Weird...the US Grand Prix announced JT as their musical guest this year and were advertising it as his only live performance in 2017. Anyway, interesting lineup...not sure the rest of the bill attracts a crowd that are JT fans, but we'll see. Also, how is Walk The Moon still riding the success of a single from 3 summers ago?
Jesus. All of the top 4 acts this year cost more than the #1 last year. In a year of down lineups, Pilgrimage swung for the fences.
JT owns a stake in the festival, I'd say he's playing for a reduced fee, if any at all. He's probably using this as a warm up gig for the Grand Prix show (Formula 1 reportedly paid Swift 4m for her show there last year, so he probably got similar)

It's 20 miles from Nashville. Be a huge crowd who buys tickets just because he is the headliner. He could headline a metal festival, and if it was 20 miles from Nashville he would still bring in a huge crowd.
Edit: Yeah, forgot about him owning a stake in the fest. Still
Yeah JT owns part of the fest now. My understanding is he also owns land adjacent to the site so could be a push for later expansion.
By the way, they whole lineup has been pulled from FB and Twitter. Not sure if someone jumped the gun or if they forgot to put Sturgill Simpson on there.
It's a festival headlined by one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, what did you expect? A ticket to see JT at a solo show will start at $90-100.
Oh I wasn't saying anything negative. It seems like the right price point for the lineup. Just indicating that it is actually more than quoted in the previous thread. If you look at mid tier fests, this is cheaper than most and I like the lineup better than most.
Any of you ever bought the general parking pass before? The last couple of years we just parked downtown and walked but have a feeling it might be a bit more crowded this year so considering the parking pass.

So you have been? We live in Nashville and have not attended, how crazy is the congestion in downtown Franklin with no parking or any transit for a music festival. Just curious how much of a hassle the traffic is, for in and out, off of 65 down highway 96. Any tips?

Pretty sure they run shuttles from Nashville.
They haven't in the past and don't list that as an option this year either. Have you attended? How is it?

We drive in from Murfreesboro each morning and have never had issues. Just parked (for free) at one of the public lots and then walked to the festival grounds. It's a 10-15 minute walk or you can hitch a ride on a bike. Leaving can be a little congested but overall it's not too bad.
Now with that said I'm a bit concerned because this line up is different than previous years. Not saying it's necessarily the best line up, still TBD, but Justin Timberlake is by far the biggest name they've had in 3 years so I expect the biggest crowd as well.

Yes, the previous year festivals have had more of a local two day fest type lineup. Mostly people who we've seen at many others fests and this year having JT and Eddie along with a second line bigger than any of the previous years top lines I am thinking it will be much more crowded. Have you enjoyed it in the past?
This line-up blew up on my Facebook feed this morning. I personally know 20 and counting that bought tickets as soon as they saw JT and Eddie on the top. Only maybe half of those are festival goers. I expect a big crowd. The top 4 is perfect for my tastes. Been trying to see Ryan Adams again for awhile.
I haven't seen a Roo line-up blow up on my Facebook feed since 2013.

Yep, we've loved both years. The concern is what we loved was how low key it was. It had a local charm that we're worried might get stomped all over due to how much bigger this line up will likely make the crowds. On the flip side, festivals need crowds in order to make enough money to stay around and we were concerned last year that the crowd seemed as if the festival might not be able to sustain. This likely fixes that problem but hopefully it does so without ruining what made us love it.
It's always a tough balance that I'm sure the folks who run these things have to figure out each year. How do we keep our mojo/spirit/self/etc. while also achieving whatever profit goals we established.
This festival does have a wild card when it comes to profit. The main folks running it are locals and musicians so it could be they just want to have an amazing musical weekend and at least break even on the money side. If that's the case then we should be good for awhile.
I've been the last two years. For parking, either park on site (easy in/easy out) or know where you can park on the outskirts and walk in. Made the mistake of driving through downtown last year and it is packed with cops, people walking to the show, and road closures. With that, they had kayak access/parking the first year if that's your thing.
This is a musically diverse fest with enough known names and up-n-comers to make for an enjoyable 2 days. The reasonable crowds have created a pleasant atmosphere. With JT, I see that aspect changing, but look forward to a more amped up experience. A good thing with larger crowds could be a reduction of lawn chairs within 20 yards of the stage.
