Not sure if Old Grey is gonna pan out after the Sorority Noise tour cancellation yesterday. Even then, not sure if I’d go anyways. I’d still end up at Protomartyr, who am I kidding.
Eyeballing Jeff Parker at National Sawdust and Flasher at Elsewhere right now.

Ahh damn hadn't checked the dates. That's too bad. Lots of good shows in the city that night

I’d still hold out. There’s a lot more to come. While I’m spoken for that Sunday, I found this gem:
After the initial shock wore off I’ve calmed down a bit. Still picking up a Protomartyr/Deerhoof ticket today but I’m not 100% married to that idea. If Bodega gets added to it, I’m all about it. I’ve seen Deerhoof so many times recently and while it’s a great show, I wouldn’t cry if I missed it.
I’m gonna hold out for Thursday and Friday. I’m leaning Ought and Flasher but I’ve both recently.
If you haven’t heard Flasher yet, you should. It’s the bass player from Priests other band and some pretty fantastic post-punk live. Plus, it’s a cheap ticket.
Sleepies 10 year anniversary with Parlor Walls?!? IN.
Mr. Twin Sister announced for Elsewhere Rooftop on that Thursday and Phil Cook for Sunday at Rough Trade, too. Not sure if that’s part of Northside or not though.
And I'm guessing I'll just end up wanting to enjoy a nice summer evening and going to either Nathaniel Rateliff or the Bowie Orchestra show in Central Park
It’s like 4 miles from McCarren and I’m bringing my running shoes.
I've heard (good things) but never been to that venue, but it is a bit far from the other Northside venues. Even with Lyft/Uber, it's about 20-25 minutes. But with proper scheduling, you should be fine.

That’s the plan. I’m hoping the headliner is someone I’ve seen/Don’t really care about but even if not, this show takes precedent.
I have a feeling Parquet Courts are playing the big stage (based off the latest tour dates).
Pissed Jeans (Rough Trade) and Holy Wave/ Heaters (Alphaville) added to that Thursday. Half Waif added to the P4K Rising showcase.
Two weeks left to go, I’m starting to set stuff in stone.
Thursday: L’Rain / Mind Over Mirrors (Bk. Bazaar) Friday: NNA Tapes Night 2 live scores (Film Noir Cinema) > Telefon Tel Aviv (St. Vitus) Saturday: Double Double Whammy x GRLMIC x Terrorbird day party (Baby’s All Right) > Exploding In Sound presents (Trans-Pecos) > Orville Peck/ Shamir (Baby’s All Right) Sunday: Parquet Courts x Rocks Off cruise > Efrim Manuel Manuck (Union Pool)
Probably gonna lose my shiz on Friday. Lea Bertucci has my favorite experimental record of 2018. Qasim Naqvi is from Dawn of Midi and Marilu Donovan is one half of LEYA (who put out a stellar album this year). TTA is a bucket list act. Electro ambient at a metal bar. I. CAN’T. EVEN.
E: If you see a dude running around in metal shirts and frantically looking for the smoking section, come say hi. E2: Shit. I forgot this was in Brooklyn.
Protomartyr/Deerhoof at Elsewhere 6/09. Apparently, BV got tired of waiting too.
Support added:
FRIGS Renata Zeiguer Eaters Corridor Tess Roby Sloppy Jane
Sloppy Jane and Eaters are high up on my list for the weekend.
E: this Ticketfly thing has me all quacked up. Was gonna pick up a few today and it’s all Ticketfly venues. Gonna go on and do this BV showcase and hit up Shamir after. Gonna suck that I’m missing out on the Exploding in Sound show and THICK closing out the Alphaville day party but this makes sense.
-My bus caught on fire on the way up and I was late getting to the city. - I got BOGO wristbands due to them not scanning my ticket or even looking at me when I picked mine up. - After mesmerizing sets from L’Rain and Mind Over Mirrors, I ended up in the B. Bazaar basement singing Cro-Mags covers to metal kids. I also apparently got lost in Greenpoint.

I’m home, finally. Ended up skipping Shamir and missed Efrim due to the cruise moving locations. That said, it was an utterly awesome weekend. Bands were saw. Beer was drank. Pretty sure I watched porn at the NNA Showcase. The highlight came on the cruise when Parquet Courts jumped into Freebird II as we floated by the Statue of Liberty. Pretty much the best of this years shows for me.
I’m gonna sleep because I haven’t done that in days.
Big Ups to SonofBeek for putting up with my shenanigans.
