We were walking up to the Green stage and saw her on the screen wearing a see-through top - piercings very visible. By the time we got to the sound booth (a much much smaller crowd than I expected), she bailed out to the backstage - it was ten minutes after the set time start. We waited through generic DJ-hype nonsense to see if she'd return, but after 15 minutes, we bailed to the indoors. Fast forward to about 7 minutes left in her set, we went back out and found a huuuge crowd all into it. Just in time for Bodak. She now donned a pretty festive long plaid jacket. And proceeded to twerk in it with her fellow dancers. Interesting book-ends to that set. Plenty more to share later on.
Ha you guys that naked chik was Hoodcelebrity. Cardi B's bitch ass didn't come out on stage until 10min before her set ended. Her fucking DJ literally sat there playing hype tracks for an hour. Cardi came out, did 2 random songs, did Bodak Yellow, complained that it was cold, and went home.
That's great news! We need this festival to keep going, not only because it's great but also as proof of concept.
They over in the headliner thread hoping Pink does acrobatics on the what stage and I'm over here psyched for Ryoji Ikeda to blast me with white noise and tiny bleep pinpricks today.
I’m about to head there from club quarters. So sad and excited at the same time for today. Day For Night is tearing me apart like Lisa from The Room.
It's such a good thing. As disparate as some of the acts may seem, they are giving us music and experiences that most festivals won't take a chance on. I hating that it's Sunday too, but I'm ready for wherever today is going to take me.
Oh and for a smaller independent festival, we are up to 90 pages including so much from so many top Inforoo people

Nine Inch Nails definitely could have been a little louder, and it's a bummer they had to cut it short, but the thirteen songs they played were so exhilarating. The best show of one of my favorite bands I ever got to see.
Pretty sure we got halted so that their van could leave the Red backstage when we were trying to get to Yellow to take shelter.
Unfortunately, I missed JLin and Jamie cuz we just wanted to get dry at that point and there was a little too much dead time after NIN to justify waiting around. Another full day today.
I didn’t drive, so I don’t get to bitch. But I have to seriously see that last hour of Thom Yorke. GD that shit was spectacular. I thought Tim Hecker’s blackout set would be tough to top. Anyway, sorry to have missed everyone I missed. Grateful to have seen everyone I saw. I was offline most of the day and other people had my phones. Really fucking cool ass day. Shabazz Palaces to GY!BE to St. Vincent, Solange’s voice, etc. Then the Thom Yorke set. I’ll throw a recap out dayside and peace out.

How did I never see you? We seem to find each other 100 times at previous festivals.
I don't know anyone here and have always lurked the Day For Night threads for input and laughs, but to show my appreciation to you fine folks, I figured I would share my super amateur footage of Justice I got earlier tonight.
Day For Night has been a glorious festival every year thus far, and it is my hope that it will continue to grow in recognition and perhaps inspire other festivals to up their game.
Thank you again for the thread info and for coming to the wonderful city of Houston to join us for this amazing weekend!

Wow. What a weekend. Bummed about some of the stuff that went down Saturday but hey shit happens. Tonight blew me away tho. Can't believe I got to see Tim Hecker absolutely destroy the blue stage. And Thom Yorke... playing Atoms for Peace AND Default? I couldn't have asked for a better setlist. Also can we talk about how incredible Mount Kimbie is??? I swear they have just moved up there to be one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Phewww what a night. I hope everyone had a fucking blast!!!
I'm so happy sad that I follow so many of you on Snapchat. It has been a real treat for Cap'n Mac and I to follow all the fun on snappies. The installations looked insane this year. I really really liked the one with the balloon with the string made of light looking thing (thats what it looked like in snaps anyways.). It looked like a trippy-banksy mash-up.

Nice spot for Justice!
You can see Phyre Fest in your video in the media pit.
Justice from rail must have been a powerful experience!
I’ll post a Fest overall recap later, but while I’m waiting for all these mfers to wake up, here was my day 2.
I got in about 1 and went to the Japanese place and got the shrimp and avocado roll with a side of kimchi. I was 3 Eagle Rares in when I left and didn’t have a buzz. Tolerance was at a ridiculous level, and I was already slowed down from tired feet and general festival soreness. Plan of attack was to just power through the day and see as much music as I came to see.
I listened to a couple of Narcons tunes and then went indside for Shabazz Palaces. It was too early for them to be playing, but I’m not going to complain about them being the first show I see on any festival day. They called it the first sermon of Sunday. They consist of an awesome beats/percussion guy and rapper/singer (from Digable Planets?) from Seattle. Sound was great for this, and they were as good as expected. Next I walked over to the Green Stage and listened to Priests. I like the singer’s voice, and they are a decent rock band. I went back inside to listen to Jessy Lanza. She was pretty good. I thought it would be more R&B but I was glad it tended more into the sonic realm. She’d be a cool act to catch at a club. Next it was back to the Green Stage for The Album Leaf. That project was pretty great live, and the music at times was off the charts, but there were a couple of sour notes which stood out with a set with that kind of sound quality. That was the only knock on it, as they played lots of different instruments, and the main producer had a couple of electric devices. We walked by to see 5 minutes of Rezz because it was on. I’m not much of a fan, but it was a little cranked up. Next up was the end of Rabit x House of Kenzo. I was late so I’m not really sure what all was going on. Looked like rappers, musicians, and maybe a dancer or two. They were sort of hip hop based, and the few minutes I got from this set was entertaining. Next 2 sets were En Vogue and Phantogram. There wasn’t really anything that stood out to me with either set. Neither sucked, but it was kind of filler sets for me. Next up was Godspeed You! Black Emperor. That was one of the highlights of the day with all the buildups and crescendos their songs pulse through. One knock was something was badly out of tune in the middle of the set. I couldn’t tell if it was the violin or one of the guitars but it would grate at me when I’d hear it. Whatever it was got fixed, and the set continued on mostly as a lot of beautiful music. Next we walked over to Solange. I didn’t much care about this set but so many have people talked her up, so I was going in with an open mind. She has a special voice and it’s nice that she kind of sings old school because she’s a good enough singer to do it. Some parts were a little too R&B for me, but because it’s a little different, it’s more appealing. Next was a split of The Jesus Lizard and Mount Kimbie. TJL had a little rust but it was way more together than the Buttholes set last year. Hardcore with an industrial/noise element is the best way to think of them. Mount Kimbie was blow away. I was supposed to just pass through, but I ended up catching most of the middle of the set before having to go out to TJL. Mount Kimbie is a really really good collection of musicians. It was cool they put that set on the Blue Stage. A+ for this. We caught the end of Shlomo and the beginning of Justice before heading to see the majority of St. Vincent. That was my first time getting to see her in person. Sound was good, and she is a powerful presence. I wanted to get back over to Justice, but I stayed and was happy about it. She comes from the heart and soul. Tim Hecker than did that outrageous blackout set. Damn that was so good. It might have been the best electronic performance I saw this weekend. It was super melodic and hit the spot. We dicked around and got food and then was able to catch Thom Yorke’s set until about 1. I was pretty cross about having to leave, because it sounded and looked like heaven. Had I not walked home on Saturday night, I probably would have told the ride to get fucked. But we had to go rescue some stranded people so life got a bit in the way there. My night wasn’t sufficiently complete because I left that hour on the table. I’m sure it will be online, in the next couple of days, and I’ll look forward to seeing it.
A very eclectic but bad ass day none the less. I’d encourage anyone who reads along but who has never been to make this. It’s about the best festival bargain there is bang for the buck when you consider the rare artists you’ll see and experiences you’ll have for 100. Fuck. Wrap up later.
