Made this over night as a first draft or something; LINK When you actually throw in all those names on a schedule, it looks pretty stacked to me.. The only few things that stick out is the lack of big (rock) names, EDM/Sahara acts and the huge amount of hip hip and rap artists.
edit: and with stacked, I mean there are a lot of things I'd love to see and there are bound to be some clashes..
If yours turned out to be accurate: Friday: HITO > Moon Boots > Avalon Emerson > Greta Van Fleet > Benjamin Clementine > Los Angeles Azules > Detroit Love > Moses Sumney > Black Coffee > Jean Michel-Jarre > Jamiroquai > Maceo Plex > Soulwax Saturday: Bedouin > Mild High Club > Big Thief > Pachanga Boys > Busy P > BROCKHAMPTON > Benjamin Booker > Chic feat. Nile Rodgers > Fleet Foxes > Oh Sees > David Byrne > Tash Sultana > Jungle or The Black Madonna > Beyonce/Jackmaster Sunday: Peggy Gou > Omar-S > Japanese Breakfast > Michael Mayer or Kolsch > Noname > Petit Biscuit/MAGIC GIANT > Amine > Motor City Drum Ensemble > Kamasi Washington > ODESZA > Princess Nokia > Talaboman
Oh great it's time for the annual festival crowd discussion!
Most of the time these discussions are dumb because major festival crowds are much more similar than different, but here I think the beer gardens have a tangible impact.
I didn't have one negative experience with the crowd at Coachella last year.
Same experience here. Also, compared to festivals East of the Mississippi, the scenery is freaking gorgeous. The mountains and palm trees and art installations just make you feel like you're in an amazing place. The craft beer garden was an especially nice oasis in the middle of the festival.
I’ve seen Kolsch and Michael Mayer together before. I could see them performing closely together. That Sunday is going to be so much fun in the Yuma. No reason to ever leave.

I think the schedule will be pretty barren during Beyonce.
Talaboman will be in the Gobi/mojave imo, and Kolsch in Yuma.
From the looks of their production, Carpenter Brut could close a stage. I also picture Soulwax more in the 5-7 range maybe leading into Jamiroquai. Jarre would probably close, right? Jungle > Chic would be cool. Kolsch could close Yuma.

One interesting thing about this lineup is that it's more reflective of who released music last year as opposed to who will be releasing music this year.

I bet Soulwax gets a lousy afternoon Saharan slot like Underworld did.

A lot of those bands hit euro fests last Summer and are at the end of their album cycles. Maybe all the cool bands playing Europe will be around next year? It does seem there are more rising acts who could play the Yuma this year though that could get me more excited.

That would be a shame. They would be great counter-programming for The Weeknd.

With EDM weirdly lacking on this lineup I hope we get a lot of good electronic acts in the Sahara with better time slots. Underworld wasn't bad but 2manydjs playing while the sun was completely up was pretty lame.

Maybe Mojave? Hot Chip spot on the main would be awesome, but probably not big enough.

sunday yuma: michael mayer > joseph capriati > chris liebing > motor city drum ensemble

And in that scenario, maybe all the bros will be watching someone else at one of the outdoor stages. Would actually be sweet to see an act in Sahara properly.

The crowd in the tent midway from the stage was pretty chill during Kaytranada. Lots of spritzes from water bottles from strangers in the hot sun.
It does suck from a viewing standpoint that the Sahara tent isn't even kinda dark in the late afternoon hours.

They throw us a bone once or twice every year. Royksöpp was a great crowd up front and so was Kaytranada. We had Underworld, Rattatat, etc. I’m wondering what they’ll be able to counter program with to keep the bros out this year though.
