The drummer for Thursday hates me. He was bartending in Greenpoint a while back and I was on some drunken rant talking to one of the guys from Interpol about how much I despise emo and that is the hair metal of the 2000s. I didn't even know what Thursday was. Was either my finest or worst moment.
Seriously though. Fuck emo
Carlos (dude who was in Interpol) gave 2 girls I know herpes back in like 2006. That's my Interpol story.

He's not the one with the clear warby Parker's is he? Cause I wanted to kiss him on the mouth.
Also, why don't hipsters believe in condoms? I've noticed a lot of bare backing going on in Brooklyn
Finally having a chance to write some of my favorite moments from the fest.
Friday was a very experimental day for me, as I did Julianna Barwick > William Basinski > Ikue Mori > Craig Leon & Martin Rev > Foodman > Container > Jlin. William Basinski and Jlin shows were VERY good. I had such a great time at Jlin set, and danced so much. Try to catch her if she's coming somewhere around you.
Saturday was a light day for me. BJ The Chicago Kid > Miguel > Timber Timbre. I was expecting slightly better from Miguel to be honest, however Timber Timbre really surprised me. Their performance was top notch. I finished the night with a live set from SHXCXCHCXSH (not a part of the fest). For those who don't know them, they are an experimental/techno duo from Sweden. I'd suggest their latest album "SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs" if you wanna check them out. Quite dark stuff.
Went on and picked up a badge to this last night. Summer festivals are the worst for me to get to but if Efrim Manuel Menuck is there, I need to be too.
Stated looking at Airbnb in Brooklyn but have no idea really at where in Brooklyn I need to be looking.
Also, god damn you Northside for being Bonnaroo weekend yet again.
garageland, If you want to be as close to the venues as possible, I'd recommend staying in Williamsburg. If it's out of your budget, I'd recommend Bushwick & Bedford-Stuyvesant as well. As long as it's close to L train, you should be good to go.
Also send me a PM if you're not sure about the place/neighborhood, and I'll check it too.
This is the first year I'll be in the city for this so really hoping to go!
Can also help garageland or anyone else with questions about Brooklyn shit
DO IT! I'd definitely go to this, and the badges are quite cheap IMO. They might also have some discount codes or something, I'll let you know if I get any email from them.

So am I right in my assumption that the night shows mostly start after the McCarren Pool stuff? Is there daytime programming or should I plan on doing touristy stuff? By touristy stuff, I mean eat all the food everywhere.
Sometimes they start at the same time as the shows on McCarren Park. On the weekends, there are some daytime shows, but it's not many. So you should have plenty of time to eat food.
I wonder if I use this festival as an opportunity to revisit NYC. Hmm.

Wasn’t familiar with Sam Evans till a bit ago, I like but not committing yet. Strawman, this may be in your wheel house.
Totes missed the Liz Phair ticket on-sale and it’s on available on a waitlist now. Part of me is bummed but part of me is excited that Snail Mail is still available.
Fingers crossed, you guys. This could be the week.

He's cool! Saw him open for The Districts last year
Let’s hope some bigger names get added. Stoked THICK is there though. I’m writing that in pen.
The initial lineup generally has one or two big names, and from what I remember, the biggest name on the lineup was Dirty Projectors last year. Hopefully they will release the poster today or early next week, and we get to see what they have.
