sunday, but they changed it to Arca (23), the right move though.
I was looking at it trying to do a line by line replace X with a similar Y, but it kind of makes it hard when you look at the schedule. Obviously Bjork (DJ set) wouldn't be as high as Digital but that throws things off. Kaskade and Odesza's placement is also weird, you'd think theyd be flipped almost. And banks being at 8 was probably a mistake.

How about 2015?
They have probably been experimenting with the placement of the acts each year, I believe.
Arcade Fire's last known date is a festival in Buenos Aires on Friday, December 15th (source: fest's website). Along with their only Texas dates being Austin/Dallas in September - skipping Win Butler's Houston area birth place - I am wagering they close the fest out Sunday on the 17th.
Nine Inch Nails fits the fest, but I'm not convinced - having both A.F. and N.I.N. seems too basic for D.4.N.
Jamiroquai - Last known date is December 6th (London). Apparently their only Texas date ever was a 1997 show in Fort Worth!
Sigur Ros - Open gap in touring between December 2nd (Colombia fest) - December 27th (iceland). Only played Austin/Dallas on recent tour
Phoenix - Last known date is November 19th in Mexico City's Corona Capital fest. They haven't played Houston area since 2010
Massive Attack - Only known date is November 19th (Hong Kong fest) Last played Texas in 2010
St. Vincent - Texas native, last known date is December 3rd (Brooklyn) Last played Texas 2015 - Houston's Free Press Summer Fest
I think Arcade Fire is one of the more likely headliners actually. A couple of them are from Houston and Win played last year so they have a connection to this.
I can see Vince Staples and/or Tyler, The Creator as well.
Maybe Erykah Badu instead of Solange?
She was also here kind of recently, but in a smaller more intimate setting, she played FPSF when the guys booking DfN were running it so they have a connect.
