I'm very pleased with this, especially Friday which allows me to see a ton of full sets from some of my favorite artists on the bill. The only painful thing for me is that Fleet Foxes play so late on Saturday which I wasn't expecting. I'm a huge Beyonce fan so I'm planning on staying at the main from Tyler until the end of the night, so I'll just have to miss them unfortunately.
It's really remarkable how there's literally no gap of more than like 20 minutes where there isn't something I want to see.
Friday
Benjamin Clementine > end of Boogarins > Moses Sumney > Kelela > Kali Uchis / Tank & The Bangas > The Neighbourhood > Vince Staples > end of War on Drugs > St. Vincent > SZA > Jean-Michel Jarre > Jamiroquai > The Weeknd if he's still playing
Saturday
Banes World > Chloe x Halle > Declan McKenna > Big Thief / Mild High Club > CHIC > Yaeji > BROCKHAMPTON > David Byrne > Tyler, the Creator > HAIM > Her Royal Highness Queen Bey
Sunday
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever > Westside Gunn + Conway > Noname / LION BABE > beginning of Japanese Breakfast > Amine > Hayley Kiyoko > Jessie Ware > John Maus > end of Kamasi Washington > Princess Nokia > Miguel > Kamaiyah > eat food and people watch at Migos and Eminem
Or it could be wild speculation fueled by people’s ingrained dislike of her, also.
Looks like they're setting her up to have the largest crowd in Coachella history, whether you like her or not, it's deserved. However, its odd with the lack of counter programming in the Sahara/Yuma, there is def the chance that her team requested this.
I still stand by Big Thief being the worst show I have ever seen.
Explain more about this? I'm seeing them at Homecoming in a few weeks, and I thought their Tiny Desk was pretty good
sound checked for the first half of their 40 minute set time, obviously wasn't long enough because when they finally started they sounded like complete ass. maybe they were having a bad day.
In prep for my first Coachella next year, this would be a realistic schedule for me without much research. (nothing too early because I know we'll be draggin ass in the morning)
FRIDAY: Greta Van Fleet> Daniel Caesar> Vince Staples/War On Drugs (ugh)> St. Vincent> Soulwax/JMJ/Maceo Plex (ugh again)> Jamiroquai
SATURDAY: Nile Rodgers & CHIC> Chromeo> BROCKHAMPTON> David Byrne> Tyler, The Creator> Fleet Foxes> HAIM> Jungle/Alt-J> X Japan
SUNDAY: Nothing But Thieves> Talaboman> Motor City Drum Ensemble> Portugal. The Man> King Krule/ODESZA> A Perfect Circle> Eminem
I did not like this lineup at all when it dropped. The top 6 could not be further from my tastes in music. But when all is said and done, there's still 3 solid days which is what always sets Coachella apart. Pumped for next year. Also that Saturday is bezerk. If I actually liked Beyoncé it'd be that much better.
There would be, but I think there would also be a significantly larger number of people who would call people putting forth those theories idiots.
Right, I do think there's more vocal Beyonce haters because she's a female pop star. I also think when the Sahara/Yuma/Gobi are completely dark for only one headliners, it's not that big of a reach to assume the artist or their management may have played a part in it.
Looking at that Friday schedule again, it’s a fuckig mess. The conflicts at the end of the night are plain dumb
There's always acts on these Coachella lineups that I'm clueless about and people rave about here. 3 of them I looked into were JMJ, Maceo Plex, and Soulwax. All r awesome. All r basically at the same time. Woof.

I think a lot of these weird scheduling ticks came about from artist manager demands and touring logistics. For example, JMJ's set-up is pretty elaborate and possibly can't be broken down in 30 minutes or however long it should take before a following act. Jamiroquai (and possibly Jay Kay) may have demanded to close a stage. Stuff like that can make these conflicts come about.
I'm sure acts like Jungle and Tom Misch are soooo upset they have prime tent slots at 10 PM against an empty main stage vs. going directly up against the largest pop star on the planet. People were fighting over themselves for a spot in the Sahara or Sonora in front of 25 people until the bullies in Beyonce's camp shut them down.
Eminem will mostly be even more unopposed than Beyonce, haven't seen any complaints about that.
At least Beyonce is good.
My biggest issue with Beyonce's set times are that Highly Suspect and X Japan will likely end at 12:15, meaning the ONLY show on from 12:15 - 1 will be Beyonce. Eminem will at least have Do Lab, Gobi, and Yuma going on for his entire set.
I definitely want to see some of her set, but I'm not a big enough fan of her music that I want to see the entire thing. Not to mention, I'll be a mile away from the stage where I feel it's significantly harder to enjoy a set with the kind of production hers will have.
We'll see. I think it'll be an awesome show. But I also think it's pretty lame that the options are see Bey or go home.

I was looking at the schedule for fun and thought it was just me. The first half of the day is a big bunch of question marks or no interest for me then I want to see tons of stuff in the later half.

That's honestly how every day's schedule is to me this year. Pretty disappointed. There are blocks with no one I want to see, then blocks with 4 artists I'm interested in conflicting. Going to be an interesting year on my end...

Yeah.. But the Mojave? For the first time in such a long time a US performance and they let him close.. the Mojave? All respect for REZZ and Alison Wonderland, but they've litteraly been at every other EDM fest over the past 2 years?

If it was good enough for New Order it’s good enough for him.

I really can't believe they won't add someone in the Yuma or Do Lab during Beyonce. Maybe they will weekend 2?
Didnt everyone on here champion the fact that Coachella opposes their headliners with quality acts?
This is the first year I don't want to fake be there in awhile.
