This is also just a reminder that FYF was extremely good last year.
The Black Madonna, MCDE, John Talabot, DJ Harvey, Tiga, Talaboman, Omar-S, Daniel Avery, Fatima Yamaha, Helena Hauff, Avalon Emerson, Paranoid London in the same weekend. That's pretty dope, and I'm so glad I went to this.
I hope its 2018 lineup will be as good as last year's.
I woke up in the middle of the night so that I could check the lineup and I think it's pretty good. Yeah, maybe the top few lines are not that impressive, but the undercard is good enough IMO.
Also, most of you are shitting on it right now, but I'm sure you'll pick Coachella as the lineup of the year (and over Primavera too!).
Made this over night as a first draft or something; LINK When you actually throw in all those names on a schedule, it looks pretty stacked to me.. The only few things that stick out is the lack of big (rock) names, EDM/Sahara acts and the huge amount of hip hip and rap artists.
edit: and with stacked, I mean there are a lot of things I'd love to see and there are bound to be some clashes..
I believe Boston Calling announce theirs tomorrow.
Seems like the only one that stands any sort of chance at being better, and that chance is a slim one.
Of course part of that just has to do with Coachella's natural advantage of having the space and infrastructure to support excellent, deep electronic lineups

Beyoncé, Oh Sees, Jungle, and Black Madonna all at the same time? Go to hell.

It was either Japan X in that spot or Oh Sees. Jungle could end up late in a tent or on a day time slot on the Outdoor and idk what's wrong with Black Madonna, could've chosen either of those 3 (Jackmaster or AC Slater) to close the Yuma It's a first draft tho, jesus haha

Living in San Jose at the moment. How much is Coachella the festival worth going to at least once? I've been to a ton of festivals and mostly lost of the big ones. What I'm trying to ask is should I go just to cross this one off the list?

Def worth crossing off the list. Production value of the stages is insane, and the “tents” are massive on their own. As are, of course, the art installations. A majority of the crowd totally deserves the hate they get (I’ve never felt under dressed at a festival before and I was just in the usual shorts and a tank top), but the performances more than make up for it. And there is just something special about “playing Coachella” and you can feel every act is just so genuinely excited to be there.
I’ve also been to most major fests in the US & I’ve been going to festivals for over 10 years now. And I still say it’s worth the trip at least once. If you love the line up, that’s obviously preferable, but if you think this is the only year you’ll get to go then do it.

I get why everyone shits on the people that go to Coachella, but given the choice of being surrounded by people only there to be seen vs blacked out 19 year olds that dominate most mainstream fests nowadays...give me the wannabe insta models every day of the week

The level of not-fucked-up-ness of the average Coachella attendee is an underrated perk.
That’s fair. And I will say that the crowd etiquette at shows was actually a lot better too. I was able to get a decent spot at every set I went to and didn’t have to deal with any pushers or people who were falling into me or whatever.
The worst interaction I had directly was when I had JUST bought some food and this drunk frat bro came barreling from behind me and knocked my $15 sandwich out of my hand and just turned around and laughed. Didn’t even apologize. I was fucking pissed. But that wasn’t at a set, it was just by the vendors.

Coachella crowd age seemed only slightly older than Lolla to me, but definitely less fucked up. Still significantly younger than Bonnaroo, but I didn't go to Roo in 2017.
