To be fair, none of the artists share much in common with their nightly counterpart besides a general fanbase.
The common denominator between all them is strong GV relationships lol
AC/DC and GnR have played Coachella, Maynard has played Coachella is three iterations, Black Sabbath was signed up in 2012, Metallica have done secret shows at GV venues in LA and SF and may have tossed around Coachella before this idea started coming together, Iron Maiden has been a dream get for GV for a while

As getting 6 of them in one place, one weekend, one stage, in a market that has tons of money, on a now legendary location - its very cool. There is something unique missing, that might have been Sabbath last show. Tool will be touring around that time, as GnR. Both play Sacto that same weekend. Metallica is touring this summer etc.
Definitely looks a little stronger with ACDC and Ozz if those are one-offs just because those are bucket list acts that people might have assumed they lost their chance of seeing.
The problem for me here is that the metal fanbase is pretty loyal and most people who would be motivated to shell out for something like this would have seem all of these acts multiple times. I know I have.

Solid lineup but aside from Ozzy none of these acts feel like special gets. And Tool feels really out of place, at least popularity wise.
But like others have said I can't really think of another active act that could've fit this. Maybe Kiss? Or Rage if they planned on performing live again.

I feel like AC/DC is a special get for this fest. They haven't played a show with Brian Johnson in over 7 years.

they haven’t played any show in 7 years. There’s a real chance this is their last show ever.
I’m pretty curious how this came to be. My gut says they were going for Desert Trip 2 and couldn’t get it over the line.
Goldenvoice acting like they were too good for the Punk revival bookings then booking this shit is pretty embarrassing
This is from years ago, but GV is on record about wanting to get Iron Maiden for Coachella, and obviously most of the others have played or came close. I think it’s just a personal interest thing. They like these bands and wanted to do an event with them.

yeah if Tollett could ever convince Iron Maiden to play Coachella they'd book them immediately

feels odd to have a desire to get a specific act this badly and not even let them headline the off brand event

Live Nation already has that covered with WWWY
Except that they had previously employed the people who even put it together until covid hit. So Gv likely ends up with that fest in their portfolio and not Ln. same goes for Lovers and Friends which was originally a GV fest.

That Saturday could be a real shit show if Ozzy and Brian Johnson come out looking like complete shells of their former selves. Brian hasn’t performed in like 6-7yrs and he wasn’t sounding great then.
Hopefully Ozzy has a lot of help and can get through a 90min set.

Brian def sounded rough on the Rock Or Bust tour but it was in large part to his hearing issue that led to him dropping and Axl coming in, so there's at least reason for optimism there. Think he sounds decent enough from last year at the Taylor Hawkins show. Tuned down, but still:
Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 I Am Morbid/Suffocation 11.26 King Diamond 11.29 Sadistic Intent/Massacre 11.30 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Hell's Heroes 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
Eh - I can't see how Saturday could be bad. Is anyone expecting Ozzy to sound good? The guy is on his last legs. If you're there the expectation from both the fans and Ozzy is that the fans are singing Crazy Train, not Ozzy.
It's been mostly Ozzy karaoke for the last 10 years anyway - if you show up to Ozzy's set the expectation is that you're singing not Ozzy.
